“Why Would You Not Throw Him The Ball All The Time?”

Inside Jameis

Nothing quite like a look inside the mind of America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston — from The Franchise himself.

That was served up last night on Hard Knocks, Episode 3.

Cool scene with Chucky and Rex Ryan talking to Jameis in a production meeting prior to the ESPN broadcast of last week’s Bucs-Jags preseason game.

Jameis, when talking about taking chances on the field, explained that he feels unbeatable when No. 13 is on the field.

“As far as when do I need to take those risks and who do I need to take those risks with, when you got a weapon like Mike Evans, like why would you not throw him the ball all the time?” Jameis asked.

Powerful stuff there, and it’s so Jameis.

Jameis believes so deeply in Evans that he’s happy to just pound the football into him and, likely, heave up prayers in his direction (even if he’s getting tackled in the red zone).

Joe has maintained Evans likely will get the same amount of league-leading targets this season, even with DeSean Jackson in the mix. And Jameis’ comments here certainly don’t throw cold water on that thought.

Rex Ryan told Jameis he has everything he needs on the team; two stud tight ends and two Pro Bowl receivers, all he has to do is play smart football.

“You got damn everything you need. All you need is each other,” Ryan said. “Don’t worry about any of this other bullsh*t, protect the football and get it done.”

Did you hear ole toe fetish say his QBs were better than what Gruden ever had? LOL! Gruden ran the Bucs after he got McKay fired – and for all the talk about “I wish I had that guy” Gruden never actually did anything to get that guy. Anywho ole toe fetish, no, you didn’t have QBs better than Gruden ever had. While I’m not at the top of the Brad Johnson bandwagon – come on… seriously, Sanchez was better than Brad Johnson? Gruden, to his credit, didn’t really acknowledge what Rex said so he didn’t diss Johnson by not responding.

I’m starting to see ME and DJ complain about Winston. It’s probably unharmful but becoming a sort of pattern here. I’m tad bit on the panic mode. Tomorrow I probably feel better…..or not!

    @Rod
Pretty sure he was just teasing Gruden. Doubt he meant it to hold up in court.
Gruden had a couple good QBs. They just looked bad in that strange motion offense

Capt.Tim – I agree, I’m sure Rex wasn’t going through the list of QBs when he said that, but that’s to me what made Gruden’s non-response even more entertaining. Gruden heard what Rex said and to me, in that moment, you could see Gruden just saying f you fatso… you have to watch in slow motion, but if you know Gruden, you know that’s what he’s mentally transmitting to the viewer.

Well Gruden did have two QB’s here who I respect. Obviously Brad Johnson who won a freaking SB. I actually grew to respect Brad before he was a Buc when he lead the Vikings into the old Sombrero and picked out defense to shreds. Brad was big slow and a statue but he was a very good QB who knew right where to place the football.

We had another pretty good QB…Jeff Garcia who seems to get NO respect. Yeah he had a rubber band arm…was not a big guy…but the dude was a flat out gamer! You had to admire what he got out of his talent both in SF and here in Tampa. One thing about Jeff…he sold out on the field…he gave every shred of himself…he had #3’s attitude without the skill set.

You’re right about that st. pete.

Garcia would run through a goddamn wall just to gain a half yard. That guy had heart, and balls of steel. There were several times during his last 2 seasons here where I thought we might honestly see him die on the field taking on defenders head first.

LOL. “Gruden had Johnson and Garcia”. You guys don’t seem to realize he coached another team besides the Bucs.
