The Culture Has Changed

Gerald McCoy weeping in the shower is one piece of evidence, says Jameis Winston.

Time of death for Loserville: 7:01 p.m.

Beating the Chiefs and Seahawks back to back is no fluke.

The Bucs are for real, and even if they don’t make the playoffs, the culture had changed.

Mission accomplished, Dirk Koetter.

The head coach talked about needing to flip the losing culture of the team during the Bucs’ brutal September. Some teams have that special something, he said, some don’t. And the Bucs didn’t.

Something has changed.

Following today’s win, America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, talked about Gerald McCoy crying in the shower about family unity and about how Jameis had never seen a grown man show such emotion. Apparently, McCoy’s weeping was before kickoff and inspired the team.

Other guys in the locker room are talking about family a lot this month.

Whatever is going on, it has worked.

The Bucs are riding a three game winning streak. They’re healthy. They have a franchise quarterback. And they are brimming with a quiet confidence.

Credit can be spread all over the place. But it starts and ends with the head coach.

Simple as that.

    And GO BUCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. JonBuc Says:

Kuddos to Koetter…stupid me even suggested he may be “one & done”. How about Verner? Was that inspired play or what?! I also owe Mike Smith an apology…he’s turned it around as well. What an enjoyable win…occasional puckered up moments and all.

  5. tmaxcon Says:

HUGE upgrade over the last hire which was nothing more than a pathetic PR stunt by the glazers to relive the past.

  6. Warthog Says:

Give Koetter a raise! WE finally finally finally have a REAL hc and a REAL QB and a REAL chance To put together a multi-year period of enjoyable, competitive football. WE are REAL AGAIN and it feels GOOOOOOOOOD

  7. Mort Says:

Joes, I’m sure you caught that Dirk officially called on you to retire the Den of Depression moniker, right?

  8. Drew Says:

It’s all about family. The culture has changed to family and holding one another up. It has been a long process.

  9. lightningbuc Says:

I was at the game. Can someone enlighten me on the last play of the first half and why the referee didn’t stop the clock for the receiver going out of bounds?

  10. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Where’s BigHog and Bucnut at? That’s what I thought!

  11. Phillybuc Says:

    lightningbuc
They said the hit stopped his forward progress prior to going out
    Marginal call

  12. The Buc Realist Says:

Jameis says: Mr Realist, what did you eat with Thanksgiving?

    The Buc Realist says: Turkey!!!

Jameis says: what’s the biggest turkey you ever heard of?

The Buc Realist says: bighogheinous!!! He is the biggest JIVE-Turkey of all!!!!!!

With the roster still short in talent in some positions, it is just amazing how well the coaching is hiding the short comings and just dictating to teams!!!!

Well done Coaches!!!!!! I have been a full support even before coach my scheme was told on the phone!!!!!!! It is now paying dividends!!!!!!

    Improvement Indeed!!!!!!!!!

  13. NCFlorIdiot Says:

I live in NC, just got home from work and the damn game didn’t record for some reason… Do any of you guys know how get the game on the internet? Please and thank you!

  14. NonyaDamnBucsiness Says:

    lightingbuc,

I believe it was because he was hit inbounds and knocked backwards which negated forward progress. Then he went out. That is how I interpreted the call.

I will say, the stadium sounded louder than I’ve heard it in years! It must have been rocking at the game?

  15. Buccfan37 Says:

    Helluva good game by Winston.

  16. MarineBucsFan Says:

    Lightning,

It was explained that the player was hit backwards in the field of play, by rule it does not matter that he landed out of bounds. In this scenario the clock continues to run.

  17. ARGH_M8E Says:

I could of cry I’m so happy! I’ve been as tough as anyone on these BUCS when they’ve played like crap. NOW… this is why we’ve been tough on ya, this is what your capable of. WE HAVE THE TALENT AND NOW THE HEART… You came together as a FAMILY and now play as a TEAM. Inspiring football men! WELL DONE!!! WAY To SHOW UP TODAY TAMPA FANS, I applaud you as well! Go BUCS!!! Chargers – you’re next!!!!

