Things Falling Right For Bucs

August 16th, 2017

Gloomy days in Miami.

Though the start of the NFL season is roughly a month away, the Bucs have caught all sorts of breaks.

Lady Luck is smiling upon the Bucs while the Dolphins keep having bad news come there way.

First, we all know about the Ryan Tannehill/bratty Jay Cutler situation. Then there was Jay Ajayi. The stud running back just yesterday passed concussion protocol. He had been sidelined for some time.

Then, comes word yesterday that starting cornerback Tony Lippett (he started 13 games with four interceptions last season) is out for the season with a blown Achilles.

A backup corner going up against Mike Evans and/or DeSean Jackson? Yes, please!

As Joe has stated, the Bucs need to go 3-2 in their first five games. More and more it seems a win to open the season at Miami is becoming easier by the day.

Woa Woa Joe calm the horses!! I know it is a new day in Tampa Bay but the Bucs do have a way of losing to teams we are supposed to win against.

  2. TheBucsAnthem Says:

This has all the makings of a trap game.

Suh can single handedly wreck a teams offensive game plan…….

Being too confident is a trap…….even though all signs points towards an easily winnable game.

  3. CautiousOptimism Says:

Miami is a well coached team that is going to be tough to beat. Bucs better be ready.

  4. darin Says:

He said becoming easiER, not easy. Im sure Joe knows no nfl games are easy. That was my thought yesterday when i saw another went down. Yes they still gota play the game, but it has gotten easier. Lets hope theyre not Tennessee ready. Go Bucs

  5. Andrew Says:

Ted larson torn biceps and pouncey hasn’t played this offseason.

  6. Ocala Says:

Their rookie starting at MLB is also out for the year.

  7. firethecannons Says:

run defense needs to be stellar

  8. BelligerentBuc Says:

Count it as a W…what would our chances be if Marpet, Jameis, Dougie, & Grimes or Hargraves were out?

Slim to none…we gotta have confidence in ourselves to beat a team that disturbed by injuries.

Otherwise, we are the same old bucs and I refuse to go backwards!

  9. RayJameisStadium Says:

    I’m with Joe.

    Expect different folks!

These are not your old Bucs!!!

    13-3 Baby!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!

  10. K2 Says:

I don’t thing there are any easy wins in the NFL…until there in the book. If the Bucs wins 35 – 6 we can talk.

  11. Defense Rules Says:

Right now all 32 NFL teams are 0-0. Yes, even the Bucs. As Coach Koetter says … EARN IT.

  12. BurgDweller Says:

I don’t take anything for granted. I am worried every time the Bucs play a game we expect them to win.

  13. RayJameisStadium Says:

2017 the year of the exorcism. This Bucs team will remove the “old Bucs” out of you.

You will be a born again Stick Carrier!!!

    Go Bucs!!!

  14. RayJameisStadium Says:

And ooooohhhhh many are wondering if the ghost of “Hard Knock distraction” will aid the wounded dolphin in the first game of the regular season.

    NOT!!!

    We’ll be that ghost too!!!

  15. Not there yet Says:

Only the weak think that way. Bucs get no respect for beating a team not at full strength, that’s not a way to validate the hype we’ve generated. We need to beat teams because we were better not because they were injured at critical positions

  16. stpetebucsfan Says:

I think Joe is spot on! However it must be my superstition….We have three more preseason games and practices to get through with OUR team remaining healthy.

I watched that hit Godwin took…Fitz…and of course Ryan Griffin got blasted out of the game and perhaps the next month. That was the saddest story of all!!!
Griffin had been playing well and now what happens to him?

Yeah so far……things have gone very well for the Bucs in terms of luck. Don’t know about you guys tho…I’ve got fingers and toes crossed!

    LOL………………we’re not playing the brown!!!

remember the game we played against the rams………I for sure thought that was an easy game for us…….WRONG…….that game Jameis stunk it up really bad………..

  18. Lee Says:

Lippett was Miami’s fourth or fifth corner this season.

  19. TheShaz Says:

Until they prove otherwise. “Gimmie Games” where the Bucs are heavily favored to win…….are the ones they have a long history of tanking.

There is no “Gimmie Game” in the NFL. The day I see the Bucs totally beat up on a team they should beat up on, and I mean more than one game per season. Then I will believe they turned the corner.

  20. tmaxcon Says:

    TheBucsAnthem

if Suh is a dt and can disrupt and offense by himself whats been the excuse for our supposed star DT for the last 7 years

  21. Dirks Great Granpappy Says:

At the end of the year no one will look back and say”Welp, the dolphins weren’t at full strength”

A win is a win. And wins demand respect

  22. The Buc Realist Says:

Look, its not like they have no time to prepare for all these injuries!!!!!! It is way worst when you get the rash of injuries on a Sunday and you have 6 days to get players ready for the next game!!!!!!! They have weeks to prepare!!!!!!

