Impassioned defense.
Strong words last night from a local sports anchor directed at the Gerald McCoy haters.
Joe has always written how unfair it is for Bucs stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy to always be compared to Hall of Famer Warren Sapp. There is only one Sapp. There will never been another.
Partially because GMC plays in Sapp’s long shadow, he has an inordinate amount of crazy, blind haters. Again, at worst, GMC is the third-best tackle in the game. Yet to hear the GMC haters, he is the second coming of Dre Moore.
It just dumbfounds Joe.
And it seems it floors Ryan Bass as well. The sports anchor for WTSP-TV Channel 10, Bass produced an editorial Monday in which he unloaded on the GMC haters and said if they had any common sense, they would not just respect but laud GMC for all that he brings to the Bucs.

You are talking about the same “fans” that thought lovie was bringing the “glory days” no so long ago!!!! They thought the defense was a clone of the ole tampa2 defense!!!!! They said this player is like Sapp, and Lynch and Brooks and all the rest!!!!! They were even saying in 2015 season that it was “1997” again!!!!!!

It’s weird this happens before training camp and Ronde got the blame as if he was lying and bashing instead of giving us fans the brutal truth. For all the fake replis we get from players, coaches, gms, etc when speaking about a player we always get the professional postive answers. But Ronde to speak the truth. We need leaders that can take a team over the top.

Two GMC articles in one day to rile up the slack-jawed mouth breathers.
Let me break it down again for the fools who don’t know any better. If GMC goes to 3 more Pro Bowls and is named to two more all pro teams he will be in the Hall of Fame one day. Given his career path this is a very likely scenario.
We have one of the top 3 DTs in the game, especially in a 4-3 scheme yet the mouth breathers around here would rather have Akeem Spence and trade GMC or a 4th rounder.

I know another Bucs DT that was known as a gentle giant, was nothing like Sapp and yet was accepted as a leader and legend. Not trying to compare GMC to LRS, but you don’t have to be Sapp to be one of the all time great Bucs players. I’m proud to have a man like Mr. McCoy on our team.

I’m tired of having good but great players on our team man. Great stat guys w no championship pedigree. So what is it worth? The pro bowls and he gets a pass?? I hope he brings that fire and plays with a chip on his shoulder this season. I can’t wait to sit back turn on my HBO and watch it all unfold with a nice tall frosty Brew, i can almost taste it. This team, my team, is gonna be very entertaining to say the least and hopefully smacking some fools around and proving a lot of people wrong. A lot of people will compare current players to the old greats, hell i did, but you gotta realize they need to have their own identity and this year we will see alot of players come into their own.

McCoy is ok. I wouldn’t say 3rd best..more like 12th best.
He lost my support when he laughed and smiled on sideline as the team was down by 40pts. Sure you can say that’s how he deals with loss but it isn’t “bad ass”

You know what I think is idiotic? People who have been Buc fans since 1976 who actually think they know what it takes to win fb games. Outside of 3 years from 99-02 the Bucs have been the laughing stock of the NFL. So yea you guys are in a perfect position to know what winning football looks like.

So we should get rid of everyone besides Clint McDonald and JR sweezy because they are all a bunch of losers and aren’t champions. Right. Considering it’s been 15 years since we won the Superbowl I don’t see how we can acquire a bunch of “champions”.
Even if we won the Superbowl this season and all our players become “champions”, the cro magnons In here will still spew their ignorant nonsense saying we won in spite of McCoy and not because of him. So they will praise everyone else when we win but try to place The blame almost solely on his shoulders if we don’t.
I’m not sure where this biased agenda came from but I for one appreciate Gerald and the man and talent he is. Keep doing what you do and continue to improve like every player works to do. Don’t worry about being Sapp or Leroy, just be Gerald because an all-pro/ pro bowler is certainly good enough for me.

I have a lot of appreciation for the all-time fans. Even though those years included half a stadium of opposing fans Pro football would not have been sustainable in Tampa without support of its home fans.
These fans may be tougher then me. I’m not sure I could of handled being a fan of a team that was so horrible and took so so long to ever become anything to be proud about. Thank You all-timers!!
