Miko To The Rescue

April 20th, 2017

Miko Grimes could make “Hard Knocks” must-see TV.

Some folks, like the creator, curator and overall guru of ProFootballTalk.com, the great Mike Florio, are bored with “Hard Knocks.”

They think it is the same show every year: Rookies try to make the team and some don’t and are told to go home, plus veteran players hanging with their families off the field and coaches and front office types wringing their hands over personnel matters with bubble players.

Joe isn’t in that camp, but it seems Eric Edholm of Yahoo! Sports is. He believes that the Bucs can save “Hard Knocks.” Why? Well, Edholm believes Miko Grimes can add needed excitement into the series.

Miko, wife of Bucs cornerback Brent Grimes, says whatever is on her mind. There is no such thing as political correctness with Miko. If you want her unvarnished truth, she will tell you but you best buckle up first. Her weekly podcast is proof.

And Edholm said someone like Miko would be a ratings spike for HBO.

Oh yeah. As in the wife of Bucs cornerback Brent Grimes. As in the woman who once fired off some salty shots at the Miami Dolphins, the team that used to employ her husband, calling out their quarterback and owner. As in the one who once was arrested for disorderly conduct, battery on a police officer and resisting arrest with violence before a Dolphins game. Yeah, that Miko.

Miko might go low, but she also aims high, folks. There might be no harder hitter in Tampa this summer, and the cameras need to be rolling.

Her Twitter feed is absolutely bat-spit crazy but must-follow material. And yes, she already has sounded off on “Hard Knocks,” promising a little “tea” for viewers should she end up on camera.

People: This has incredible potential.

Joe wholeheartedly agrees. Miko would bring — in the immortal words of Chucky — “juice” to the show.

Between Miko and America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, and the drama between Nick Folk and Roberto Aguayo, this summer’s “Hard Knocks” has serious potential.

The only place the Bucs need more “juice” is on the field come September…..simple as that. Gotta get to double-digit wins, that’s the “juice” they need!

  2. Miko Says:

What you talkin bout dog?….I be busy in the kitchen cooking for #24, “All World Cornerback!

  3. DPewter Says:

It could be all what Joe says, or she can embarrass our organization. Stay tuned to find out…

  4. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

Really hope this loudmouth racist gets absolutely zero air time!

  5. JTHV Says:

what happened to my comment Joe?

  6. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

She won’t even be on the show.

  7. buddy Says:

HBO- PLEASSSSSE Don’t have that IDIOT lady Miko on the show. Don’t give her anymore press that she obviously needs in her life. She gives our org a bad look with her actions and comments.

  8. Eric Says:

They said yesterday for every 350 minutes recorded, there is only 1 minute of aired footage. They also try to avoid tarnishing reputations.

It will be fine everyone. The only thing I’m concerned with is Jameis was having a hard time with that kid’s speech. I’m beginning to think he hates being on camera. I sure hope he doesn’t overthink it but it’s all good because once the regular season hits, he can focus.

  9. Garv Says:

Whoa! I might be the only guy blocked by both Miko and Joe. Might want to make peace at #bucsuncensored draft party on Thursday night at Sports Legends. Meanwhile, Hard Knocks is going to be a must view but we really don’t need Miko mucking it up.

  10. Maze Says:

    She is awesome

  11. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

She really is. Real live ride-or-die chic..

  12. The Buc Realist Says:

While some are worried about “juice” on NFL’s longest commercial!!!! The real fans are just waiting till next year for the “refocusing” and the “Real” goal of playoffs and the ultimate prize!!!!!!!!

The Buc Realist is handing out a “pass” to coaches and players this year!!!! As the owners “expand the brand”!!!!!!!!

Supposed to be siesta time, but already faded and checking Joe Bucs Fan!!!!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!

Especially if we draft Joe Mixon

Real Talk this season – has some major potential.
Their in a very unique position – to attack some serious issues.
That plague PLENTY of our young athletes in sports.

Talking about Redemption & overcoming adversities.

  14. Jim Says:

My entire view on Miko changed after watching her interview on youtube by Vlad TV. Miko speaks her mind, and I for one respect someone who is not afraid to do it especially in our “politically correct” world.

    #test

  16. tmaxcon Says:

Miko has way more passion and energy about the team than the highly paid, highly overrated leader of the losing culture cancer93. Imagine cancer93 talent coupled with Milo’s drive and determination that would be a football player. Instead we stuck with a mentally weak crybaby who is already setting up excuses for the upcoming year

  17. Defense Rules Says:

Thank you tmaxcon. I was starting to get worried the GMC’s name wouldn’t come up negatively in the fan comments to 1 article on JBF but you saved the day. And I for one enjoy Miko’s comments & insights on JBF, just like I do so many others. Not exactly sure why this article was even included today however. Maybe it should’ve been titled ‘Miko Might Be Too Outspoken for Hard Knocks But We Hope Not.’

