Knock Off The Brandin Cooks Caca

March 3rd, 2017

Not coming

Are Bucs fans so desperate for a wide receiver that they have lost their minds?

Yes, the Bucs need a wide receiver. Joe wishes he had a dollar for every time winning Bucs coach Dirk Koetter mentioned the position while making his many media rounds at the NFL Combine at the Indiana Convention Center on Wednesday.

Ok, so word pops yesterday that Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks can be had in a trade.

Almost immediately, Bucs fans began punching their smartphone keyboards demanding Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht should drag Saints general manager Mickey Loomis to St. Elmo’s to consummate a trade.

Sober up!

Exactly why would the Saints trade a weapon like Cooks to a division rival? The only way this could happen is if Loomis totally robbed Licht of many high draft picks. Licht isn’t this naive (save for the occasional rapture over a kicker).

Short of Licht securing video of a married high-level Saints official having a dalliance with a gender-confused French Quarter solicitor, this just isn’t happening.

The Bucs very well could trade for a receiver, but it won’t be within the NFC South barring Licht going totally drunken sailor.

With the cap money the Bucs have available, I don’t see why they would give up a very valuable draft pick for any player. The Bucs are in a very good position with the draft and FA to really make an impact on this team. Hopefully, Licht will not go all Ted Thompson on us in FA. I have a fear of that.

Koetter been talkin YAC for awhile now. My hope is he will be paying close attention to Adarius Stewart. I read an article on yahoo sports, he’s one of the best in this draft class when it comes to yards after catch.

I’ve not seen a large groundswell of support on here to trade for Cooks…

  4. Bird Says:

Let eagles pay up for him so another receiver available for us

    @DallasBuc

I brought it up yesterday as a joke/speculation but yea that was the first Ive seen Cooks name brought up on this site anyway.

  6. Jeagan1999 Says:

Of course it’s unlikely…for the obvious reasons. Unless Coach Koetter is so enamoured with Cooks that he is willing to pay more than market value to secure him from New Orleans. I’m sure just about every team with a need at WR might contact Loomis to see what they are asking, including the Bucs. But as much as we could dream about Evans and Cooks on the field together, it’s a long shot to be sure.

  7. Guzzie Says:

Another problem with Cooks is his contract is up soon, think he came out in Evans draft, he’s gonna want the get paid, no way we’d pay him and Evans so he’d be a short term player

  8. Tom Edrington Says:

We’ll file it with the Brandon Marshall Ca-Ca that Joe(s) put out there.

  9. Dewey Selmon Says:

Former drunken sailor here, after 6 months at sea, gender doesn’t really matter anymore. Especially in Thailand. GO BUCS!!!

  10. Buccfan37 Says:

After reading a recent article mentioning the Saints HC’s knack for acquiring and developing WR talent I am also suspicious of his cuts at that position. I think I read it through a link here.

  11. Jeagan1999 Says:

Alex Marvez on Sirius radio said today he believes it would only cost a 2nd round pick to pry Cooks free from the Saints. God only knows if that is true, but if it is, would the Bucs be willing to give up #19 for this guy? Who knows. Is he worth the 19 pick? He does have 2 years left on his rookie deal, so he wouldn’t cost that much just yet.

Still seems like a real long shot.

  12. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I’m against ANY trades that cost us picks except the draft day trades Licht likes to make. Why give up picks??

Now if we can do an even trade or acquire some extra picks? That I would possible agree with.

  13. R.O. Says:

Any and every player is available for trade..

😂😂😂Ha H Ha! Some of the ca ca Joe (s) bring up sometimes and he’s telling us to pipe down. Now he’s inflating the amount of people who demand that Lichtenschtein make a trade for Cooks. I don’t recall seeing anyone talking linch mobs if he didn’t. We get some grrreat news up here but also Joe is good for laugher or two. Joe is a funny guy! So entertaining.

  15. unbelievable Says:

No, he’s not worth our #19 pick.

    Simple as that.

  16. CarolinaBucFan Says:

You know what? Let’s give up a really valuable first round pick and hurt ourselves, and to make it a double whammy let’s give it to a division rival! Brilliant lol

  17. JonBuc Says:

Nothing to see here…won’t happen. The Bucs do need that “bridge” WR 2-3 years ( DeSean…dat you?! ) to go along with some younger talent. Evans is going to get a monster deal one day and few if any teams can afford multiple “max contracts” at one position not to mention Winston’s upcoming windfall.
