Clinton McDonald talks about extreme June intensity
There’s a lot of juice pulsating through your Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
That intensity that starts with Team Glazer and filters down to coaches and America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, and others. And that passion boiled over recently.
Joe chatted today with defensive tackle Clinton McDonald, who revealed that tempers flared recently on the fields of One Buc Palace.
No names were mentioned, but the revelation was delivered during a discussion Joe had with McDonald about guard J.R. Sweezy and his tough-guy nature.
McDonald, a Super Bowl champ with the Seahawks, said he loved the attitude the brief blowup during no-pads, no-contact football represented.
“I don’t think it was anything that was personal,” McDonald said. “But the fact that, you know, guys want to greater than they were last year. Guys want to better personally and as a team. We want to bring that mentality, that hard-nosed mentality. That way, when we get deep into the fight, we’re not folding, but we’re excelling.”
McDonald acknowledged it was linemen mixing it up. A little pushing and shoving, kind of like brother to brother, you know, a little wrastlin’ session going on,” he said. “Of course, it’s going to be the guys up front. You can’t [hit anybody], but if you’re a competitor, you’re going to be serious about what you are doing and how you compete, regardless of whether it’s just, you know, [playing] tag and that’s it.”
“It’s still a competition and there’s still a certain aggressive nature to it.”
Yeah, no big deal. It’s football. Guys get hot and pissed off.
However, Joe likes this because it likely illustrates just how deep and intense competition is this season in the Bucs’ trenches. There are heck of a lot of guys with an awful lot to prove for various reasons.

I hope Sweazy was one of the guys in the scrum. Missing a whole year after just signing hear leaves fans with a lot of questions. If I heard about Sweazy getting pissed off in practice it would answer a few of those questions, in a good way.

hoping Ayers has a one on two discussion with D. Smith 76 and Dotson 69 about penalties–touchdowns negated because of those two knuckleheads. Last 2 years those two costed Bucs some serious yards at the worst times. Dotson cost us a Cam Brate touchdown in the Seahawks game.

Don’t worry she won’t get double digit sacks. these clueless fools think she is magically going to stay healthy and play an entire 4 qtrs each week. she does not have the drive nor the desire to be great. she never has and never will reach double digit sacks. she will be on IR by week 8 she will not be able to keep up with the intensity of the new bucs and just bow out.

This happens all over the NFL each and every year! How it turned into a bashing of 93 idk. Personally I think this might be one of his best years yet… Baker being a HUGE part of it. I’m just not worried about 93… It’s Sweezy with his back that scares me. Pulling for him, we need that big body on the line. Let’s go!!!

If they’re fighting at camp, with no pads and no hitting, it means they care enough to fight. Boy have times changed. Country club atmosphere is gone. Thanks to Jameis, Kwon, and 13 for bringing this mentality.

“Hot” Ayers has, in one MORE season than GMC, 10 fewer sacks…from the DE position. That’s an average of 4 sacks per season. Wow. Shiver me timbers, that’s one hostile DE! Pfft, whatever. More hot air from the local troll. GMC from the DT position has averaged 6 sacks per season. Listen, I like Ayers just fine. But he has his own health issues like many players. Perhaps he’s ice cream of a different flavor. Or more likely referring to an NFL player as the ice cream man is simply ludicrous and what a troll does. Yep, that must be it. Can’t hijack facts Trollmax, leader of the loser posters culture.
