Slow Down!

June 12th, 2017

She’s looking at you, O.J.!

Let’s let the guy line up on the field of play once, huh?

Look, Joe thinks it is cool the Bucs are getting so much hype from national media types, and that the It Girl for Bucs fans, Kay Adams (“Don’t ask me about my business, Kay.”) of NFL Network, is their head cheerleader. Well, it seems Adams’ enthusiasm for the Bucs is contagious in the Los Angeles area-NFL Network studios.

Adams colleague, the ravishing Colleen Wolfe, one-upped Adams and frankly has gone overboard to one degree in pimping the Bucs.

In a recent episode of the “Dave Dameshek Podcast” — that dude is so annoying — Dameshek asked Wolfe to name an offensive player drafted this spring who will someday be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

For Wolfe, it is Bucs tight end O.J. Howard.

“He’s the guy I keep talking about,” Wolfe said.

Whoa!

Now Joe has nothing against Wolfe in any way. Actually Joe likes her a lot. She knows her football. But Joe is starting to understand now why winning Bucs coach Dirk Koetter is really uncomfortable with so much Bucs-will-make-the-playoffs talk. Now folks are putting a dude who has yet to wear shoulder pads in practice in the NFL into Canton?

Again, the hype is cool. But the Hall of Fame talk for rookies, well, people should cool it.

Agreed. It borders on ridiculousness. I’m as excited as any fan but this is too much. HOF?! C’mon!

  2. Scurvy Dogs Says:

To be fair, anyone she mentioned would be in the same boat; not having played a singe down yet.

  3. The Other Side of the Coin Says:

Good grief Joe. She was asked a direct question. Why not Howard? No one knows if any will be there. Why someone else over Howard? It’s just some fun in the off season.

  4. 813bucboi Says:

yeah…lets see him in preseason first….GO BUCS!!!

  5. RayJameisStadium Says:

Don’t be afraid Joe! Let go of the “den of depression.”

Where there is smoke there is fire. So many people going there….hmmmm. He must have the fire within and skill set to head on that direction.

As well as Brate developed and perform last year, I am willing to say we have the right coaches to create another Tony Gonzales or better.

    Get loose Joe! Relax!!!!

Start thinking of the new name for the stadium. All is coming together. You can enjoy it now or enjoy it later.

    Go Bucs!!!

  6. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

“Dameshek asked Wolfe to name an offensive player drafted this spring who will someday be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame”

Really, it wasn’t her answer that was stretching it, it was the question. ANY answer would have been a stretch at this point. All the draft picks have everything to prove.

  7. R.O. Says:

    ‘Cause she knows soooooooo much.

  8. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Its gaining momentum Joe. SLOW DOWN! I can’t I’m ALL GAS no brakes. SkullGang man Red banner 1ball 3blades. There’s a orangish-red tide sweeping the nation. Many are already being consumed by it, some here struggle to accept it. We are the “It” team now people embrace it get use to it. We will be hated by men of opposing teams fans bases but beloved by they’re women. It is the Rise of an Empire. 300.. BUC!!!

  9. Not there yet Says:

Dameshek asked Wolfe to name an offensive player drafted this spring who will someday be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

I don’t see the problem. No one drafted has played one snap yet, this wasnt about the bucs it was about naming an offensive player drafted that would make Hof. If not Howard who would you pick Joe because it’s still going to be someone that hasn’t played yet, it was all in fun

  10. LakeLandBuc Says:

I see a huge let down coming this season.

  11. Brian Says:

    Of course you do..

  12. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Wait, Is this not the same Joebucsfan.com that published an article suggesting we trade away our entire draft for a certain college running back so they wouldn’t “Terrorize us for the next decade”?

  13. webster Says:

    Good one blake!!!

  14. Stpetebucsfan Says:

    Blake

Take your point but that’s rampant hyperbole. Joe was amenable to moving up to get Dalvin….he was hardly advocating “trading away our entire draft”. Gotta bust you for hyperbole on that one. Yeah I know it’s a sports blog and you can’t have sports discussion without hyperbole. LOL

AGAIN…there is NOTHING in the study of philosophers and great thinker all the way back to Marcus Aurelius that supports the idea of focusing on the negatives so you don’t get to carried away by the positives.

Nobody EVER wrote a book called the “Power of Negative Thinking”. Successful people just don’t operate by constantly exploring the reasons they MIGHT fail.
They are certainly aware of reality but to dwell on the negative is counter productive.

