Underwear Fanatics

The Jaguars opened their mandatory minicamp, aka underwear football, to all fans this week. And the masses came in droves.

Joe absolutely had to head to Jacksonville yesterday.

Yes, Joe was working on a special project and planning for coverage of the Buccaneers’ joint practices with the Jaguars in Jacksonville this summer, but Joe had to see what the turnout would be for an open-to-the-public underwear football practice in the searing Florida heat.

Unlike the Bucs, the Jaguars opened their mandatory minicamp practice yesterday (and today) to the public.

June football. No pads. No pressure. No game anytime soon.

The sun was unblocked, and the heat index pushed 97 degrees The backless aluminum seats were unforgiving. But out came the masses on a Tuesday morning — without shade. Joe didn’t see summer camp groups or throngs of kids. These were hardcore types of all shapes and sizes.

“Oh, man. What could be better?” Jags fan Kennedy Quick told Joe. “This will hold me over till training camp. I love it. A lot of it’s boring, but it’s worth the 20 minutes of action you get.”

Joe pegged the crowd, which filled the bleachers and overflowed where it could, at about 1,700. Per Jacksonville.com, the Jaguars announced 2,377 fans.

Whatever the number, Joe hopes Bucs officials take notice. The Falcons open their minicamp to the public. So do the Saints.

There is no greater gift to serious Bucs fans than a chance — any chance — to watch their team.

Football fans are football fans, it don’t matter if it’s Training Camp, OTA’S, Preseason or Regular season. They just love football, and it’s a good thing to actually love something.

    Yup
NFL hungry fans will even attend ANYTHING NFL related
    even a Draft Party

Sounds like Jaguar fans have as much hope for a successful season as Bucs fans do. And for good reason; they’ve brought some excellent talent on-board also. Things are looking up.

    I agree with you. People are not coming to see football, they are coming to see if Jameis is in good shape, if Mike Evans is dropping the ball, they are coming to show their passion for the team, have a chance to have a pic with them, their kids with this orthis player …;

So yes the Bucs should have a bit of the underwear football camp open to public.

Joe, The Bucs have opened their final day of MiniCamp tomorrow morning to season ticket holders. You have to have a ticket though.
    We’re going….

Who gives a Rats Ass what the Falcons do? You want us to pattern the Bucs off of what could possibly be the worst run team in the league?

I thought there was a different Joe at the helm here yesterday.

I’m all for opening them to the public. Or season ticket holders at least. Not that I would get to go these days.
