Focused Bucs

Explains how to stay locked in.

Explains how to stay locked in.

When Joe had a chance to chat with Bucs stud wide receiver Mike Evans recently, Joe wondered how he and his teammates can so mentally lock in on the task at hand.

Sure, Bucs coach Dirk Koetter and the players can say all day long it’s about the next game and the next practice and the next meeting. But everywhere the players go, every time they log onto the internet, every time they turn on a radio or any number of cable sports channels, there it is: The Bucs are tied for the division lead with three games to go and have a legitimate shot at the playoffs.

When they go home, when they go out at night for dinner, when they go bowling, everybody and their brother is talking playoffs.

Joe wondered how in the heck the players can stay so locked in without themselves thinking playoffs.

America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, told Joe last week it is in the back of his mind, the playoffs. But if the Bucs don’t do their due diligence there will be no playoffs, so it doesn’t matter.

“It’s in my mind, but going 1-0 [each week] is very important to us as a team,” Jameis said. “We’re not really trying to look forward. Coach [Todd] Monken says all the time, ‘Be where your feet are.’ We’ve got to keep winning. As long as we keep getting W’s, the playoffs are going
to be in there.’’

Essentially, Evans told Joe the same thing.

“Of course, we know we have a chance for the playoffs,” Evans said. “But that is the easiest way to think about it: one game at a time. If we take care of business one week at a time, then we will be in the playoffs.

“Do what coach asks me to do,” Evans said. “Coach Dirk has done a great job of putting me into positions to make plays. That’s all I have to worry about is to do my job.”

There is that phrase: Do your job. Joe has heard Jameis say that. We all have heard that from Bill Belicheat. Even former Bucs commander Greg Schiano used to say that.

And it is true: If the Bucs do their job, they could break this awful playoff drought.

Mike and Davante Adams are my WR’s this weekend and it is the second round of the PLayoffs. I would feel great if Melvin Gordon wasn’t out. I don’t have another RB on the bench that is active!!!! GO MIKE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m freakin nervous y’all. I’m driving 6 hours to see my boys play in dallas and I might not sleep that good tonight. I believe in my boys but I can’t imagine how they feel right now. I don’t remember a gane bring so hyped up like this one. It’s everywhere and everyone is talking about it. I can’t wait though what atmosphere for Sunday night football. This one is going to be good.

If all bucs fans think about this…….

…..this the biggest game the bucs will play since the superbowl!

Almost 10 years of pure fan fustrations can be wiped away with this win.

Playoffs would be nice……but I just want a win against the so called best team in the NFL and send the Cowboys organization into turmoil at the QB position.
