“I Feel Like It’s Very Close”

October 19th, 2016

DougMartin20161Is great news for the Bucs’ running game imminent?

America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, hinted at that this afternoon.

At the podium at One Buc Palace, Jameis was asked about Doug Martin, who has yet to practice since injuring his hamstring in Week 2.

First, Jameis said “we’re patiently waiting” for Martin’s return.

Then he added the line that will have Bucs fans salivating for an early lunch. “I feel like it’s very close,” Jameis said of Martin’s comeback.

The Bucs hit the practice field shortly after 1 p.m. An absence by Martin might not mean much. The Bucs practice Thursday and Friday in Tampa before taking a Friday evening flight to San Francisco.

He will not be ready for the 49ers. Going to take one more week. And rightfully so, why rush him back. This may be the only game where the bucs could manage without him. I still like the niners 24-20 over the Bucs.

  2. Patrick in VA Says:

Shades of ASJ being very close all of last season?

  3. KingBuc17 Says:

Douggernaught, please don’t rush back before your ready. Quizz & Barber can get us through the SF game.

    We NEED WR2. Any Ideas???

  4. tmaxcon Says:

that’s all rosey it’s pretty close and all but will it hold up for the rest of the season and we all know the answer to that is NO it will not but cheer on….

  5. BucFan20 Says:

He could say he feels a win at the Den Of Depression is very close and I would take that with a grain of salt.

  6. 813bucboi Says:

I say rest him and pound Rodgers….GO BUCS!!!

  7. Kobe Faker Says:

“I wanted to be drafted by the tampa bay Bucs and play in front of poster Kobe Faker”

    Sterling Shepard

#39 th pick No where Spence
    #40th pick Sterling Shepard

“I cant get on the football field because im a liability…but they call me a specialist”

    No where Spence

  8. Guzzie Says:

Glad slam draft 2015 single in 2016

  9. canadian bucsfan Says:

    @ kobe faker
Ahahaha are you really calling out a rookie 5 games into the season.

  10. Matthew Says:

I don’t want to rain the Doug Martin return parade BUT I may have just scooped Joe as I got a text from a close friend (who played CFB/NFL) of mine about 45 mins ago: “A little non-Matt Bucs insider info here; my wife was present at the PRP injection of muscle hamsters orthopedic treatment yesterday. Hammy not liking so good or maybe a miracle on the horizon.”

    Hope it’s not the case.

  11. BigMacAttack Says:

Jaquizz played great and should do well this week. Stay the course, let Martin get fully healed. GMC though needs to get it in gear.

  12. Kobe Faker Says:

thats my tagline before the draft

Great kid. Going to be a HOF player and a better person inside

He is the 3rd option right now, but he is going to breakout very soon

  13. shouldhavedraftedefiert Says:

Rogers will do well against the niners. They need to play Carolina game 2.0 in SF and they’ll win.

  14. Mike Johnson Says:

Let Martin rest against SF. Play Rodgers. He deserves another start. If our Defense gets a half-A.. pass rush, we win.

  15. Lord Corn Says:

I liked him too in the draft but HOF? He’s not meant to be a #1 and isn’t in the same league as ODB in terms of explosiveness. Just a good route runner with dependable hands and great #2 or slot player

  16. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I agree, especially if Martin does not practice.

But if he does practice, make him active for the game but only play him if absolutely necessary. You never know. Rodgers could get injured.

  17. Kobe Faker Says:

He is a #1 wr but wont be at new york

ODB has alittle more juice but Shepard has better hands and better route runner

less splash but Shep will be more dependable

Out of the 3 wrs, shepard has the build to be in the slot to take the punishment. and they want all 3 on the field at the same time so he is in the inside

    just wait

  18. Buccfan37 Says:

Rodgers and a healthy Martin will be ideal for the run game. Don’t know the extent of the injury to Martin or how long such an injury takes to fully heal. I just hope tmaxcon’s take that Doug will not be successful is wrong. That would make my day and I’m sure make tmaxcon’s day also.

it would make me happy. I need to be happy… Hammy’s linger and Martin does not recoup fast traditional. hope i am wrong… The election is a joke, my team is run by clowns, rock music is declining, you can’t make dirty jokes about hot chics anymore more even though I have heard some hot chics tell some pretty raunchy jokes. society is no fun. I just want my team to win that will make me happy

  20. ElioT Says:

Martin isn’t going to make the trip to San Fran. They can’t afford to rush him back so Quizz, Smith and the O-line have to get it done. Really could use McCoy back if for only a warm body’s sake.

This team should be able to beat the 9’ers without Doug and if they can’t, we have far worse problems than the RB position.

Guys need to step up, do their job, kick the p*ss out of Chip Kelly’s fat ass and that afro-headed clown; get back to Tampa and get ready for two very tough games against OAK and ATL.

    Let’s go!

    Go Sucs!

  21. Bucsfanman Says:

@tmax- Don’t despair! Rock music was on life support 10 years ago and dirty jokes are alive and well, just know your audience.
A ‘W’ would be nice. Go Bucs!!!

  22. Stpetebucsfan Says:

The stats on how many different runners are doing well this year is pretty amazing. 8 different runners are averaging more than 100 yards per game through the first six games of this season.

This is why running backs rarely go that high in the draft anymore with the exception of generational talents like Zeke Elliott or AP.

I love Doug…think he’s an exceptional runner…but he’s not a “generational” talent. Jaquizz Smith was excellent in Carolina and that was against a stout front seven. No reason to think he can’t keep it up. I suppose there could be durability questions since this is his first opportunity to be the man.

But when it comes to injuries, durability and all of that I defer to Tmax.

  23. Stpetebucsfan Says:

Oops…Rodgers not Smith…too many Smiths on this team already. LOL

  24. GhostofSchiano Says:

Kobe faker is a 15 year old high school student. He mows my lawn every Saturday wearing either his Freeman or his Piscatelli jersey. He has a horrible acne condition hence his constant presence on this site….combating lonliness. Other than that a pretty good kid, he also has a helleva stamp collection.

  25. BucTrooper Says:

I’m sure Doug’s looking forward to coming back for 4 more games before he’s injured again.

  26. Kobe Faker Says:

    I agree with you

Quizz is plenty good enough. Quizz is also better receiver than doug. Hopefully alot of screens also. Quizz cutbacks create easy 5 yard chucks at will

Dont forget. Quizz is from westcoast. Im sure he wants to have a extra nice game for the home folks

So Kobe it is ok to wait on your boy, but every pick Licht made is a bum because they aren’t all pros after 5 games. Got ya that makes complete sense.

  28. Kobe Faker Says:

    Shepards numbers are not bad.

Its just that he he has to share with 2 others presently

Cruz wont last with his knees. It will than be shep and obj and their off will takeoff

He is a antonio brown clone

  29. Doctor Stroud Says:

America’s (2nd Most Hated) Game-Manager Jameis Winston is too close to the situation. You simply cannot comment on an injury by being in the same room with said injured player. I, on the other hand, am very far away from One Buc Place and love to make diagnoses from my air conditioned office.