  18. Tampabayucfan Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

“Don’t get Pablo wrong….Pablo loves him sum Miko….Pablo would have fathered many childrens with Miko…..but if you really want ratings on Hard Knocks, put Pablo on…..Pablo will display his elongated arc along with Hamus. Pablo will table dance for a world audience.”

  19. Joe Says:

    Miko has way more

passion and energy about the team than the highly paid, highly overrated leader of the losing culture cancer93.

    And, uh-wwwaaayyy we go… 🙁

  20. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

You guys clearly are not familiar with Hard Knocks. They tend to focus on the positives, not the negatives.

  21. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

Yeah a lot of you dudes don’t like her because she’s a loud mouth woman. Let it be a man you give him some leeway. Let her be white you give her some room. Welcome Back Koetter speaks his mind everybody is cool, hes’s such a great guy and so refreshing. She speaks her mind and she’s every bad name under the heavens. Glen Beck runs his mouth and he’s keeping it real and a patriot. Stop the double standards and accept her as she is. A man in a womans body .

  22. Pick6 Says:

i am curious about the latest Brent Grimes birthday cake

  23. Pick6 Says:

Eric Says: “I’m beginning to think he hates being on camera.”

serious question Eric, have you ever seen Winston on camera? the guy was basically born to be in the spotlight – not in a self-promoting way, just that there is not an ounce of awkwardness in him

the incident with the kids was in the middle of a LONG talk that most athletes steer clear of doing with kids for a reason that Jameis is now painfully aware of. In short, if Jameis were more like Jay Cutler (a guy who might legitimately hate the fact that his job forces him to be in front of cameras more) and just disappeared for the offseason, there would be no “incident”. It’s the product of a guy who totally owns the role of a star NFL QB for his team and in his community

  24. Capt.Tim Says:

Meybe we can get Tmaxipad on film!
He can talk about how McCoy grinding on his girlfriend, has left him a shattered, tragically neurotic man!
Doomed to labor away all day, submitting post after Post about the Buc who ruined his life
    Oh, the Humanity!!
    ( Camera fades to Black)

  25. Capt.Tim Says:

    Bigdavebucs . .
Thats because Beck and Koetter are smart enough, not to insult the organization that pays them. Or be loudly vocal about things they no nothing about.
    Its being smart.

But personally- I think Miko will make for good TV. Its rare to see the wife of a young millionaire, explode like the fans in the cheapseats!
I like the raw edge to her comments!
    Goooo Miko

  26. BFFL Says:

The rest of the nation wants to watch entertainment at the expense of the Bucs success if needed. Bucs brass needs to ignore this pressure to entertain and keep the team focused on the ultimate goal which is to win.

  27. rayjay1122 Says:

I am cool with Miko. She has the courage to speak her mind, like it or not, she does not give in to the the political correctness nonsense. Also who cares if she is or says racist comments. I don’t know if she is racist or not but I do know people of all races need to grow thicker skin and quit being so sensitive to everything. That racial problem really goes both ways and the only way to squash it is to not let it affect you. They just want the attention so don’t give it to them.

  28. TampaTown Says:

As Ashley Judd would say she is a Naasstttyy woman. She’s gross and totally racist. Seems like she for real has a problem with white people. Check out her IG. She doesn’t deserve a second of our time.

  29. Stpetebucsfan Says:

I think MIKO will be given a chance to shine. But as one poster pointed out the VAST MAJORITY of what is recorded ends up on the cutting room floor. If she messes up she’ll just fall victim to the producer/editor of the segment.

HBO has any number of stories they are not wed to any other than the obvious…
#3…star players…and the rookie battles…and of course THE KICKERS will be front and center.

    BucBonzai made an excellent point.

You guys clearly are not familiar with Hard Knocks. They tend to focus on the positives, not the negatives.

And so while I agree with LUVMYBUCS observation that the NFL/HBO ‘could” make an excellent story about violence against women and illustrate it with Mixon. Yeah they could but they are far more concerned about the Corporate bottom line than their corporate conscience.

And in fairness it is a BUSINESS. I can easily see HBO doing a segment on Mixon…and Luv’s idea for it is excellent…but it will appear on “Real Sports” or some other ratings loser. They’re not going to jeopardize a feature product that not only brings them numbers but a show the NFL must view as a HUGE commercial for the 2017 season. They do not want to be promoting Martin’s drug problem or Mixon’s anger management issues. These are two subjects that are very touchy to today multibilliondollar league. Just ain’t gonna happen. NO upside lots of downside.

  30. 813bucboi Says:

@realist….nawl breh…aint no passes this year…its playoffs or bust….GO BUCS!!!!

  31. Frank n Furter Says:

    Miko ain’t ever wrong!

but she is a total dbag.

    REality TV loves dysfunctional drama.

    Joe Mixon at 19

  32. Wesley Says:

She is a disgusting, narcissistic, human being.

  33. MadMax Says:

Im not worried about her….let her be herself and if some of it makes the cut, Im sure it’ll be sensational but alright. This will be the best hard knocks!! Yeah Im biased, but this will be the best one.
