Now At Mike Linebacker

August 22nd, 2017

Soaring rookie

Yes, Kwon Alexander has an injury and the Buccaneers aren’t talking — not yet.

It’s a bit unsettling, considering Kwon is the pulse of the Tampa Bay defense and the guy behind him on the depth chart is a rookie.

But that rookie was in the mix taking control at the critical “mike” linebacker position: Kendell Beckwith, the last pick of the third round in this year’s NFL Draft.

After practice today, Beckwith said he feels confident and comfortable in the role. Beckwith is a picture of positive energy.

Hey, Joe would be, too, if Joe was soaring on an NFL roster at 22 years old just nine months after major knee surgery (ACL). Beckwith looks good, but he’s no Kwon.

Fingers crossed, Bucs fans.

    I don’t believe it………..not buying joe

This would mean Riley Bullough makes the roster. I can live with that

  3. Kobe Faker Says:

Cant believe how well he is moving so soon after the ACL

thought late 3rd was a mistake because he wont be on th field much this year…

got to give licht/scouts/med staff cred for doing their homework

“Maybe that nasty tasting licht beer is better for rubbing oilment than drinking it”

I think Riley Bullough has more promise as time goes on, but Beckwith might be more advanced as of now.

This is a very interesting situation. (Kwon will be fine I hope) We have the makings of a historic D. (I should know having seeing one built from the ground up several times. Tampa and Pittsburgh)

3-4 is where it is at with this roaster.
Betting they will surprise the league with the newest ways to play the 3-4.

The equivalent to the Tampa 2.

Except this time we are gonna ride with my original handle for the most dominating D of our time.

    “The Red Siege” is on.

hope KWON is ok and comes back 100% and pissed off week1…..

beckwith’s skill set is better suited for MLB….when he got hurt vs UF it didn’t look to be serious and I think he actually got injured the play before(I may be wrong)….regardless him learning both positions will only make him and the bucs better….GO BUCS!!!

  9. Bucsfanman Says:

Get healed Kwon! In the meantime, knock ’em dead Kendell!!!

I doubt Kwon will be out for long. But this is exactly why Beckwith was drafted following the retirement of Darryl Smith. Smith was the starting SLB but was also primary backup in case something happened to either Kwon or LD54. Its what allowed the Bucs to only keep 5 LBers on the active roster.

Beckwith does not have Darryl Smith’s experience – but he has enough talent to play a similar role for years to come.

It was bound to happen after the deep at lb post

Joe Dirt should get more playing time – would love to see him play earlier just to see what he can do against better players. If Dirt doesn’t play much then that tells me he’s practice squad bound and they don’t want to show much tape on him.
