Jameis Core Belief: “Snap And Clear”

America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, let fans into his mind Saturday afternoon.

How enjoyable and informative it was when Jameis sat behind the SiriusXM NFL Radio microphone. Of course, Joe is sharing. What kind of Bucs-focused media outlet would ignore such an event!

Jameis explained that part of his maturation is — and was — learning how to clear his mind and focus on negatives.

“That’s what I learned real quickly: is that you can’t overthink in this league,” Jameis said.

“It’s a day-to-day thing. You know you can’t be thinking about last week’s performance when you’ve got a new team in front of you trying to beat your tail. You know, you got to snap and clear and just keep going and you keep preparing.

“And that’s what the offseason is for, so you can reflect on things. The only thing that you got to jot down are your negatives. You got to jot down those negatives and eliminate the negatives.”

Joe found it intriguing how dialed into negativity Jameis was. He’s such a positive guy, but relentless on himself and with his drive to improve.

Joe also hopes Jameis masters the “snap and clear” and shares the secret with Lavonte David.

Taking care of the football is always the first negative for him,” Jameis said, adding “pocket presence” and “overall rhythm” to his short list of things he must work on.

And then Jameis went to his beloved “chemistry” theme again, so he can anticipate throws to receivers.

I find it hard to believe Winston can think of anything when opponents are bearing down on him with intent to take him down and seperate him from the ball. Of course except getting rid of the ball.

I really love the quiet demand he’s placed on his receivers. The attitude of, “be where you’re supposed to be, I’ll take care of the rest.” Really refreshing to see that from the QB position around here.
