Over The Hump?

Soaring

Has Adam Humphries stunned the NFL and arrived as a big-league receiver?

It sure looks that way through three games.

Affectionately known as “Rudy” at JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters, Humphries has 18 catches through three games, and he busted out his first career 100-game yesterday against the Rams. That came on the heels of his previous career high set in Arizona the week before.

In total, Humphries has 201 yards receiving this season. He’s on pace for about 96 catches and 1,000 yards. Plus, he’s been a sure-handed and solid punt returner.

Not bad for a tryout player out of Clemson last year, a guy people at One Buc Palace thought was a trainer when he arrived, a guy the Bucs cut last September but re-signed.

For his career, Humphries has caught a whopping 45 of the 66 balls thrown his way. That’s such a strong stat that it almost makes Joe wonder if America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, mentally diales in more while throwing to a smaller target.

Regardless, Joe is happy for Humphries. He’s earned every inch of his success. With a few more good games, he’ll even get the attention he craves.

What bad can be said about Hump?

    This kid is a baller.

    I wish I was a little but taller…

  2. SOEbuc Says:

He has such great hands. He is so speedy and runs great routes. Love how he broke that tackle on that screen and zipped up field. The only problem is his height on running strides and deep routes but that could also be on Jameis by not putting it in the right spot. GO HUMP!!! GO BUCS!!!

  3. Pa Privateer Says:

Imagine if we could get this production out of another receiver from the practice squad? All of the fans would breath a little easier.

Congrats to you Humphries! As a Bucs fan, thank you for your dedication and hard work.

  4. passthebuc Says:

Trade VJax. pick up a safety

  5. The Buc Realist Says:

If we had a true #2 WR and a true threat at TE that could also block!!! the offense will really be humming!!!!! AH11 would be a real threat as the #4 option!!!!!

  6. Kobe Faker Says:

    Hey joe

What did you think about dirks press conf?

Still confused with the culture thingy

Is he impling vjax lack of motivation

Is vjax and his agent seeking negotiation for a contract with licht?

  7. LifeOfABucFan Says:

The speed on Rudy!! That speed and the ability to run all over the field and pick of yards!!

Can someone explain what is the culture that they talk about? Is it an American thing?..Is it something that has been around for years? Or did it become a term pretty recently?

  8. Rojas Says:

    Why not sign FB recee

  9. Doctor Stroud Says:

I am happy for America’s (2nd Most Hated) Quarterback and for WRs, such as “Rudy”, for reaching career highs in this past game. Still, I’m sure that they would have traded these individual milestones for a team win.

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

For all those who fault Jason Licht for ASJ…..we have UDFA Cameron Brate and UDFA Adam Humphries.

And our best defensive player is Brian Anger….what a pickup we have there.

Next year we will have $10 mil freed up from Vjax and if we don’t draft a #1 or 2 receiver, we can certainly buy one.

As far as I’m concerned, we can go ahead and dump Alterraun Verner play Banks and save a few bucks for a Safety

Call me an optimist but I think this team is only a few pieces away from good.

  11. HICKERBILLY Says:

Soo happy for Hump. And I agree we should trade VJAX. San Diego needs a Wr and Jackson was a great wr there. Trade him for ANY pick you can get.

nice game but it’s only one game so as the great Public Enemy and Flavor Flav always say “don’t believe the hype”

  14. Cover Deuce Says:

Ain’t the biggest or fastest, but man does he continue to impress me. He just keeps improving, making the most of his opportunities. Receiver and TE will definitely still be needs this offseason, but I feel good knowing we’ve got a reliable short-intermediate range target that can continue to mature with Jameis.

  15. rrsrq Says:

Hump had the luxury of playing with Sammy Watkins and DeAndre Hopkins, so you know he can compete and used to attention going to the other big name receivers

  16. Destinjohnny Says:

    The brother can play

  17. Mike Johnson Says:

That’s been your line all year BucRealist. IF. IF and coulda/Woulda/Shoulda.
Go try out for a local HS cheerleading squad sir! Cause Football ain’t your strong suite!

  18. MadMax Says:

Told ya! Happy for the guy! Keep it up Hump!

  19. Coopsxx Says:

I think he has been the best, most consistent player on the team so far.

It should also be noted how many passes he is plucking which are thrown high (well high for a 5-10 guy) – and also the fact he is making lots of yak, something vjax or Evans simply can’t do.

  20. Dooshlarue Says:

    Love the guy. He’s clutch.
I wish we had more Rudys!
I’m on board with trading VJax and dumping Verner too.

  21. Not there yet Says:

That’s what’s wrong with this team. Winston came out ballin first game of the season and suddenly was gonna be mvp. This guy has one good game no great game and suddenly he’s arrived? No no lol good point let’s go ahead and give him a big contract because all it takes is one good game to become a star in Tampa geez really… Wasn’t he facing a guy with a busted toe? Stop hyping players up so much

  22. Warren Says:

Visible speed…the guy is a burner and doesn’t (yet) get the credit he deserves for being as quick as he is. Hope Koetter starts putting him on the end of some long balls soon

  23. Buc15 Says:

I told you all to watch out for Hump last year. Somebody give Licht my # so I can do some scouting damm it

  24. BigPoppaBuc Says:

I love how tough he is… He takes some blows, and just seems to bounce off and keep truckin. He’s fearless, scrappy and if JW can get his accuracy on point, Hump will start catching more balls down field. Go get’em Hump!

  25. orlbucfan Says:

I have been (puffs out small chest) a Hump fan since the UDFA’s first preseason game. KUDOS to DK and Licht! Tell Mike Smith to play Johnathan Banks. You didn’t draft him, but you didn’t cut him either. He just sits on the sidelines getting mildewed. What’s there to lose? How much do they pay pro scouts anyway? Go Tampa Bay!!

  26. Bradinator Says:

He’s nice “in space” , seems to pick up the extra yards if he gets a little room to maneuver. Love the screens to him. Throw it near him and it’s a catch. If I was Jameis I’d be looking for him on 3rd and 7 every time. Go Hump!!

  27. America's Commenter Says:

The kid can play. He wears #11 as well as any of the other undersized slot receivers in the league. The Bucs need to retire VJAX, promote Evans to #1 WR, and find a speedster to stretch the defense on the other side.
