Speaking on KRLD-FM 103.5 Friday, Jerry Jones, the Cowboys’ shotcaller who once referred to Johnny Football as the modern day “Elvis,” believes there is one main reason to fear the offense of the Bucs. And that’s because of native Texan, Bucs wide receiver Mike Evans, documents Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News.
“I don’t think we’ll contain him,” Jones said of Evans. “I think he will get catches. The quarterback will really throw the ball for long gains. That’s a real challenge.
“To me, that really separates this quarterback from the pack. He will throw that ball deep. He’s got a guy there that will go up and get it against always smaller, physically, defensive backs. That’s a heck of a weapon.”
While there is good reason for Jones to fear Evans, there is no reason for the Cowboys to fear any other Bucs receiver. Period.
If the Porta Potty-defense of the Saints can lock up the Bucs’ passing offense for lack of weapons, surely Dallas defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli can do the same.
Marinelli, a disciple of Father Dungy and bosom buddy of Lovie Smith, isn’t stubborn enough to keep running the same defense and not swing help to Evans’ side to take him out, is he?
If Jones is accurate that America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, will find Evans early and often, that bodes very well for the Bucs tonight.

Very excited to see this game. Its great competition and playoff like atmosphere. I predict a Bucs win in a close game.

Still not a believer…happy the Bucs are winning, but don’t believe they’ll win tonight. Hopefully, they’ll keep it close. If they do win it will be on a huge mistake the Cowboys make. If they play straight up, they’ll lose. Tough loss for this time of year. Bucs must win out to get in the playoffs. Too big a task for this group.

Rich do you watch football? The team playing the best d in the NFL, a pro bowl receiver with a special QB and a special teams that is playing outstanding needs another team to give them the game. Wasn’t clamoring for Evans as much as I was for Jameis, but I clamored quite a bit. I knew this kid would be a helluva weapon just looking at his size. He’s almost like the size of a TE playing WR. Which really isn’t fair to DB’s, but as a Buc fan I’m still of course ecstatic over the kid like everyone else.

Nothing against Rod here, but he’s not all that. He was awful as a head coach, and his defense in Dallas after Kiffen was demoted was 14th overall. Sounds pretty average. Joe is just relying on the old “halo effect” in thinking Rod is better than he is given his time with Dungy here in Tampa. Not so Joe!

Jerruh is a missin the boat, now. He should worry about a whole slew of things, namely the unhealthy commotion he is causing his team by playing word games on the two QBs he has. All that aside, Hump is the real sleeping giant, along with Cam Brate and Sims (as a receiver) and the one-two punch of Doug and Quiz with Luke healthy. And that’s just the O. But I like it that way. One Dallas media article called GMac a DE.
