Jameis Heading To Katy For A Bucs Gathering

February 4th, 2017

On the move

Yes, America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, has begun his rigorous offseason training program.

And it will move west.

Talking to Mike Evans at the Pro Bowl last week, Joe learned that Evans will be joining three Bucs receivers [for now] to work with a performance trainer in Katy, Texas, just west of Houston.

Evans is a south Texas guy and has family there, and he will join new Bucs receiver and CFL star Derrel Walker, Josh Huff and Russell Shepard in training. Shepard and Evans lived near each other during the 2016 offseason and worked together. Huff grew up in Houston and Walker played with Evans at Texas A&M.

There are four Bucs receivers gathering, so of course, Jameis will be making the trek, Evans said.

Yes, Jameis is still seeking any possible edge he can find. Sleep easily tonight knowing the Bucs are in good hands.

Now, if we could just find a way to squeeze Hump, and mass adding Cam ‘make a America Brate Again’ in there, we’d be set.

  2. Stpetebucsfan Says:

I still have high hopes for Brate. He obviously has good hands…the smarts to find the seams in defenses…he needs to gain some more muscle mass as well as learn to block better.

We know Brate is working on his nutrition and exercise regimen to take care of the first problem…if he could gain some size it might help with the 2nd problem but I suspect he’s already found a TE guru somewhere helping him with his blocking technique.

I do not see why this guy cannot become our version of Tyler Eifert.

Now..put Desean Jackson on wide side opposite ME13…float Curtis Samuels all over the formation from the slot to backfield occasionally perhaps even out wide..add in Dalvin out of the backfield..running and catching…and all of the sudden Brate becomes a real weapon!!!

    need more talent.

I believe Josh Huff will be a good receiver next season.

  5. Buc4Lyfe79 Says:

Imagine that..the 2 receivers Jaboo named as setting the standard for offseason work in Hump and Brate aren’t there…guess these are the guys that need to play catch-up minus Evans…Stay on em Jaboo!!!

  6. LifeOfABucFan Says:

Are there any rules concerning the team practicing together on their own time?

    And this is good news..

  7. Bob in valrico Says:

    @life of a Buc
believe its fine as long as no coaches are present

  8. LifeOfABucFan Says:

Thanks Bob..I was wondering that for so long..

Jameis just tweeted a pic of him visiting Jovorskie Lane at Katy..how I wish he was back as a Buc..

  9. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I have a feeling Derrel Walker s going to be the steal this year.

    @Joe

Love to see this but it also serves as a reminder at how short on weapons we are on offense.

I know, I know, people are already sick of hearing the name Dalvin Cook, but I don’t care. I want the guy in pewter and red next year, and I think there’s a real chance he’s going to be there for us at 19.

Every single team that he’s being mocked to (CLE, PHI, IND) has much bigger needs than RB. Furthermore, every single fan base and front office is having the same debate we’re having here in Tampa, ie: Can’t you get a RB later in the draft?

I think Cook is a unique talent…the kid is a TD waiting to happen. And while those other teams have bigger needs than RB, I think it’s pretty obvious that position is our biggest area of need going into the offseason. If we go into week 1 with Quizz and Barber as our top 2, we are screwed.

I honestly wouldn’t be shocked to see Licht try to trade up to 12ish to grab Cook, but I think there’s a real chance he lasts until 19 even if we don’t.

Don’t worry yourself with that 19 spot Cream. He’ll wear Pewter and Red. I can feel it…

  13. Buc4Lyfe79 Says:

DAMMIT MAN!!! Closing in on the 7oclock hour and still no HOF announcement…I’m worried the longer it takes for them to make up their minds the slimmer Lynch’s chances get which would be a injustice and all around BS move.

  14. Joe Says:

DAMMIT MAN!!! Closing in on the 7oclock hour and still no HOF announcement

Process completed at 5:30 p.m. Unless someone leaks it, announcement scheduled for 8 p.m. on NFL Network.

  15. Buc4Lyfe79 Says:

Thanks for the update Joe, we all know Ira BROUGHT IT, but knowing that still hasn’t helped save my fingernails.

  16. USFBUC Says:

I wonder if this group workout is more for reporting back to the coaches and staff about the viability of these other guys as WRs moving forward. Brate and Hump aren’t there but they are both clearly part of the team plan. Evans is there to continue his work with Jameis and also to evaluate Huff, Shep, and Walker.

  17. Captain Buc Says:

    This just makes me happy.

  18. JAB83 Says:

Darel Walker needs to wear #19

  19. orlbucfan Says:

Aren’t Hump and Brate still recovering from late season injuries? Still, this is great news!! Fameis, ME13, Shep, Huff and newbie Walker are on a mission to WIN (and not by Beli-CHEATING). GO BUCS!!
