Grimes Is Special, Too

Ballhawk.

Baller.

A lot of talk is about Richard Sherman matching up against Mike Evans for this Sunday’s game. But Bucs coach Dirk Koetter believes the Bucs have a Sherman-type of corner as well.

That would be Brent Grimes. He was hurt early in the win over the Chiefs but returned to the practice field with limited participation. We will know later this afternoon if Grimes will be eligible to play Sunday.

Koetter talked up his prized corner after practice.

“Brent is just a guy who you can put 1-on-1 and know he is going to cover his guy,” Koetter said. “He was only in the game six plays and he had a pass break up and [when a receiver he covered did make a catch] punched the ball out. He has really good ball skills. Like any corner, he is going to get beat once in a while but he is going to make plays.”

Yeah, Alterraun Verner played well overall in place of Grimes, but facing the Jeremy Maclin-less Chiefs is not exactly facing Doug Baldwin. Verner’s play was encouraging but unconvincing for Joe.

The Bucs need to be as close to full strength as they can be for this contest with the Kings of the NFC West. Having their best corner would go a long way to accomplishing that.

Thanks, Hey Jude.

Hey Joe didn’t the Viking’s losing yesterday help Tampa out in the wildcard chase?

Well, the difference is that Sherman is known for HIS mouth and Grimes is known for HIS WIFE’s mouth. But Grimes has played a great year in my opinion.

@Jerrt G, Yes it can be said that Min losing helped us out. But between them, the Redskins, and the G men, id argue that the better path to the playoffs is to win the division and hope for an Atlanta collapse. Too many teams fighting for wildcard.

We’ve got have our sights on Atlanta not the wild card. Anything it offense does against Seattle we better do against all of these subpar defenses

  7. Rrsrq Says:

A lot would have to happen for a wildcard, like the Bucs beating the Raiders or Rams, since that didn’t happen, best route is win the division, which may mean winning 5/6 and minimum of 4/6 with Atlanta folding

Shame Mike Smith blew it with Johnathan Banks now that Hey Jude’s out w/dope problems. Someone will be the spy on Wilson. Hope it’s LVD. Grimes’s old lady is a hoot. 🙂 Hope Bucs play their best ball for all of us fans this week. Go Mighty Bucs!!!!!!
