Among many not tagged.

Some good news for Bucs fans as Joe is readying for his second day in Indianapolis for the NFL Scouting Combine, where winter has returned to the Midwest.

Typical, as the saying goes in these parts, if you don’t like the weather, just wait a few hours.

Yesterday afternoon was the deadline for teams to franchise free agent players to prevent them from flying the coop. Only seven teams used the franchise tag — and that lets two players Bucs fans have keen interest in test the free agent waters if they so choose.

Despite previous reports, the Chiefs and manly defensive tackle Dontari Poe could not come to terms. So Poe, provided he doesn’t re-sign in the next eight days, is ripe for the taking.

Also in Cleveland, the hapless Browns did not tag wide receiver Terrell Pryor. He, too, can test the free agent waters if he doesn’t come to terms with Cleveland.

Today, players will be made available to reporters in position groups and Joe is geeked up to talk to a few of the running backs. Joe wonders if America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, has been working on Dalvin Cook at all?

Well Well Well…. who will we go after….. C.C. and T.P.

  2. Waterboy Says:

Poe isn’t worth top 5 DT pay so it didn’t surprise me that he wasn’t tagged. I haven’t been all that impressed with him. I’d rather have Campbell or Fairley.

  3. firethecannons Says:

Joe–get some interviews with WR’s if possible, Dede Westbook–kid is a burner–can be found deep in the 4th round, he is thin and has hx of off field issues but in 4th round who cares!

  4. Bird Says:

Terrell Pryor not tagged is huge. The more top end receivers left in free agency the lower the end number will be. Thought with only one or two top guys that those guys might get in 15 range which is absurd. Only 2 or 3 guys worth that and mike Evans is one of those guys

  5. Harry in Costa Rica Says:

I would REALLY LOVE to get Pryor! Poe or Campbell would be wonderful too. But I am not sure if Licht is into signing the bigger FAs. Licht was very efficient and effective with the FA signings he did last year, but not a big name in the bunch really. Will he throw barrels of money at Pryor or Stills? Poe or Campbell? We will know in 8 more days

  6. Mort Says:

I don’t know why you guys have such a hard on for Pryor. I just can’t understand it. His teammates don’t exactly love him, and he is pretty mediocre.

  7. tmaxcon Says:

Great chance to get a quality DT and replace the leader of the losing culture with a man that wants to win.

  8. GETACLUE Says:

Mort maybe cause he has the speed to take the top of the defense, he can run over you or jump over you. He only dropped four passes had over 1000 yards with the worst QB situation possible. Maybe watch some tape sometime. Not really concerned about his teammates view that have losing mentalities on a loser team and he has a passion for winning and some guys just want to cash their check and he has a passion for the game and to win.

  9. Bradinator Says:

Talk to Kareem Hunt for sure, Joe! I like this kid, and I want hear what kind of impression you get from him.

  10. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Tmax, you are an idiot if you think Dontari Poe can replace GMC. Actually, just remove that condition. We all know you are an idiot anyway.

  11. LoBi Says:

Joe im curious what you think about adding Jamal Charles? Should be able to land him for the same salary as Martin and he is a complete back if healthy.

  12. Eric Says:

We currently pay 16 million in 2017 to McCoy. We are not going to add another 10 or whatever it is to the same position. Sorry guys, we are not picking up Poe and investing nearly $30 million dollars at defensive tackle.

  13. USFBUC Says:

@ Mort – I think you need to read up on what his teammates think of him some more. The articles I have seen, with the exception of the on field argument with RG3, have all talked about how hard a worker Pryor is and how he has dedicated himself to the team and getting better. Regarding the argument even RG3 brushed off the argument after the game as just a disagreement about the play.

  14. The Buc Realist Says:

Eric hit the nail on the head!!! I been following Joe’s free-agency wish list and it amounts to the most expensive D-line in the NFL and the offense will have to run some form of Power I formation as its base!!!!!!! Of course when some were saying last year to draft a DT during the supposed deepest DT draft, Joe’s answer was the DT was the “strength” of the defense!!!!

  15. unbelievable Says:

Dede Westbrook is not lasting to the 4th round.

Pryor wants to get paid big money. He has some crazy skills but not sure his work ethic, route running, or consistency is high enough to warrant that.

I’m looking a CC as the biggest free agent target. Beef up that d-line! Bring in more nasty! Poe would be nice too but I agree with Eric, don’t think they will put that much money into a single position on the line. (Although Poe and McCoy would be NASTY!)

  16. BigHogHaynes Says:

Build a WALL ….on both sides of the ball…..but not in Mexico….dumb ass!!

  17. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

Poe should be our #1 priority in free agency. Him and GMC together would make our entire D better. He is young and a beast inside. Signing him and Cyprien would solve so many issues for out D.

  18. FireJasonLicht Says:

Dontari Poe is not what we need. We need PASS RUSHERS which he is not . They okay 3-4 in KC. SMH. Idiots…..
