Fire up the in-game chatter in the comments section all throughout the pregame show and to the final whistle tonight! It’s not only the dress rehearsal for the regular season, it’s the first game for the Stick Carriers, as they “take back RayJay.”

Ive never seen a game cancelled due to rain. They didnt used to even delay the games for lightning years back. If theres lightning itl be delayed. Nice try. Look again, buddy. It was thrown within reach in front of Brates, who was moving to the right across the middle, but he turned his head at the worst moment to look back over his left shoulder…away from the QB.
Hence…it was his fault because he was not paying attention. Replay backs this up.

Bonzai – Hard to tell for sure since there wasn’t a replay because Channel 8 is awful, but that is what appears happened, it looked like Brate slowed up before the ball got there. Perhaps, in Brate’s defense, if it was overthrown to the point he couldn’t get to it maybe that’s why.

Rewound and looked at the int. Hard to tell if Brate was led too much due to the poor angle but it did look like the ball was delivered a little too early.

Bonzai – Yeah I saw that, but it was like 4 seconds of a replay – that’s why I said it looked like Brate slowed down, but from the endzone you can’t tell depth, you need to do a proper replay from two angles – Barber could explain it if the dolts in the production truck took 30 seconds to show it properly.

mark2001 – They’ve given up one play of any note, and that was of course Ryan Smith getting burned. Cleveland has one of the better offensive lines in the league and any QB that isn’t under constant pressure can look good – just look at Dak in Dallas – put him behind that Bucs d-line and the Bucs are looking for a new QB next year.

Also I said outside of Smith and Conte they look DECENT… DECENT doesn’t mean good. The Browns have a very good offensive line and they’re giving their QB a bunch of time to throw the ball – ANY QB in the NFL can play decent if given time.

I’ve said all this offseason the Bucs will win on offense, the team has zero corner or safety depth and they’re going to have to outscore people.

The crackers on offense really let Winston down… Brate either got held or gave up on the INT, then Humphries faked an injury to make up for giving up on a wide open long play in the middle of the field…
On defense, again, the defense played OK except for the awful play of Ryan Smith and Chris Conte. Smith did come back and have a nice pass breakup, but outside of that he was absolutely terrible getting burned on at least 2 big plays while Conte got burned on a big play and missed what, at least 2 tackles?
Beckwith also missed 2 tackles (one was at the line on the play where Conte then also missed a tackle) but he gets a bit of a pass since he’s still a rookie and coming back from the ACL.
Chris Meyers like always gets an A- for being a goober and has no place on TV, or even living in America, he should be in a more boring country like Canada.

OLine didn’t look all that sharp in the 1st half, but not to be outdone neither did the DLine. Zero pressure without McCoy, and Spence has been a non-factor. OLine’s pass protection broke down multiple times, but looks to me like they just weren’t prepared for Browns’ blitzes. Oh well, maybe they’ll both rebound in the 2nd half.

Regardless of what the Winston haters say he had a good game – if Brate doesn’t let up/get held he doesn’t have an INT, plus he had a big play to Hump that Hump just didn’t try for, which is still baffling, and he had that clear Dye TD. Count those and he’s around 260 yards with a TD and no INTs in a half and one series.

No way – you play football outside – what they need to do is not stop the game because of lightning, I love watching games in thunderstorms and snow and everything else, that’s why football is so much better than most sports, you play in the elements.
Indoor stadiums kill the vibe, like those awful Falcons games in their garbage Georgia Dome, of the Rams dome was terrible, the Vikings dome was terrible, etc. Outdoors is awesome.

