Improvement Evident In May

May 20th, 2017

Pro Bowler Mike Evans speaks

Forget the four weapons the Bucs added recently for America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston.

The ultimate weapon is Jameis, and his improvement is paramount to the Bucs’ playoff dreams.

Yes, Jameis must improve. He’s very good but not yet great, though he’s traveling on what seems like an express bus to stardom.

The good news is Jameis isn’t resting on his accomplishments; no QB in NFL history has thrown for yards in his first two seasons. And the better news is Mike Evans hopped on NFL Network earlier this week and said Jameis already looks significantly improved — in May.

“His timing is much better. His deep ball has gotten better,” Evans said. “He’s just going to get better with time. And now he has a lot of weapons to play with. So be on the lookout.”

Such huge expectations on the Bucs this season. Joe loves it.

Joe is hoping — reading between the lines here — Evans’ comments mean Jameis already has found a little chemistry with DeSean Jackson. That connection, Joe believed, could take up to half a regular season to develop. So if they can find it sooner, Joe believes that’s just big-time gravy.

Winston refuses to stop getting better until he is the GOAT

it is fun to imagine all these weapons being used on Sunday! The only thing better will be actually seeing how it plays out this season!

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I think the huge winner other than Jameis is Mike Evans. Teams will be forced to pay attention to our TEs & other WRs……

  5. Tampa Tony Says:

Exciting to hear, hoping for a big improvement from #3 this year

  6. RayJameisStadium Says:

Ryan’s mentoring should be icing in the cake. lol

That is the best statement I’ve read about winston in a while. he will be bucs goat qb. obviously the bar has been set very low but still he will easily be bucs goat qb. It’s a shame our overpaid, overrated DT did not approach his job the same way maybe his defenses would not have played so flat in all those blowouts.

  8. Supersam Says:

Good to hear his deep ball is better, He might have had the worst deep ball I’ve ever seen next to Tim Tebow

  9. NFLNut Says:

Jameis is the GOAT 22-23 year old QB in the history of football and while he may never equal Brady’s “team success” I do think that we finally hangs them up 20+- years from now he will be the Wayne Gretzky of NFL QB’s and hold the yards, completions, attempts, TD’s and wins records.

    I love my QB!

Don’t disrespect jameis by mentioning him in same sentence with tebow in regards to football

    …………………
LOL you didn’t watch Tebow much then. The only thing he had passing wise was a good Deep ball.

Going from Lovie Smith to Dirk Koetter is like going from Obama to Trump!

And going from Josh McCown to Jameis is like trading in a beat down pickup truck for a brad new Mercedes.

    I love the new-look Bucs!

Really don’t want to send this in a political direction. What was deleted was 100% off topic. Appreciate it.–Joe

SB… I was thinking the same thing.

  14. NFLNut Says:

    Joe,

I respect your decision, no worries … however, where’s the daily update post as I’d be happy to post my comment there?

  15. Gilhealy Says:

NFLNut, barring major injury, he’ll have ’em all. I said coming in he’s a combo of Marino’s daring, Elway’s clutch, and Bert Jones toughness. He’s truly his own man. No need to make comparisons. He’s Jameis. And that will be what the rest will be compared to.

  16. johnnybuc Says:

jameis actually hasn’t thrown for the most yards to start their career even though jameis is first to throw for consecutive 4000 yard seasons andrew luck had more yards 2 seasons into his career

  17. carrythatmofostick Says:

jameis winston, is by far the best damn

  18. webster Says:

    Nflnut is just that……a nut

  19. NFLNut Says:

webster? In what way? Throwing out an unsubstantiated insult is something a “nut” would do, no?

  20. NFLNut Says:

    Gilhealy … I like the Marino/Elway/Jones comparison … I always made the Roethlisberger/Manning/McNair comparison 🙂

  21. Ndog Says:

You can always count on good ole Tampa Tony and noted Mariota lover Supersam to take a shot at Jameis in a positive article about him. Nice job coming through fellas.

  22. USFBUC Says:

Really looking forward to this season. If Jameis can improve that would be great but honestly right now he is on track in both touchdowns and passing yards to be among a few of the greatest QBs to play the game.

  23. Stpetebucsfan Says:

Sometimes you just get the great effects of serendipity. #3 would have been a waste in this offense before this year. Probably good that he had to focus on ME the first couple of years.

Now he’s had two years of virtually every snap to learn his position, how to recognize the disguised defenses of the NFL…now #3 DESERVES this dramatic influx of talent.

And I know we’re frequently guilty of hyperbole but really think about what we’ve added!!! One of the top 5 deep threats in the NFL…finally some speed at the WR and even his backup Chris Godwin has speed and talent…A young multi-talented TE who is expected to be one of the best at his position as well. Add ME13 to that mix…and Cam Brate….we don’t even need to talk about Hump or McNichols or Sims because they will be the icing…the cake is baked and ready!!!

    Minnesota or bust!!!!

  24. Buccfan37 Says:

NFLNut, morning cup of Joe only on weekdays

  25. Buc1987 Says:

    Like the worst Pres…..ever.

  26. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

NFLNut you must not be watching the news. You shoulda left politics out just like you guys say race should be left out. Trump is giving the U.S. even more a bad name with him and security chief and who knows how many others will be linked to the russians so how is he better? He’s not gonna make us great again but atleast Licht, Koetter and Mike Smith looks like thy can make the Bucs great.
