“Dogs” Named On Special Teams

Hey Jude Adjei-Barimah is among the "dogs."

Hey Jude Adjei-Barimah is among the “dogs.”

Preseason games — like the one at 7 p.m. in Philly! — are very much about bubble players winning jobs on special teams.

So who are the special teamers on the Bucs who will play like uncaged animals?

Joe talked about this with a special teamer himself, running back Mike James, who will play on all four phases tonight as he also hopes to cement himself the No. 3 running back gig.

James named names on the fourth-down units.

“Man, we got some dogs on the special teams, Russell Shepard, Jude Adjei-Barimah, Jeremiah George, Adarius Glanton,” James said.

Yes, James is excited about what the Bucs will produce all-around on special teams, but those names are worth noting. Linebacker Glanton isn’t well known, but Joe’s documented his effort a couple of time in training camp. He was on the roster for five games last year, and he played 10 games as a rookie for Carolina in 2014. Keep an eye on No. 53.

George, also a linebacker was on the Bucs’ roster through 2015 and made his share of special teams plays.

Joe also will look out for rookie linebacker Devante Bond to see if he shows up on special team. Backup linebackers are primarily special teamers. Those three could be on your final 53-man roster.

Defensive coordinator Mike Smith says rookie linebacker Micah Awe (No. 44)  is the talk of training camp among coaches, so there’s another body to watch. He’s a every undersized linebacker (220 pounds) undrafted out of Texas Tech.

I don’t wanna jinx Bond but he needs to make the team for personal reasons. I just hope we don’t lose out on Cassanova and Lambert because we got this good depth. Did I say good depth that’s like a breast of fresh arse. In my Bucs life span I have never utter those word out my mouth. It’s a miracle the sky is falling. Thank you football god!
