    Hopefully he makes the team.

  2. rich Says:

Haha…from NFL.com profile of him: “Soft-spoken but carries a walloping stick”

  3. Billy Buc N Brazil Says:

Wow!! Just Fn Wow!! Well that is a head scratcher!! Just took a little piece of my heart with that fart!!

  4. Rrsrq Says:

Not a fan, he hits but doesn’t wrap up. Hopefully he proves me wrong, why not the safety from Uconn. And why does Mayock think he will start opposite of Ryan Smith, do your homework

  5. Jason Says:

Not happy, with Godwin or Harris and other players still available. Hmm.

  6. IndyBucsFan Says:

We got a TE and a safety 1&2. The only 2 positions the joes didn’t think we need to hit on early 😂😂😂

  7. DSZ Says:

Gambles a lot and will miss tackles…awesome! That’s exactly what I want when we spend a second round pick on a safety.

  8. jmoneyisback Says:

Licht has lost his damn mind.

  9. Jersey Buc Says:

I get the feeling that unless they trade up, they won’t be getting any edge rushers in this draft. None of the top guys, anyway.

  10. Rojas Says:

Not a fan yet. Way better players there.

  11. jmoneyisback Says:

LOL. Then Demarcus Walker goes right after him. Draft so far D-. Only because OJ Howard is a good blocker.

  12. Greg Says:

Once again, another shirty pick 2nd round for the bucs! Perine sitting there to be picked, you have a drug addict RB and they pass for a mediocre safety!

  13. Billy Buc N Brazil Says:

I’m beginning to believe Jason L. is so hung over after the first that he has his 6 year old boy making these picks on auto pilot!! Much more value out there than Evans at this point!!!

  14. Eric Says:

Yawn. I guess we’ll find out if he can tackle Cook.

  15. Bird Says:

Ranked 115th on cbs. They could have gotten this guy in 4th. Holy dog crap. Man. Licht may have had one to many beers last night

  16. CRob Says:

    This pick makes now sense

  17. 813bucboi Says:

    Really wanted Demarcus walker….Go Bucs

  18. ptwalk Says:

    A hitter, I like it.

  19. Skyline Crew Says:

He’s a playmaker and we need a playmaker on the D side. I still think our secondary is suspect. I like the pick.

  20. Rossta Says:

It would have been to nice hear about and to see some highlights on the the Bucs pick and BSPN talks 10 min about Joe Mixen who gives a crap. What a joke way to go BSPN

    A hitter, I like it.

    ——————-

Yeah, when it’s not missing. This guy is garbage.

  22. Greg Says:

Screw Licht, this guy is just another 2nd round turf they’ll hang onto way too long that won’t amount to anything!

  23. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Not gonna lie Joe. As it stands right now, I would’ve preferred Chris Godwin.

    But I trust Licht.

  24. Nybucsfan Says:

    In the 2nd why?

  25. SOEbuc Says:

If he can play like our other Evans from Texas A&M, I will be very pleased.

  26. JGhoti86 Says:

Y’all are so funny. In 1 pick (last night to tonight) Licht has gone from genius to Licht has lost it and his mind in the process. You think maybe it just might be the collective you in that thought process…

  27. Eric Says:

Really, Carolina gets Samuel and we get …. sorry I forgot his name. A freaking nobody who is slow and can’t tackle. Great! This guy can’t make second round picks to save his life. In Light I no longer trust…smh

  28. Lord Corn Says:

    Hm

  29. Old Bill Says:

He actually grades as a second round pick but all you GMs are ever so smart…

  30. Franka4211 Says:

The last time the Bucs selected someone named Evans that was from Texas A& M, he turned out to be pretty darn good…… Just sayin

  31. DSZ Says:

    Hey, if you like numbers:

38 missed tackles in 2 seasons – 219th in tackling efficiency among safeties

210th in run stop percentage among safeties

    Also – “overcommits to everything”

    2nd rounder !!! woohoo!

  32. Nybucsfan Says:

    Won’t even see the field

  33. Eric Says:

That’s the equivalent to dropping a pass while all alone in the endzone.

  34. Gencoimports Says:

NFL.com had him ranked 53rd vs. 115 on cbs. … where is the disconnect?

I’m going to wait and see on this guy. Licht I guess knows something we don’t.

    —————–

Not me. I’m apparently only one of the people that have watched OJ Howard his entire career and to say we blew our first round draft pick is an understatement. Licht just went from dumb to dumber IMO.

  36. ImJustHereForJameisNews Says:

Don’t know anything about this kid, honestly never even heard of him but DAMN would’ve loved Demarcus Walker right there. I trust in Licht though so I’ll reserve judgement before I start criticizing the pick. Might end up being one of the better safeties from this draft for all I know…

  37. Blake_bucsfan Says:

let it be known I have watched zero tape of Evans, and cannot make even a partially informed opinion.

Like I said I trust Licht.

  38. SOEbuc Says:

    @Rossta

I know right. They skipped about three team player’s highlights talking about Joe Mixon. Ridiculous.

  39. Buc1987 Says:

    Oh boy.

  40. NashvilleBuc Says:

Looks like pretty good hands and hustle to me.

I’m going to wait and see on this guy. Licht I guess knows something we don’t.