And this is not the old Bucs people!!!!! I like our chances even if they were full strength!!!!!!! Things are about to get “REAL” this season, so you better buckle up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Go BUCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. Lord Cornelius Says:

I wish Miami was at full strength. I don’t want any excuses

  24. Mike Johnson Says:

Please Joe..Cut it out and knock it..OFF! Bucs beating Miami is becoming easier by the day?? Main, who’s your supplier? Get me some of that Kush you smoking!
The Bucs are notorius for losing to team they are suppose to beat. And it has happenned more times than we can count on both fingers. Miami will be strong and ready for their season opener. It does not matter whether they have..Johnny no fingers playin QB for them. They will be ready.Lets hope we are too!!

  25. Roy T. Buford Says:

Some things you think about, but never write about the time is imminent, like after warmups and national anthem on game day. This one of those time. For example, hree pre-season games to go and we don’t know that backup CBs won’t be going against back up WRs and QBs. Knock on any and all wood. Bad karma.

  26. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Lord Corn

I don’t care this year!!!! They could have 6 more starters go down, and I would not care!!!!!! I don’t need to “measure” this team anymore!!!! Just head down south and get the victory!!!! Then on to breaking down the Bears weaknesses!!!!!!!! Its just Business!!!!!!

No more of the ” They won “But”!!!!!!!!!! This is the march unto better goals!!!!!!! I won’t listen to other fans, or the few sheep that will try to detract form any victory as we march towards extra games!!!!!!!! Not this YEAR!!!!!!!

Buckle up, Its about to get “REAL” around here!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Go BUCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think tmaxcon wants to dress up as Batman and have playtime in GMC’s man cave.

  28. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    TheBucsAnthem Says
“…what would our chances be if Marpet…were out?”

A healthy Joe Hawley would play and we would still win…because now that he is healthy, he is playing like he’s a starter.

  29. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I do not think we need injuries to beat any team. in fact, I would rather both teams be fully healthy.

Superbowl or bust (without the bust)

  30. Wes Says:

Perhaps it’s just bad luck, but it seems like the Dolphins are practicing way too hard on each other

  31. GhostofTedford Says:

Our chances have improved but it’s like the old saying goes “On any given Sunday”. Shall we take a walk down memory lane a few years ago, went into Seattle and beat them down the first half only to give the game away in the second half? Or opening day two years ago when the Titans came in and obliterated us? I like our chances, Joe makes some great points, but anything can happen.

  32. Bucfan83839 Says:

Ppl forget dolphins went to the playoffs last year do t sleep on em.

GOOD, put Hawley back at Center, Marpet back to guard, run whoever between the tackles, just win baby.

  34. The Buc Realist Says:

    @ghostoftedford

They are not going to “weaken” the offensive line because Hawley did OK in the first preseason going against a vanilla defense running no scheme!!!!!!!!! I am sure Hawley can play better than last year, because every third play he was on the ground holding his ankle!!!!! But lets no go crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aw cmon meng! You should know my feelings towards GMC aka “Mr Softie” by now.

Mr Softie would rather do beyonce dances infront of the camera of Hard Knocks instead of showing out on game day…….oh wait, he can’t cause he’s always out because of injury……..

    mehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  36. 813bucboi Says:

we better hope Hawley doesn’t have to see a snap vs. suh….hawleys problem is his weight…he’s too light in the pants…..playing center at 275 will get jameis blown up…..he’s unable to put on weight because of his knee issues….marpet and sweezy have to be ready to bang with suh all day long….GO BUCS!!!

  37. teacherman777 Says:

Marpet snd Sweezy vs. Suh will be huge.

I like Pamphile but he is not our long-term solution at guard. He will be our swing backup later.

We need another beastly guard next season.

Our O-Line is mediocre in all honesty.

  38. SOEbuc Says:

If there were any such thing as a gimme game, the Patriots would be 16-0 every year. All this means is we have more starters on our roster than theirs at the moment. Might give us a slight edge in Vegas (probably not being the Bucs), but that don’t mean sh*t either. And they were a playoff team last year and we’re playing at their stadium on opening day.

  39. mike10 Says:

I like the Bucs’ odds against ANY TEAM, but I’ve seen this team play down to their competition way too many times.

They will reach the “next level” once they play consistent football.

  40. Tom Edrington Says:

I thought Chucky said there are no easy wins in the NFL.

  41. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

BelligerentBuc – Dougie will be out that game, Marpet has been banged up and Grimes is injured after just one preseason game. Very well could have the same number of starters out by the time that Dolphins game arrives.

  42. Maze Says:

Yep and their projected starting 2nd round MLB is out too

  43. Rod Munch Says:

Seriously? Celebrating a week 1 win three weeks before it happens? Pipe down Joe.
    Nobody celebrated anything.–Joe

  44. Reach87 Says:

Turning this post into an excuse to criticize arguably our best defensive player is moronic and not the act of a Bucs fan. Morons.
