ASJ Cut

September 23rd, 2016

asjbookingIt appears the days of tweety Austin Seferian-Jenkins are over with the Bucs.

Moments after the high-drama, high-maintenance tight end Twittered “Thanks TB. Next Chapter,” Rick Stroud of Tampa Bay Times twittered ASJ is done with the Bucs.

Joe has been able to independently confirm that ASJ has been cut. Joe will have more later.

What a waste ASJ was. The guy won back trust from Dirk Koetter, who actually called his number on the first third-down play of this season. Then ASJ flushed that all away.

Let’s see who picks him up?

  2. Patrick in VA Says:

Like Joe wrote earlier, he’s likely going to get more chances. I’m fine with that. I don’t need a bunch of choir boys on the team, but I’d prefer that the head cases we have on the team at least be driven to win and productive. This guy was neither of those things.

  3. Tmluu22 Says:

    What a moron.

  4. Miko Says:

Good riddance. Go star with the Patriots, I don’t care. A**hole!

  5. dusthty rhothdes Says:

Sets a helluva precedent for bucs however he must have been an ahole, he did noshow for a kids n cancer event, so character is not high with him, all I know is bucs won 9 games in 3 years with him so, good riddance, seems like a jackass who didnt respect playing in NFL to call uber or use players card ride

  6. LifeOfABucFan Says:

He will be picked up by another team and have a very successful career..My guess is Raiders..

  7. Back up kicker Says:

    saints

  8. Bucsalltheway Says:

Bad move!!! We’ll pay for this one.

  9. Rojas Says:

    Saints or Panthers..

  10. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    See U in Seattle

  11. Joe Says:

Sets a helluva precedent for bucs however he must have been an ahole

If you only knew. Some things Joe cannot discuss. Just a little surprised he lasted this long.

  12. Tom Edrington Says:

Let’s see, who was the guy on here last week that declared he would be the Bucs greatest tight end ever???

What a joke……this guy came did nothing then did nothing, made one big catch in two years and now they finally found that they can’t trust him…..selfish guy who betrayed his teammates.

  13. D-Rome Says:

Well, this is officially a Licht miss. I don’t agree with cutting him but I’m guessing there has been other issues within One Buc that made this decision easy for the Buccaneers to make.

He’ll likely get picked up by another team and find success. It’s how these things usually go.

  14. safeflt1 Says:

and then the dude tweets…Thanks TB Next Chapter like it was no big deal Please go grow up young man!

  15. Buccfan37 Says:

The radio just announced ASJ was released. What a waste of a 2nd round pick. I don’t believe he will be any better elsewhere.

  16. Tampa Tony Says:

He will be destined to be a successful ex Buc like Talib, Blount, Bennett and others. This franchise has the Gruden curse on it

  17. Bucsfan951 Says:

Joe: you should put up a poll on where he’ll land next. My guess is the pats.

  18. Patrick in VA Says:

@37 – I doubt that he will either. A lot of people just default to thinking that it’s a systemic thing and people don’t perform here because we don’t know how to use players. This dude was just a bad apple all on his own. That’s not going to change anywhere else he goes. But, if he does find success somewhere else, I’ll still be happy that we cut ties.

  19. The Buc Realist Says:

Bucs Nfl Draft 2017 WR, TE, Safety!!!!

  20. LUVMYBUCS Says:

Time to call Cleveland – and make a trade for TE Gary Barnidge

    Licht – Handle that

  21. Tampabaybucfan Says:

He must have done something else along the way like showing up intoxicated to practice, games or meetings because this would be a bad precedent without additional bad behavior.
There will be other Bucs charged with DUI’s in the future who won’t be cut, I’m sure.

  22. D-Rome Says:

Looking at his mugshot I’m left wondering why his clothes look so shabby.

  23. LUVMYBUCS Says:

Stop setting on your thumbs – make a trade for a TE.
    This group won’t cut it.

  24. Patrick in VA Says:

I honestly don’t think that this should alter our draft needs at all or signal a need for a trade. Dude was a 3rd string TE who made one decent catch this year. We’ll be fine without him. Brate is a solid TE and Stocker pairs well with him. No need for a knee jerk reaction.

  25. Joe Says:

I don’t agree with cutting him but I’m guessing there has been other issues within One Buc that made this decision easy for the Buccaneers to make.

    If you only knew.

  26. Joe Says:

Looking at his mugshot I’m left wondering why his clothes look so shabby.

Apparently has a moth issue at home.

That smirk on his mug shot may have been the ticket out of here.

What else can he say?? Do you want an essay?..I am sure he will say more but this all happened within hours! Jesus flucken Christ..this is his life, his career, give him time to adjust to life without football for now.

And honestly, he doesn’t owe us anything at all..Nothing, not a damn thing. He just owes his teammates, family and the Bucs organisation..

  28. destinjohnny Says:

we passed on so many guys to draft this a hole

  29. The Buc Realist Says:

    ACCOUNTABILITY!!!!!!