Has absolutely nothing to do with affiliations. I made the screen name because the Winston is never wrong mentality FSU fans have for this guy. In there eyes the man has no faults and its always everyone elses fault. If a pass sails over Evans head its not Winston’s fault but boy let Evans reach for a ball thats 3 ft iver his head and Evans gets a fingernail on it the blame is on Evans. Stats are nice to have but ask Marino if that makes him a Champion. The only numbers that matter are wins and he has yet to have more than 9 wins. At this point he has yet to surpass the great Josh Freeman who might have been a nut job but he did get us 10 wins with no talent om the roster. A great quarterback doesn’t need to have the best recievers to be successful. I dont think anyone believes Juilian Edelman is in the same class as Evans nor is Amendola yet they win the Superbowl. Other than the short stint with Randy Moss he has had nothing yet still wins 5 Superbowls.
One thing is certain though, he has more weapons than any other QB in the league so there are no more excuses. Guess we just have to wait and see if he is the real deal or just a great talker with good leadership qualities.

I hate when they have a lightning bolt like 10 miles away and stop the game. There has never been a single time lightning has hit a stadium and killed people – until it happens you need to play ball. I predicted Barber would not be on the team past week 3 just after the draft. If the Bucs had not drafted a RB, I think he would make the team, or if Martin had played badly.

BuccoDav – I know you keep the playbook basic, it’s more of a comment on last seasons playcalling where Dirk was ultra conservative. The first 2 weeks of the preseason he actually was mixing it up quite a bit, this week he’s been back to the predictable playcalling.

With time* we gotta draft a right tackle or swap smith and draft an early new tackle. I don’t hate smith I jut think he has a few too many mistakes on double pressure situations.

Man Joe Dirt still hasn’t gotten into the game? I guess he’s going to get featured on Hard Knocks getting cut. He’ll be on the practice squad so long as no one picks him up. That stinks. I wish he had accepted his Joe Dirt nickname, I think he Bucs merch money in jersey sales would have made him a shoe in.

I’m surprised that Ronde doesn’t think McNichols is in danger of getting cut, I’m not sure how he makes the team if they really are as high on Barber as is claimed. I’m not sure why you’d keep Barber, he’d easily make the practice squad, but McNic would probably get picked up – maybe that’s what Ronde is hearing.

For those complaining this was a sloppy game I just want to remind you that it has rained, heavy at time, for half of the game… half of a preseason game.

I think we see why Joe Dirt isn’t getting more playing time early – last week at Jacksonville he looked late going down the middle on a pass completed and they just did it again on him. Too bad, I think most people were pulling for him but I think he just doesn’t have the physical ability.

Bonzai – Dirt got burned on that deep pass just like last week. I think he just doesn’t have the speed to play that MLB spot in this defense where you need a lot of speed.

I’m not saying Joe Dirt is good enough to start…not yet. But you can see a lot of potential there. I think he is worth holding onto for a year.
Maybe Practice Squad.
All players get burned from time to time, especially rookies. He’s usually downfield making the tackle if needed.

I remember when Sam Wyche actually put his starters back into a preseason game in this same situation because he wanted to set a winning attitude. I forget what year but he put in the starters cold at the end of a preseason game and they of course did nothing.

complete BS calls on Evans on both those plays. I know they were questionable but he wasn’t trying to hurt the receiver on either of those plays.

Jameis has been magnificent this preseason and this game was no exception as in reality he went 18-27 for a .667 completion percentage, 223 yards and a TD with the pick Brate slowed on … that’s fantastic for 2.5 quarters of play without Evans or Jackson or two starting OL’s … Jameis is ready for the season and I actually do think he has a great shot at 5k yards and this team may need it as I don’t fully trust the running game. No to McGregor/Mayweather …

NFLNut – Actually it should be about 19 completions for about 243 yards on that pass to Hump where he gave up on the catch which was right in front of him – that was about 20 yards downfield.

Judging Fitz when he’s playing with guys that won’t be the in league blocking for him and catching for him, it doesn’t mean much. He’s not a good option, but most backups are terrible, there’s a reason they wanted to give Glennon $8-million.
They seriously should contact Chicago and see if they’d trade Glennon back and take on at least half his salary.
