Can’t Bank On History

September 10th, 2016
Leave the past in the past.

Leave the past in the past.

One reason a lot of Bucs fans are confident the wings of the Dixie Chicks will be clipped Sunday is that the Bucs went into the Dixie Chicks’ house with a rookie quarterback and won in overtime last year.

And even the anti-Gerald McCoy rabble, for a brief moment, applauded him as he forced Matty Ice into an errant throw on first down — GMC was wrapping him up — which sealed the win.

But that’s last year. Turn the page, Bucs coach Dirk Koetter said Friday. That win has no bearing on tomorrow’s game.

“It’s a new team every year,” Koetter said. “We’ve got a bunch of new guys, we added a lot of guys on defense, we’re got new coaches. You’ll have to ask the guys individually. But again, we’ve got to look at just, this is this week.”

Koetter is right. You can learn from the past but you can’t bank on the past being the present. New year, new players, new coaches on both sides of the ball.

Go out there and win. Make new history. Don’t bear hug the old history expecting the same result.

Its so true. Just because the Bucs swept the Falcons last year will not make tomorrow’s game easier!!!

Just like 6 wins from last year’s historically soft schedule does not make that the base line of “guaranteed wins” for this year!!!

The football is not round, injuries play a huge role, and in the NFL personnel turns over at a very high rate because of all the injuries and short careers.

Of course you can’t count on the past and every season is a new one.

IF we get some luck with injuries and bounces of the ball we’re going to have a good team. By the end of the year we “might” have a very good team.

BTW…we’re already off to a “lucky” start. Our main rival snatched defeat from victory when Gano missed that easy FG. As to the luck? Gano makes the first one and Kubiak calls the time out just in time. Then Gano misses a kick he makes 4 out of five times. Having the major favorite have a demoralizing loss in the opener is just excellent for us!

Just like you can’t bank on the history of Ryan being undefeated in home openers. Series history means zero everything is new this year.

    Go Bucs!!!

Strike with a quick score then strike again and take the crowd out of the game.

Im the ultimate Jameis homer , but he is still young and streaky as hell

Only 1 int and we need a good 1st quarter to get jameis in rythmn

*Its his 2nd year, Jameis has to learn he cant put us behind with turnovers and play catchup

Franchise QBs do not lose games but wins games. He has to lead and will this team. The inconsistency has to stop

The Bucs are better, it’s about time! You can’t stink forever.

  7. Pickgrin Says:

GMCs OT play that you are referring to was on 4th down Joe – not 1st down.

This team is better than last year and there is NO excuse if we lose. Jameis beat them as a rookie and should beat them again as long as he doesn’t make a lot of mistakes. We should be able to overcome an INT but he has to limit his turnovers if we expect to win.