    Simple as that!!!!!!!!

  30. SCBucsFan Says:

Licht’s drafts aren’t looking so good now, huh?

  31. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    Patrick in VA

In this offensive – if you don’t have at least ONE tightend that can block & catch.
You won’t be able to disquise sh!t.
Teams will double high Jameis – and its a wrap.

Plus giving Up a conditional 4th round pick shouldn’t hurt our draft stragety.

  32. JMN Says:

He will get scooped up quickly by another team willing to take a chance on him and his possible upside. It’s a shame. Talented guy, just couldn’t get his s*&^ together.

  33. Miko Says:

nobody is bigger than the team…he didn’t get that, obviously

  34. tmaxcon Says:

ASJ proved he is a me first Piece of human waste. he let his team and teammates down over a few cocktails. dumb arse… he does not deserve a second chance but will no doubt receive one. I’ll gladly wager the mental midget will fail again. FLUSH and Repeat!

  35. University of Seffner Says:

ASJ may not have a great life. Hate to say that, but this is what usually happens with these dudes. Hopefully he’ll get himself straight and improve himself. His NFL Career however may have come to an end.

  36. Buccfan37 Says:

Joe… now that he is gone fill us Buc fans in on the if you only knew stuff. I knew he never wanted to play for the Bucs. He thought it was below him. His goal is to absorb a bigger spotlight. Beware all interested parties.

  37. Kobe Faker Says:

    “Draft strategy?” Jason gump

  38. BoJim Says:

His lawyer would’ve got them to postpone anything till season end but ASJ would’ve had that on his mind all season and play like crap so they did the right thing.

  39. phreakybucfan Says:

They didn’t cut him for the D.U.I. They cut him for stealing a shirt off a homeless dude.

  40. RonRicoFSU Says:

Damn, he was pretty good on Madden 17 . lol

  41. Ed Says:

This team cut black player’s but let front office and white player’s slide. The word is out among N.FL. Player’s about this G.M. and raciest view point on players. This is the reason black football player’s do not sign with this team. If they do sign they are at the end of their careers. Player’s make mistakes, other player’s are looking at how you treat your black player. Win some games and then, you would be looked at different and you can afford to cut players. Tell me one reason the safety on this team is still starting.

  42. Dave Pear Says:

I’m guessing that he and Michael Sam had a lot in common.

  43. gotbbucs Says:

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out, dip sh!t.

  44. dcbucsfan Says:

Anotha playmaker released by us 2 win with anotha team why we continue to lose..smh…Blount, talib, revis, Barron, Michael bennett , ect…whatever happened to player delevopment …obviously this team has no real connect with there players. i prey 4 jameis, lords knows we lack playmakers and lets not talk about speed which we havent had since the days of Galloway..smfh. This is Ridiculous and then we keep wearing these all white uniforms. About 2 the roll the fattest blunt ever 2 c if i can get out this den of depression bc i can see now that this going to b anotha season up in Smoke

  45. gotbbucs Says:

    @ Ed

I’m guessing the Bucs have close to the least amount of white players on the team in the entire NFL.
I didn’t see the report of anybody else regardless of race getting kicked out of practice and getting DUI’s at 4am. This has nothing to do with race, rather one idiot that doesn’t want to be a big boy yet.

  46. 911bucs Says:

Joe I thought you commented he wasn’t a distraction, if he wasn’t then why did he get cut?

  47. Dooshlarue Says:

I feel like Nostradamus………or like NOS -BOS, no wait, that’s wrong cause I’m actually right!
Called his demise after most were willing to give him way too many chances.

    Bye bye loser.
I don’t care if you do land somewhere else and do well…… you were a cancer here.

  48. Dee Says:

Why would any team want him he’s trash.

  49. Lunchbox Says:

We should trade Glennon to Cleveland for Gary Barnidge and maybe conditional draft pick.

  50. Lightning Says:

    Asj winds up with gronk

  51. James Walker Says:

Now he gets his ring in New England.

  52. Greg Schiano Says:

@Ed. Wow! If a white man said that Obismal would have him locked up on a hate crime. That is the definition of racism. Players come and go based on talent, work ethic, and character. No coach wanting to keep his 5 mil a year drops a player based on skin color.

Kind of like the idiot saying today “We need a white player to disrespect the flag!”

I agree anyone has the right to protest what you feel strongly about, but disrespecting the volunteers from 1975 until now who fight and die for that idiot to disrespect them is wrong. Protest….but either pick up a rifle and go do your 4 years or respect those who do!

  53. DB55 Says:

No no no, that’s just stupid. You guys sound like hypocrites as if you’ve never driven home drunk. Come’on you drink a 12 pack on game day. I can see benching him till after the bye week but cutting him is dumb. We are going to need him later in the season

  54. Tampa Bay Tailgater Says:

I’m not sure why everyone is saying that he will be great somewhere else like it’s a bad thing. I hope we see him during a playoff run when and Kwon and Lavante get revenge for leaving his team out to dry like this. Wait for it….

