“The Vibe Is Pumping”

June 23rd, 2017

Diggin’ Bucs vibe.

Kay Adams seems like a vibe kind of chick.

The it-girl for Tampa Bay fans is all in on the Bucs this year and it seems she just cannot get enough information on the pewter pirates. The co-host of “Good Morning, Football,” seen weekday mornings on NFL Network, recently peppered Mike Garafolo for Bucs info.

Garafolo, a reporter for NFL Network, spent a couple of days at One Buc Palace last week during the final week of underwear football to gather information on the Bucs. So Adams (“Don’t ask me about my business, Kay”) asked Garafolo what the vibe was at One Buc Palace.

“The vibe is pumping and the vibe is pumping in the locker room, certainly among the players,” Garafolo said. “The players realize they have something right now that is pretty workable.”

Garafolo noted Bucs coaches and suits are trying to ratchet down expectations but the team is aware it has good, young talent all over the roster and the next step is to transform that talent into results — in wins if not a playoff berth.

“’It’s time,’” Garafolo said stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy told him directly. “That was the quote. ‘It’s time.’ The front office realizes you can’t just have that potential; you have to capitalize on it at some point.

“These guys [Bucs players] are really believing they have something going here.”

Time will tell what the Bucs do. Yeah, they’ve upgraded the talent. Winning Bucs coach Dirk Koetter said during underwear football the roster is “by far” better than at any point he has worked for Team Glazer.

Problem is, the NFC South may be toughest division in the NFL.

The 2017 season should be, one way or another, a lot of fun.

I DVR most Bucs games so I can watch them especially during the off season. Yesterday it was the game VS the Seahawks. We had our way with them in the first half on both sides of the ball. ME13 had 2 TD catches in the first quarter which was a first in franchise history. The defense was making Russel Wilson miserable.

We obviously beat some good teams with the personnel that we had at that time. We have gotten a lot better talent wise. We have upgraded the OL IMO with Sweezey being ready to play and hopefully the back will hold up which could go either way. Noah Spence is healthy and I think he is going to make a huge splash this season. We have adequate CB’s and with an improved pass rush, that will just help the secondary that much more.

I see no reason other than losing most of our key players to injury, that our offense will not score a lot of points on most defenses. That will cause teams to have to pass more against our defense, so a greatly improved pass rush should have many opportunities to wreak havoc on opposing QB’s.

I am optimistic every offseason for the most part but it is different this year. We have Winston going into his 3rd year of Koetter’s system which is apparently expanding deeper into the playbook. Mike Smith was retained which is huge for continuity on the defense. I honestly believe the post season drought ends this season. Sure the NFC South is a tough division but if you want to be the best you have to beat the best.

    Go Bucs!!!

One of the best articles I’ve read on JBF this preseason Joe. Love Garafolo’s assessment … “The front office realizes you can’t just have that potential; you have to capitalize on it at some point” … but I think his follow-on quote is the key to making that happen … ““These guys [Bucs players] are really believing they have something going here.”

And rayjay1122 I share your optimism about Jameis going into his 3rd year and being able to expand deeper in the playbook. Obviously there’s a lot is hanging on his shoulders this season, but he’s got all the talent AND desire necessary to be great. Like you said Joe, this “2017 season should be, one way or another, a lot of fun.” Can’t wait for that first Miami game.

??? Our division is tough??? One can say that because the Superbowl chump has come from our division the last two years but is it really. Lord C posted Ron Rivera’s record as a HC over there in carolina. Not all that impressive. Sean Payton so so since Sprole’s and Graham left. Quinn basically took over a playoff team with a franchise QB and all world WR(ME quickly closing that gap)and Fameis is like Lord C posted 3 and 1 against them. To me the south is up for the taking. And we up to bat.

I hear ya bro but I’m still very wary of Atlanta. Carolina and N.O. have some issues.

Atlanta though is very much like us…some great FA’s…but reading about how Alex Mack’s acquisition made the Falcons OL that much better and how at Center he was able to give Matty Ice security up the middle….Can we say Ali Marpet?

Atlanta…like us has also drafted well. They have their own challenges…mainly losing their OC and trying to get over the humiliation of the SB. If any team should have SB hangover it should be the Falcons.

Feeling pretty good Billy Ray….Falcons talented…but are we! And we’re VIBIN’.
