Jameis All In Favor Of National Attention

September 14th, 2016

Wants more — for the right reason.

It’s fitting that America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, said today that he welcomes national media attention enthusiastically and wholeheartedly.

On Monday, Jameis was busy chatting with national morning radio shows (on his day off), and Jameis certainly sounded comfortable on the air and very eager to participate.

Today, Jameis acknowledged national media coverage and awards, such has his Offensive Player of the Week nod, are nice honors. But that’s strictly a week-to-week thing, he said, and now it’s over.

Joe asked Jameis whether he likes the NFL spotlight, and Jameis explained his embrace.

JoeBucsFan.com: You mentioned “making a name for ourselves.” You did a couple of national radio interviews yesterday and it seemed like you really enjoyed it. Do you like that attention?

Jameis Winston: I just believe that when you get the opportunity to make your team look good, you take advantage of it. You know, a lot of people look down on us. But again, it’s just one game. The same people that’s praising us right now, if we lose by one point, they’re going to say how bad we suck. So we got to keep getting better and keep improving. That’s the thing about football, it’s a week-t0-week thing. You’re going to win some, you’re going to lose some. We just hope we win more than we lose.

It’s good to see Jameis is level-headed when it comes to media: Take the spotlight for what it offers your team, but realize the media will torch you if they think it fits.

Some say we, the fans and players, shouldn’t care about the teams national image; but I say it does matter. This is a game that involves a great deal of pride and competition. The lack of respect from the media and other teams around the league is the chip on this teams shoulder. They know they’re good and they know even if they go 11-5 that their will still be plenty of doubters out there. I like the attitude that Jameis and this team have. They want to prove everyone, including some Buc fans, wrong. This team is inspired and driven to start winning in bunches.

Jameis was “torched” unfairly and relentlessly by many factions of the media for an extended period of time.

I doubt any 22 year old athlete in the world understands the ruthlessness and character assassination capabilities of the media better than Jameis Winston.

BSPN in particular is just lucky he’s not the type to hold a grudge.

Of course the fans enjoy the national spotlight, more Bucs talk on TV and it’s a pride thing as someone said!

Not to mention the more the Bucs are talked about the higher chance to get the game live on AFN for us overseas/military folks!!! Tampa…Baaaaay!!!

  13. Buccfan37 Says:

Just saw the press conference and it seemed like Jameis really doesn’t care about national attention lol. If anything I think he prefers hatred as fuel for motivation but doesn’t seem to give a sh1t about being praised

  17. Buc1987 Says:

Trooper…sadly though, you know they’ll come.

    People will come Ray….

  18. Buc1987 Says:

Mike Johnson…are you calling out someones fandom on JBF?

That smells like rotten eggs on this site.

YOU don’t know how long we’ve been fans for…

Me since 1987 hence the name. So I saw my fair share of suck.

  19. Mike Johnson Says:

Mind your own Bizness Buc1987. But on the other hand? You can get some too!!! 1987? I was there in 1976 for the very 1st game. The comment was made about 2-14, we don’t want you around when we start winning? Who are any of you to tell anybody who gets on the pirate ship? We need all the help we can get in a small market.

  20. orlbucfan Says:

There are true blue, LONG SUFFERING fans who have been with the Bucs since 1976, ’77, ’78 and ’79 (that’s me) lurking around and hanging on here. We remember all the ridicule and nonsense the national sports talking (air)heads put our team and area through. Heck, there were a lot of well-known Boob Tube sports bozos with a real grudge against our Bucs winning a Super Bowl back when they did. You know, the Clown Princes of the NFL, the Yuks, etc., etc. How dare THEY win a Super Bowl?! Well, screw them and the broken down horses they rode in on. I hope I live long enough to see this team do better than the 12-4 record that put them in the SB. That said, Go Mighty Bucs!!

  21. Buc1987 Says:

Mike Johnson …I don’t care HOW long you’ve been a Bucs fan.

Does that make you a bigger Bucs fan that Trooper or anyone else here?

I say no, but of course you’d say yes. That’s just how and who you are.

  22. Buc1987 Says:

I agree with everyone else but you.

That place is going to filled up with bandwagon garbage soon.

Get your tickets and lock them in soon.

  23. NJBucsFan Says:

    Go Bucs!

  24. ElioT Says:

I believed this kid would be good on the field but I am really impressed with his maturity and edgy professionalism.

He’s right, he and the team need continue to get better, but right now I’m feeling very lucky to have him as our favorite team’s field general.

    Go Bucs!!!

  25. dusthty rhothdes Says:

Buc1987 100% right i think it was last playoff game at ol stadium against lions you could see and feel the “fans” changing then when new stadium came about the bucs became a place to be seen for the south tampa crowd, its cool more fans the louder the stadium should be, just excited for what seems like the start of another playoff run, if not this year def in years to come

  26. Mike Johnson Says:

    BUC1987… KISS MY GRITS!

  27. NCMike Says:

I still remember in the late 90’s when people started talking about our team. A lot fans come and go. Look at Seattle…… sucked for awhile then all of a sudden people and media love em. I catch a ton of lip living in NC and being a Bucs fan. Does it matter? No! At the end of the day, I’m here. So I second the notion the if you weren’t here for the losses…… Don’t pretend to be here for the winning

  28. Chris Says:

Rarely agree with Mike, but who is trooper to say. He sounds like the people I lived near in Plant City when we won the Super Bowl. I went outside, started yelling and whooping it up outside. Had some loudmouth down the road tell bandwagon.Talking Sh..t not knowing my history, born on Mcdill AFB in 69, family goes back to the 1800s in Florida, but I’m bandwagon lol.

  29. Chris Says:

NC, I went to the Marbles museum here in Raleigh on a field trip , few years ago. Dude says ha ha, Buc fan( I was wearing my Buc jacket). I asked him, who you root for . He says, Panthers, I than said, oh, well, at least we won our Super Bowl, shut him up

  30. BigHogHaynes Says:

We have a very good QB, but we still need to continue to make this team better at every opportunity!
