Flexible Jameis

June 26th, 2017

Team guy.

Bucs shot-callers are quick to point out one thing that drives America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, is his desire to be great.

And to be great, Bucs folks say, Jameis knows he has to get a ring. And how do you get a ring? By winning games.

So Jameis is all about wins. He understands football is a team game and helping teammates succeed is a way to get wins.

With that in mind, it was very telling what Bucs receiver DeSean Jackson had to say about Jameis near the end of minicamp, as caught by NFL Network video.

“He sees what I am good at doing,” Jackson said about building chemistry with Jameis. “He doesn’t try to change it. He tries to adjust his game to the strength of his [teammates].”

Jackson went on to say he can tell that Jameis throws a pass differently to Mike Evans than he would to Jackson or Cameron Brate. Jameis does a good job of changing the way he throws a ball depending on who the target is, Jackson added.

This impresses Joe a lot. Many quarterbacks would tell a new receiver, “this is how I am going to throw it.” Not Jameis. He changes his moves to best fit the receiver.

That’s a team guy.

    Huge

A lot hanging on Jameis’ shoulders right now obviously, but I’m really expecting him to improve markedly this year with all these new weapons. Like you said Joe, Jameis understands that it’s all about winning games. And he also understands better than anyone that he’s not the Lone Ranger out there; that ‘helping his teammates succeed’ is the way to get wins. Bucs have built a strong T-E-A-M around him; it’s his job to get it purring like a well-oiled machine. It’s going to be an exciting year.

It has been and always will be a team game. I’m with you Defense, I think his play will be improved with the additional weapons.

And this year I feel our “team” has the best balance since I’ve been a Bucs fan.

Obviously we’re all excited about the #weaponsforJameis and what our offense is going to do this year….but I think the D might surprise a lot of folks including even we Buc’s fans.

And the beauty is that each makes the other better…if the O can eat up some clock in the second half of those close games it makes our D automatically better…fresher and less time for an opposing NFL QB to work his magic.

And the D will make the O better by providing good field position and giving the O a chance to dominate time of possession.

Here comes tennessee tony to tell us all what jameis does not do well, why he is the reason for losses or how mariota is better in 5, 4, 3, 2………

@Stpete- Great points! The sides are complementary and considering the improvements made, this should be fun to watch.

  7. NFLNut Says:

Jameis is a living legend and his legend grows bigger by the day … I love our QB!

I knew it wouldn’t be long before somebody snatched Mariota out of their ?–$$. But what they want mention is Tenasty 😁 I know (Tennessee) has one of the weakest schedules in the NFL. While Tampa Bay has the 7th toughest. Our division gives us 6 games that will prepare us for the playoffs. That’s why our division sends the Super Bowl contender two years in a row. If we get in the party we will go to the dance. Just saying!!!
