Capt. Hook

Law and order.

Law and order.

Yes, after the third or fourth question about the subject yesterday, it was clear Dirk Koetter was tired of talking about running off Tweety Austin Seferian-Jenkins from underwear football practice.

But Koetter was happy to talk about running a player from a practice field, if he sees fit. Asked if he had ever tossed a player from practice before ASJ, Koetter sort of threw down the gauntlet, daring a player to challenge him or loaf at work.

“Back in about – let’s see, when was that, 1984? When I was a high school coach I kicked a bunch of guys [out],” Koetter said. “I kicked a whole team off one day.

“I’ve only been the head coach here since January.”

Joe will dig to find out who the last player was to get run from practice at One Buc Palace. Last week, Joe couldn’t find anyone remembering a player — on any team — getting rung up during underwear football.

Raheem Morris once sent Brian Price off the field at the Den of Depression and told him to hit the showers for too many penalties. And, yes, Lovie Smith pulled Akeem Spence out of a game for losing his mind last season.

    Didn’t Keyshawn Johnson get benched for a game or two by Gruden….I think he was kicked off the game day roster and was healthy….

  2. The Buc Realist Says:

    Sgt win-slow just walked off the practice field if I remember right! I don’t think he was tossed, but he just quit!!!

  3. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Tampabaybucfan

    You are correct!!! That was when Brad Johnson was freezing Key out of the offense because they hated each other.. And then Coach Gruden stepped in!!!

  4. Harry Says:

    @TBBF,
    Good jog! I remember that as well.That was the beginning for the end for MeShawn

  5. Clodhopper Says:

    Win-slow quit day because of “toes on the line” right?

  6. Rrsrq Says:

    Tony Dungy ran off Hardy “har-har” Nickerson

    Like everything else newsworthy, short attention span. “Love, forgive and forget”, move on, next event.

    It’s all been done, said, and an apology issued.

    The bad taste will linger on like Rosie O’Donnel salami breath until the moment ASJ actually helps us win a game.

  9. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Rrsrq

    Peyton Manning ran off the whole punt team during a game, It was 4th and short, and tony dungy called for punt. Peyton Manning waved the team off which ran back to the sidelines. Colts picked up the 4th down and eventually won the game…After the game tony dungy said it was a “miscommunication”!!!!!!!!!

    Hall of Fame coach my A$$ !!!!!

    Not sure what is worse, that image or Joe’s memory of his unfortunate night with scotch once (has nothing to do with Rosie O’Donnell by the way).

    Ladies and gentlemen, getting booted out of town is far different than sending a guy home from a mini-camp whom is still on the roster. The Keyshawn example – Great call TBBF. I completely forgot about that but once you brought it up, I can remember it like it was yesterday. Ahhhh, the good ole days.

  12. Joe Says:

    Hey guys, Key was a good guess. But he was never booted out of a practice. After a game (San Francisco?) he was told to go home for the season.

    Spoke with a Bucs beat guy who has been on the gig for a long time. He can’t recal offhand seeing a Bucs player kicked out of a regular season practice.

  13. Buccfan37 Says:

    Rosie salami breath, I just got a whiff of what that probably smelled like, somebody farted.