OK I finish with this fundamental belief. Joe and others…perhaps Coach K are worried about “over confidence”. For every team that failed because they were overconfident I can provide a dozen who failed because they didn’t think they could….it’s I think I can…I think I can…not…I probably can’t because……

I’m not snarking here…I literally believe that every Buc on this team better believe we are headed to the Super Bowl and have the talent and coaching to get there. Otherwise I do not want them on our team.

  15. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

The Seahawks come to mind. After beating the pats( you mad bro game) they became one cohesive believing unit. The confidence they oozed when they faced the brocos could be felt coming thru the screen. Some here are focused on what the future holds, others seem to take satisfaction in thinking they were right about a draft pick when in truth they pegged many people to picked the Bucs. I give a s@$! about any of that now. My focus as fan is projecting the belief of we are winning next season’s Superbowl. All that other ish is just that,Ish.

  16. RayJameisStadium Says:

Poor Lakeland he is just realizing the inevitable – Our 2nd Super Bowl Win is coming in Minnesota next February!

At least you can join the bandwagon before the season starts!

I Celebrate in ’02 and I’m celebrating the same way again!

I’m glad I was this fired up back then too!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!

  17. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Like, its easy to feel you were right when you had about four or five different players pegged to be the pick in the first place. I mean c’mon man.

  18. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

If anyone on here can show me where they had the Bucs dafting any other player we ended up drafting I’ll send you a bottle of Dom. Go in the archives and show me. Ya see Joe introduced us to Chris Godwin in a thread and the Bucs drafted him.

  19. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Truth of the matter is drafting O.J.Howard was a complete utter shock to the entire organization.

  20. Jolly Bucs Fan Says:

Yes, Coming out and saying that OJ will be a HoFer = Ridiculous

Being asked to speculate and choose 1 player out of those drafted who you think might make it to the hall of fame, and all of your options have taken 0 snaps at the NFL level, then choosing someone you think has the physical traits who has also been put on a team that on paper is filled with weapons setting up said player to be successful doesn’t seem that far-fetched.

  21. Buc4Lyfe79 Says:

I understand that talking heads get paid to talk, but that was a truly asinine statement to make.

  22. grafikdetail Says:

wow! talking about jumping to conclusions… not wolf though…it’s Joe and a few commenters

…… Anyone with Half a brain, especially those who call themselves fans of FSU football should know that Jameis Loves his tight ends.

And lucky for us there is a damned good one that just might be there at 19, O.J. Howard out of Alabama is a straight up beast, and he’s the first TE in years that scouts say is both the best reciever/blocker at his position. Would love to get him.

    Check it.

    ———————————————

I’m mad late Nos, but I mean I said this in January and stated on multiple occasions that O.J. was my favorite player in the draft, The only question I ever had about him was whether or not he would be there.

And anyone who watched the combine took notice of Chris Godwin, the kid killed it out there just like he is gonna kill it on the field for us.

  24. BringBucsBack Says:

    St Pete,
I don’t think it was entitled “The Power of Negative Thinking” but, Bob Knight (go figure) wrote a book with a very similar title, discussing his methods of motivation through negativity. I forget it’s name exactly but, it was VERY close!

Sadly, Miss Wolfe is not looking at me😟. She is ravishing, indeed!

  25. Buccfan37 Says:

LakeLandBuc. .. I see a huge let down coming this season. Yeah me too …from Buc opponents.

“If anyone on here can show me where they had the Bucs dafting any other player we ended up drafting…”

They drafted two players from my wishlist…but unfortunately I got hit by a virus last week and had to format my computer (lost three novel projects too), and I lost all my bookmarks.

And I am far too lazy to search out all my stuff again. 😉

  27. Tampa Tony Says:

I’m pretty sure this is the only time the Joes have told a woman to slow down

  28. Howard Cosell Says:

When pre-season rolls around the Bucs will start getting pissed off.
That’s when they’ll break out the big sticks on other teams.

    Geah

  29. LongSeason Says:

There are only a handful of players I saw going to the HOF after they were drafted.
    Barry Sanders (HOF)
    Peyton Manning (HOF)
    Andrew Luck (TBD)
    Randy Moss (HOF)

Players I thought would never be in.
    Jerry Rice (HOF)
    Deion Sanders (HOF)
    Emmitt Smith (HOF)
Luke Kuechly (TBD but MAB or Busted)

That is out of the thousands of layers drafted into the NFL just in the time I knew what the f makes a great player great. Tampa Has yet to draft a player I said was a sure fire HOF when drafted. This even applies to Warren Sapp and Derrick ‘Babbling’ Brooks.
