“Healthy And Hot”

No, Bill Polian was not talking about Rachel Watson.

Hall of Fame general manager Bill Polian seems to think the stars are aligned for the Bucs.

But he stopped just short of calling the Bucs a playoff team. If you read between the lines of what Polian said co-hosting “Late Hits” with Alex Marvez on SiriusXM NFL Radio, the Bucs may have dug themselves too big of a hole.

But, Polian said, the Bucs are no longer a team the NFL should trifle with.

“They are for real as in terms of being a factor in the NFC South race,” Polian said. “They are certainly a factor. When you lose a difference-maker [Doug Martin] you are not the same team. His return has given them a new lease on life. He has made the offensive line better, the pass protection better.

“Defensively, after 10 games, Mike Smith’s system is becoming second nature for the defense. Smith knows what he has and what the defense wants. The building blocks are there for a successful ballclub.

“Two things you want to be entering December: healthy and hot. They are both. So they are a factor.”

Joe wholeheartedly agrees with Polian on Martin’s pass protection. Joe cannot remember the specific play in the Chiefs win, but the Bucs had the ball at midfield and the Chiefs brought a blitzer and their right defense end also beat a block. Martin took out both defenders with one block. It was freaking beautiful and, of course, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, completed his pass.

Never overlook the importance of pass protection from a running back. While Martin hasn’t regained his Pro Bowl rushing form since returning from a hamstring injury, the guy is a mother when it comes to blocking for Jameis.

Not only does it affect the consistency of the running game. But when these running backs come off the street it limits your audible calls as well, because they do not know the calls where to line-up and the full blitz pick-up responsibilities of the full offense!!!!!

    Yes, she is!!

Quizz is an awesome blocker as well……Sims, not so much…but Sims is arguably the teams best homerun threat outside of antoine smith (injured). josh huff (practice squad). Sims is electric in the open field…need to show him some carries inside the tackles still….so we can spread him out wide ala Bell

In addition, the whole team is fairly healthy. Only McCoy and Conde are questionable. We are in good shape for a run. But playoffs? That would also take some serious help.

And she looks quite healthy too. Cmon bucs take it to the west coast n smash rivers. I believe last time they played sd here they had a pick 6. Cmon vernon take your first to the house! Go bucs

So that’s Rachel Watson. Wow, I see why you pine for her affection. Stunning. As far as needing serious help to make the playoffs, I’m not sure. If we stay the course, play healthy and smart, we’re in. I can see Atlanta losing at least 2 more times, so either divisional or wild card in very doable. On to San Diego.

I remember at the beginning of the season I voted unsure for the Koetter poll. One of the reasons was he tried something new by having early practices, and other strategies to conserve the bodies of the players. I didn’t know how that would turn out. Whether or not it had a positive impact is up for debate, but after 11 games, we are as healthy as an NFL team can be and we know for a fact it had no negative effects on these guys’ bodies.

I fully agree. One thing I have been thinking about for sometime is the fact that we practice outside and do not have an indoor practice facility. I sincerely believe that doing so will take a toll on the longevity and conditioning for a player. I may not be right about this but I believe there is a correlation between muscle fatigue and practicing for months on end in the blistering heat and humidity.

I could be wrong but I’m under the impression that a facility is being built and when it is complete, it should help players sustain an entire season more effectively. So they can stay healthy…. and not so hot….hehe

    Polian is spot on.

The Rams and Raiders games probably sunk our playoff hopes, but ya never know. We will need a little outside help, plus we gotta handle the Chargers and the Saints. The future is looking bright though. Go Bucs!

I’m going to go ahead and say this first than anybody. If the Cowgirls are going to loose a game, pretty soon…….it’s going to be against our beloved Buccaneers . Remember that!

  21. Frank Pillow Says:

Rachel Watson for Secretary of Defense!

  22. cmurda Says:

If there is one person that Joe sometimes quotes that I can respect, it is Polian. He is spot on here. National “analysts” will be hesitant to pick us to go to the playoffs after we have repeatedly failed when they thought we would make noise. I’m fine with that. Let this team feel disrespected and play hungrier.

P.S. I’ll let it slide this time Joe but if you want to use a picture of my girl on the side, you need to ask permission from now on πŸ™‚

  23. cmurda Says:

    @Luv

Please also add Baranese to the list. She has a cool name and she’s exotic. All the ones you mentioned are definitely on the list.

  24. Jerid421 Says:

RACHEL WATSON is light-years hotter than ANY cheerleader in Bucs history. They need to take that weird looking statue of Chucky out of One Buc and replace it with a bronzed bust of her bust. See what I did there. ; )
