“Nothing To Panic About”

August 29th, 2017

Says he will play at Miami.

Bucs fans had their hearts skip a beat last week when it was reported Gerald McCoy had a groin/pelvic injury that held him out of the Cleveland preseason game.

And for those who pine for GMC’s departure from Tampa Bay, a window into such a future was on display Saturday night. Did you see a pass rush? Neither did Joe.

It was like Browns quarterback DeShone Kizer had the Ebola virus because Bucs defensive linemen kept a safe distance from him.

Thankfully, GMC declared himself healthy and that he will play in the regular season-opener in Miami on Sept. 10. GMC made this declaration while appearing on WDAE-AM 620 Monday.

“Oh, yeah. Absolutely, I’m ready to go,” GMC said. ” If it was in-season, I definitely would have played. You know, just a precaution, nothing to worry about. My phone is blowing up. I [have] seen online everybody was panicking. Nothing to panic about, guys. I’m fine. This happens around the league all the time. Precautions happen all the time. … Really, it is just rest. I’m fine.”

Joe can breathe easier. Only the knuckledraggers want to run GMC off. Joe knows of no competent, sober NFL coach or general manager who doesn’t want one of the better players at his position.

We all saw with our own eyes what GMC means to this team, except folks playing ostrich the past few years. Those who still want GMC gone, be careful what you wish for.

    Thank you Lord.

  2. Bucs Says:

The knuckledraggers will swear they played better against the browns without him.

Because they know better than everyone around the NFL who say gmc is a beast.

Knuckledraggers. I like that one. Knuckledragging mouth breathers is what they are. They’re too busy trolling to remember to wipe the saliva drooling from their wide open mouths.

GMC is a good community man, a good teammate, and he’s currently on track to be a Hall of Famer one day. Drafting GMC is one of the few things Mark Dominick got right.

We always say GMC is a good but not great player and I think that still rings true but him making the HOF is not out of the realm of possibility. He is piling up pro bowls at an impressive rate and his stats at his position are near the top every year. A few things would have to happen. The Bucs would need to make it to the Super Bowl during GMCs career and he would have to start closing games out and dominating in the 4th qtr. If those things happen 2 or 3 years from now, he might be in the conversation.

  9. Nutterbuccer Says:

Who gives a F $CK about the HOF, Simeon Rice isnt even in it so what’s that tell you about it. ALL I care about is wins, and GMC does nothing but help this team win and is one of the best DT in the league year in and year out. Glad hes healthy and ready to ball come week 1, this team has a very good chance to start the year off 3-0, let’s take it week by week and right now as far as injuries go were in good shape compared to other teams around the league. Let’s go Bucs, stay healthy and get that W in Miami week 1.

  10. Lamarcus Says:

    Still no pass rush.

  11. Capt.Tim Says:

Whew! Glad McCoy is good to go! He is, and has been, the only passrusher this team has since they drafted him!
If he had been playing with a good Defensive end and Nose guard, McCoy would have put up truly amazing numbers.
McCoy is a shoe in for the Hall of Fame! The Hall doesnt punish a player, because the team he plays for is TO DAMN STUPID to get him any help!

Licht has done a very good job. But I wont call it excellent until he gets McCoy some help.
That shoulda been a priority the year we drafted McCoy- just like they did for Sapp(the great Simeon Rice)

    . . . If only we had a DE . . .

    Dud is extremely underrated.

  13. NJBucsFan Says:

    Dude*

  14. tmaxcon Says:

dude is garbage not underrated. bucs have not had a pass rush in 13 years so having the soft injury prone liability in the run game is hardly anything to get excited about. you people using meaningless pro bowls to judge players is so adorable… pro bowls have been rendered meaningless similar to hall of fame. popularity contests does not equal great players. the leader of the losing culture cancer93 will prevent this team from reaching the gloryland. I long for the day when you people can support a player and it be about hall of fame on the field performance and not all this meaningless garbage you are forced to justify a crush on average to below average dt who is a career loser. good in the community, peers love him, meaningless pro bowls, big smiles, ice cream and let’s not forget his exuberant celebrations after losses. 7 years of mediocrity

  15. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Capt. Tim

Many forget that Great Warren Sapp did not play with Simeon Rice until his 7th season!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!

  16. SCBucsFan Says:

tmax, just out of curiosity are you a Bucs fan?

  17. Lamarcus Says:

    Agree w tmaxcon

McDonald holds up real nice and even better he doesnt give up on plays and cost 99 percent less.
Also a wise man told me once a player gets in habit of losing, will always be a loser. Spoiled goods. Must be thrown out. He could not learn to win. Losing is contagious. What happen to that?

We have other players due for a big day. Get the job done Licht. Stop fooling ppl

  18. 813bucboi Says:

    slightly overrated……but not garbage…GO BUCS!!!!

  19. Lamarcus Says:

U can me stupid but that should go towards whoever hired these whack coaches in the past and ppl who didn’t give him so called help and he experience this losing. Not convinced he is even happy with winning.

Stop it. Get some real defensive lineman. Stop throwing all the eggs in 1 basket (gmc) and then complain no help.

  20. Steven007 Says:

Trollmax/Cancermax – read Joe’s article again, rinse, repeat. Your moronic drivel is amusing in a “oh, look at the funny retard!” kind of way. We all know you wish you knew how to quit GMC. By the way, are you the blonde cowboy or the brown haired cowboy? And floss already. We can see his pubes from here.

  21. '74 Bucs Fan Says:

Lamarcus – thank you for identifying your intelligence level with your excellent grammar!

  22. DB55 Says:

Pass rush? McDonald created the pressure that led to the VH3 interception. Bull rush up the middle. #passrush

  23. Bucsfanman Says:

Not for nothing but, I’m a tad concerned right now. We’ve seen a pass rush in ONE game from the “1’s”. That list includes Baker, Ayers, Gholston, GMC, McDonald, AND Spence. There’s been no consistency at all. Yes, it was glaring against the Browns but it hasn’t exactly been lighting up other games.
