Injury Alert: Charles Sims

August 8th, 2016

Sims[UPDATE: 11:10 a.m.:] The Bucs left One Buc palace and headed to Tropicana Field for practice today in search of drier safer conditions.

But fake grass over cement isn’t always so friendly.

Twittering from practice this morning, WDAE-AM 620 Bucs reporter Roy Cummings notes Charles Sims did something to his right leg and his being looked at by trainers.

Joe also saw an official Buccaneers practice video that showed Austin Seferian-Jenkins coming down hard on his back after leaping for a ball in the end zone.

Stay tuned, Joe will update all the morning’s practice events this afternoon.

[UPDATE: 11:10 a.m.:] Per Woody Cummings, Sims had his right ankle taped and is test-driving his wheel back at practice, thus does not appear to be a serious injury.

  3. JAB83 Says:

Praying both are ok… ASJ seems to take some of the flukiest injuries… Not that he is soft but the FEW injuries he has had always seem to come from him landing on the ground funny… SO I HOPE THIS REPORT becomes a positive one in that he is able to bounce BACK quickly…

We need him to show this year more so than Simms IMHO. if I had to pick between the two, I believe just like last year, ASJ will be the X-FACTOR for our attack. 10 plus wins if he plays ALL 16 take that to the bank!!!!!

  4. Dislocatedbucsfan Says:

I expected asj to be banged up with injury. I really hope both are okay but I really hope Charles’s injury is minor. Definitely need him in the backfield. Jab, ASJ is soft.

  5. Nick2 Says:

ASJ the man just cant stay on the field. Its sad since he now is just 2nd string and is a very expensive 2nd string tight end.

  6. Buccfan37 Says:

Fake grass over cement, actual football practice on that surface is hard to take, to a rational mind and double for players.

  7. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Its football, fooling yourselves if you think a ding a two not bound to happen.

  8. The Buc Realist Says:

CS34 is arguably the offense’s most explosive player!!!! And he is the reasone we could run screen’s last year!!!

We want more of this for the 2016 season!!!!!

  9. Tom Edrington Says:

I thought I read somewhere where Koetter said they need to practice in the rain…..

  10. LargoBuc Says:

Why would any football team practice at the trop? That field is so dangerous. Baseball is iffy there, let alone a contact sport like football. And btw, it’s not surprising that our ENTIRE outfield was on the dl at one point.

  11. SOEbuc Says:

NOOO!! Gotta get them outta Tropicana Field that place pulsates with bad luck. I hope Charles and ASJ come back soon

  12. Kevin Schmidt Says:

They’ll be fine, this is why they need to hurry up and make sure that practice facility is completed by next offseason!!!

  13. shouldhavedraftedefiert Says:

good, let him sit the preseason… gonna need this guy!

  14. FIRETHECANNONS Says:

It’s one thing to practice in the rain, but in the Lightning just isn’t safe..

  15. SOEbuc Says:

Speaking of next years practice facility, whats the deal with big boards at RJS? Are those gonna be ready by game two of preseason? My friend goes by there often and said they didn’t look close to being ready.

  16. BigHogHaynes Says:

Don’t cry………next man up! Simple as that!

  17. unbelievable Says:

Good news that sims’ injury appears to be minor!

Not so good for ASJ, especially if this ends up being another back injury.

  18. Infabucs Says:

ASJ hurt? SHOCKER. I think Sims injured his right ankle during camp back in 2014. He needed surgery and was out 12 weeks or so. Hope this one isn’t that severe!

  19. feelthepewterpower Says:

ASJ isn’t hurt…I saw the vid too, and that was Feel’s first thought….ASJ came down hard…..but he’ll be OK.

  20. Strider ....Sec 147 Says:

Hey sims if he is hurt let him rest we got a bunch of young Rb that just aching for a chance like this to step it up.