    ———————-

The disconnect is the NFL still thinks the SEC is the best conference in college football so everybody from there is the greatest. It should be clear by now that the vast majority of draft “experts” don’t actually watch these guys in college, just highlights.

  42. Buc1987 Says:

Yes Blake…and ESPN dropped the ball for any highlights.

  43. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

This pick of ours had the benefit of Myles Garrett on his team.
I hope Licht knows something we don’t ……

  44. Buccfan37 Says:

Looked decent in the highlights, think it’s a good pick.

  45. JA Says:

@jghot86..couldn’t agree more! Reading JBF posts is like absorbing the mindless chatter in a third grade playground…undeveloped attention spans, run amok!!

  46. LakeLandBuc Says:

I’m not gonna lie I wanted Jordan Willis, Josh Jones, Obi or Chris Godwin..oh well.

  47. Skyline Crew Says:

@DSZ, since you only show the bad, I’ll show the good.

-Has the ball skills not only to time his breakup without going through the receiver and taking a penalty, but can also high-point and catch the ball away from his frame.

-Has outstanding range – can make plays to the boundary on the back end, as well as get to the ball carrier at the line of scrimmage when working from a traditional safety alignment.

-Gave up an average of just 8.3 yards per reception and two touchdowns in 2016 while intercepting four passes and breaking up eight.

-2 coverage grade ranked third-best among FBS safeties in 2016.

-Did not give up a reception longer than 14 yards after September this season.

  48. DB55 Says:

My third leg is bigger than this guy.

  49. LakeLandBuc Says:

I like Justin Evans, don’t get me wrong. I think he is a good SS with good ball skills.

  50. Stpetebucsfan Says:

Wow. I’m a huge Jason Licht fan and will remain one even if this pick does blow up as badly as Mark Barron.

We still get sick at the thought of passing on Luke Kuechely to take Barron.
But we felt OK at MLB I guess and that had too much influence? That and the fear of cover TE’s in our division…which Barron never did either!

I hope we’re not having this same convo after Demarcus Walker blows up as a pass rusher while our safety is OK.

  51. John Herb Says:

Do you Monday morning quarterbacks really think Coach Smith (NOT Lovie) didn’t sign of on this guy??? Everyone complains about wanting players with heart and THIS GUY HAS HEART. Hard hitter who wants to play! I trust Licht, Kotter and Smith. Fundamentals can be taught. Heart can’t!!

  52. SOEbuc Says:

All I know is before the weeks and months before the draft I was looking into safeties and he was pretty high up there. We needed a safety. I trust Jason Licht, Dirk Koetter, and I’m assuming Mike Smith might of had a little input on this. So let’s calm down with all the haters that have already commented and see what happens.

  53. JA Says:

Hey Chris, since Joe gives you a free ad every time you post, how much to clean my roof?

  54. FIRETHECANNONS Says:

Instead of already labeling this kid a bust, why don’t we wait and see what he does on the field. Don’t be salty that YoUR guy wasn’t picked. He’s on the team now – wish him the best.. There’s no appeasing some of you people..

  55. Walter Says:

    Boooooooooooo!!!

  56. Joe Says:

Like I said I trust Licht.

    Same.

  57. Skyline Crew Says:

Player comparison: Earl Thomas, Seattle Seahawks

High praise, but this comp is more about athleticism and playing style than expected next-level production. Like Evans, Thomas is an explosive athlete who has been outstanding in coverage throughout his career but has missed 95 tackles in seven seasons with the Seahawks, including 12 this past season despite playing just 693 snaps due to injury.

-And we all know Earl Thomas sucks. I bet the Seahawks never wanted him on the team. haha

  58. LakeLandBuc Says:

He’s a good coverage Safety. I think the Bucs will play him at FS instead of SS. This is a solid pick for the Bucs, I had him on my radar. Hopefully they start him at FS this season. i believe he can step in and start at FS for us.

  59. Vico Says:

Was co- defensive MVP alongside M Garrett. Voted by his teammates, that I respect.

  60. Tbbucs3 Says:

So far we’re 1 For 1 on Evans from Texas A&M, how bout 2 For 2?

  61. DR FEELGOOD Says:

Anyone who says this is a stupid pick is stupid. There is no way that your “evaluation” having him as a 4th rounder means squat!! Go watch video of this guy!! He’s a baller!!!

  62. LakeLandBuc Says:

Now we need to draft Oklahoma OLB Jordan Evans tomorrow in the 4th or 5th.

  63. TampaBay AllDay Says:

    Who??? I guess

  64. Mike Says:

Well, I have seen some comparisons to Earl Thomas, so that is high praise. If he can even come close to that, it will be a heck of a pick. Also, I remember not liking the Kwon Alexander pick much a few years back, but that turned out just fine, so I will give the Bucs scouting department the benefit of the doubt.

  65. Capt.Tim Says:

The Bucs intention- IMO, is to start Evans at Free safety, Wilcox at Strong Safety.
Wilcox is a massive hitter, that is young enough to be improved by good coaching.
Gonna have to trust Licht on Both of our new safeties.

Was home last night. Watching Draft on NFl network.
    Tonight, stuck with BSPN

    BSPN sucks! Hard!!

  66. LakeLandBuc Says:

I got my man Chris Godwin

  67. NCFlorIdiot Says:

Eric… You’re a dumb ass… Licht knows what he’s doing… Just sit back and relax… We’re about to light this league on fire!