    The Bucs are better off!

  55. Doctor Stroud Says:

ASJ wasn’t committed to the team or to winning, and I hope that he gets the help that he needs. Now, let’s move on. Who will fill his roster spot? A free agent TE? A promotion from the practice squad? So many questions…

  56. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    Lunchbox

“We should trade Glennon to Cleveland for Gary Barnidge and maybe conditional draft pick.

    Sign me Up

  57. Warren Says:

Hey Joe now that he’s not part of the team anymore why not let us in on some of those issues you’re aware of that you’ve had to keep under wraps? Should make for interesting reading!

  58. Greg Schiano Says:

James Walker is correct…..AFS will end up at the Patriots or Cardinals winning the Super Bowl.

Glennon is a very competent backup. Bucs are one (1) hard hit away from needing him. Need to keep the backup.

Clarification: U.S. has a volunteer military from 1975 until present. Prior, you would be drafted whether you wanted to or not.

Want a real hero…read the story of Rocky Bleier started 3 games, drafted to fight in Vietnam, had part of his leg shot off, told he would never return to football, and did it anyway.

Just find a way to protest without disrespecting these great people.

  59. LifeOfABucFan Says:

DS..Alan Cross is on the 53 man roster now.

  62. Mo_Downs Says:

    Oh, Brother..

The Bucs roster that looked so promising, albeit thin, after TC is now missing another key piece of their offense.

    JUST, WOW…!!!

I am in LA visiting friends and relatives. I was so happy to discover the Bucs/Rams game would be broadcast while I’m here. After being blown out last week, I thought the game would be entertaining. Now, this may be a discouraging look at potential vs performance.

Man, no Doug Martin, porous OL, D on a steep learning curve and Koetter driven to distraction by ASJ.

  63. 813bucboi Says:

idk bout this one….after watching blount and talib go and have success I wish dirk would’ve just had him inactive for a week or 2….obviously he was a bigger headache than we knew….good luck to you bro…hope you grow up….GO BUCS!!!!

  64. LargoBuc Says:

Good ridance! I really don’t care if ASJ goes to another team and succeeds. He did not want to be a part of this team. We don’t need that and us Buc fans don’t deserve that spit! No fan of any team desrrves that. It’s obvious he had zero respect for the team, the market or us fans.

  65. Buccanole Says:

Is the homeless man he stole that sweater from planning to press charges?

  66. "The kevin" Says:

This season is over. Just sit back and see how bad it gets and focus on the draft.

    Another year another losing season.

    Just pathetic.

  67. Stpetebucsfan Says:

Joe can’t say. I suspect ASJ has had an alcohol problem for awhile. I wouldn’t be surprised if Koetter ran him from practice because of alcohol on his breath.

They probably had a come to jeebus moment with him and gave him one final shot. He blew it and so bye bye.

  68. D-Rome Says:

Hey Joe now that he’s not part of the team anymore why not let us in on some of those issues you’re aware of that you’ve had to keep under wraps? Should make for interesting reading!

I would be stunned if Joe or anyone else in the local media did that. Some stories may leak out from sources but that’ll be it. As I’ve said before, I have to believe some media people locally know what really precipitated Josh Freeman’s downfall and we’re three years removed from that.

  73. GenocideD Says:

I’ll be we see him playing for the Redskins. :/

  74. Phree Says:

ASJ is a waste. Good freakin’ riddance. He’s a cancer here.

Let him find eternal bliss and multiple Super Bowl rings with Bill Belicheat or go to Arena Football. Neither one makes any difference to me.

    You can’t fix stupid.

  75. R. Ritter Says:

Reading these posts on here makes my stomach turn! Every damn one of you blasting him for his mistake leads me to believe you must live the ultimate life! He who is without sin, cast the first stone. The guy is young, he’s human, he has a little money and he lost control of his common sense. Which one of you hypocrites can say you’ve lived a perfect life? Waiting! Exactly, so STFU and stop know come ng a man while he was down. Give the guy a hand to help lift him up when he’s down. The reason Pro athletes treat fans like crap after a few years, because they see how fake they are!

  76. Richard Says:

Ironic that a guy who got a penalty for posing like captain Morgan gets busted cut for dui.

  77. LakeLandBuc Says:

  79. FLBoyInDallas Says:

What was he doing drunk at 4am when they had practice coming up at 8am, anyway? What a damn loser. Slapping the organization in the face, slapping his teammates in the face and basically biting the hand that feeds him. This guy learned nothing, NOTHING, and was never going to learn how to be a true professional. What a waste of space.

  80. dusthty rhothdes Says:

Big Hog Haynes, the dumbest move? booker reece, bo jackson, passing on arod, signing revis, hiring raheem, drafting freeman, letting steve young go, but this is the dumbest move? haha CMON MAN