  18. SeanyMacinSC Says:

Need an article about the Bucs punting game, pinned Seahawks deep every time. Roberto on the other hand……

  19. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

How about an article about McCoy! He had a hell of a game!

  20. Doctor Stroud Says:

The culture change is more of an attitude change, and it starts with America’s (2nd Most Hated) Game-Manager QB Jameis Winston, who aggressively goes for the bomb rather than the check down. We might have to add “gunslinger” to his many nicknames. On defense, everyone could see that the mentality was to not allow for the big play but be aggressive and punish receivers as soon as they catch the ball. It worked on the Graham fumble, for example. Enjoy the huge win, and listen to your coach: be humble! Come back into work tomorrow (or Tuesday) and focus on the next “playoff” game. The Bucs are in the hunt!

  21. BigHogHaynes Says:

9 wins that’s all I’ve been saying! 9 wins, we need to get there, we should get there, 9 wins! HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YHE BUC REALIST….R. RUSSELL is a talent that just came off the street, he is what this defence needed and he single handily improved the play of this defence today, but if coaching turns you on…….I’ll stick with TALENT! Great team win! GO BUCS!

  22. Frank Pillow Says:

Dirks Xs &Os are the best we’ve ever seen in these parts. Don’t Gruden me either. I loved Jon the Coach, but he would often shoehorn his system above the players. Don’t get me wrong about my appreciation for Gruden- but today we have an elite NFL game planner on our sidelines who schemes and plays match ups in impressive manner. Sure he’s still learning the HC thing…but kudos to Dirk and the quality staff he has put together.

  23. Dooshlarue Says:

I’d like to buy GMC an ice cream cone.

  24. tmaxcon Says:

    TouchDownTampaBay

don’t get too excited. she had a great game today that is WHAT she is SUPPOSED to do EVERY week. when she strings a few good games together without getting hurt then you can spout off at the mouth. GMC did what he is paid to do nothing special.

  25. JD diehard buc fan out of sin city Says:

We a familyy and everything is coming together…we have a good team and we are not scared of anybody….great win BUCNATION

  26. Tbbucs3 Says:

I believe coach Kotter made a “Den of Deppression” reference in his press conference. Might have to find a new nickname Joe. Den of Defense after today.

  27. nick Says:

    thank god

  28. BucSince1988 Says:

How bout them Buccaneers!!!! I have faith we will win next week! Get rested and practice hard!!! Go Kansas City iHate the Falcons.. Jamies- IT’S A GREAT DAY TO PLAY IN TAMPA BAY!!!!!! FIRE THEM CANNONS.

  29. JayBucBoi Says:

What’s up with the report of G. McCoy in a boot Joe?

  30. Lunchbox Says:

Usually crying in the shower is not a good thing lol. Whatever works for our guys. Beating the Chiefs was great, but beating the Seahawks and their arrogant fanbase? Priceless. Oh I know they’ll say they had injuries, so do most teams this time of year. I haven’t felt this good about our Bucs in many years. I’ll go to work with a smile on my face tomorrow. Keep it going Bucs!

  31. JackJack Says:

Man – I am having a good month.

    First – DJT > Hillary.
Then – a month of perfect weather here in The Big Guava.
Now – we have a team worth pulling for and apparently led by grown-ups.

    So. Much. Winning.

  32. Joe McGeehan Says:

tmaxcon- Madam, are you aware that there are drugs that will control your PMS? Am I the only one who has become so completely bored with your one relentless drumbeat? Why do you think that GMC has received the payday that he has gotten from the Bucs? Why do you ignore the comments about other teams gameplaneing for this MAN? Did he hit on your lady? It just makes no sense to me and has reached the point of water torture…drip, drip, drip.

  33. Buccfan37 Says:

Martin had a good game minus the fumble. He was running tough throughout the game. The Bucs need Doug to finish this season on a higher level.

  34. TampaBay AllDay Says:

Koett it, koett it (it’s rap a song if you guys don’t know
    )

  35. Grt1 Says:

Didn’t Seattle beat the Patriots last week in new England? And we just blasted Seattle …We are a different team fellas .Fire the cannons ! ! ! ! !
