Seferian-Jenkins’ Twitter Shutdown Lasts 1 Hour

June 19th, 2016

austin seferian-jenkins 0812aTwetty Austin Seferian-Jenkins may have been a second-round draft pick, but he’s become a first-round sideshow.

Joe’s waiting for what seems like the inevitable bong mask video.

Yesterday, Joe typed up Seferian-Jenkins’ claim on Twitter that he quit Twitter until the Bucs make the playoffs.

That was great, a smart move for the troubled tight end. But then he was back on Twitter an hour later and firing back  at fans. ProFootballTalk.com guru Mike Florio shared the embarrassing news this morning with the nation.

Joe can only imagine what the power brokers at One Buc Palace are thinking today.

Dirk Koetter has dealt with plenty of strong personalities and distractions during his NFL coaching days. Heck, Koetter was a standout on Hard Knocks with the Falcons. But Joe has to think the leash on Seferian-Jenkins will be very short once training camp begins.

lmao, this is too good. He thought it over and likes trash talking more.

  2. 1sparkybuc Says:

It appears thinking isnot something he does very well. Next man up.

  3. ATrain Says:

If he put half the energy into playing football as he does his Twitter account he would actually ply a few games in a row..

This guy is a joke send him to the bar with Johnny Football they can be the twin poster children of NFL rejects

ASJ hasn’t done much to warrant this much attention, other than get injured and pile up garbage time stats.

ASJ’s highlights include, catching a Hail Mary at the end of a 2 score game, fumbling and having it returned for a TD in overtime, and getting repeatedly flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.

Cameron Brate will take his job if he doesn’t grow up. All talent and no sense only gets you so far.

You have to be tough to be dumb.

  6. Waterboy Says:

    @tickrdr

    I agree with that post.

When Tweety starts showing up and making a difference at important times during the game then he’ll start to somewhat earn my respect but right now he’s just a sideshow with “potential” who puts up garbage time stats.

  7. LordCornelius Says:

He’s a pretty well spoken guy but so was Josh Freeman I guess lol

    Dangit man

  8. Mike Johson Says:

Addiction to anything is a hell of a way to go. And many of us have some addiction in one form or another. Especially the young folk with tweeting and twating. ASJ may be unwilling to devote all of his energies to football. Which is sad because something tells me..he is not for long in the league unless he wakes up this season. Time will tell. But I get this feeling he will not reach his full potential. I hope I am wrong.

  9. Walter Says:

He’s basically forcing the Bucs to cut him unless he balls out this year. He better bring it on the field, or he’s so gone.

  10. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Dont really care if he is on twitter but pretty dumb to make a declaration like that and not hold up to it, men are usually judged on their words and he needs to play like a top 50 draft pick now……..he is basically an idiot from washington that needs to grow up…maybe bucs should steer clear of clemson and washington forever

  11. SB with Jameis Says:

Tired of hearing about Tweety Bird. No offense Joes
Happy Fathers Day to all the rest of you fathers out there!!

  12. Buccfan37 Says:

Tweety turned over a new leaf, baby steps to the calmer nicer version. He in there, whot’s de matta wit dat? Go Tweety!

  13. BucscsQcCity Says:

Damn getting to playoff was fast!

  14. LifeOfABucFan Says:

So what!!!??? So what if he was going to stop being on Twitter and had a change of heart! I swear some people are just so obsessed with him. Slow news season, but geesh, does it always have to be about ASJ tweeting or not tweeting!?? It’s not a crime!

  15. feelthepewterpower Says:

fool me one shame on you…fool me twice shame on me.

  16. salish_seamonster Says:

^^ It’s a problem when you declare yourself done with twizzling and then, 1 hour later, you’re twizzling again. As long as he keeps it respectful and respectable, I’m not gonna worry, but probably makes more sense to lay off, when you have a problem. Social media is a serious addiction for some people – it’s a distraction and a time-suck. If it starts creating problems, it’s not worth continuing.

  17. unbelievable Says:

At least he isn’t threatening people’s girlfriends, wives, and moms anymore. Lol.

Most of his recent tweets were about a charity things the Bucs did, and you’ll see he was even there w/ other teammates like Jameis and McCoy. So… there’s that.

  18. Alan Bucs Says:

I really don’t see what the problem is with his latest tweet. Sounds like people making more of it than they should.

  19. P'cola Buc Says:

Anybody else think that perhaps this young man is doing everything he can to get out of Tampa Bay?…..Would he just prefer to play elsewhere? Hope not…I’ve been looking forward to seeing his talent on the feild and contributing to the Buccaneers. C’mon ASJ, we really want you here. Get it together,we are behind you!

  20. Warren Says:

No discipline and no character. Extremely short leash this season

  21. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

People change their minds. I don’t care that he returned to Twitter. What I care about is his inability to control his mouth and emotions, and to stay healthy.

He acts like he deserves special treatment, when he really doesn’t.

I still have hopes that he will prove out eventually, but IF he even makes the team THIS YEAR, he still has a lot to prove.

  22. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    P’cola Buc Says
“Anybody else think that perhaps this young man is doing everything he can to get out of Tampa Bay?”

It’s a reasonable theory, but I doubt it. If he really wanted out, he would have just said he can do what he wants on his private twitter account and the team can’t stop him. Instead, he “made an effort” (sort of) to address the issue.

Stupid? Yes. Trying to get cut? Not so far, in my book.

I just don’t get how some of these kids behave like this when they have the whole world opened up to them. Not only are they getting paid good money, but they get to play a game most fans only wish they were in the condition and position to play…for less than half what these guys get.

  23. Buc1987 Says:

P’cola Buc …I’ve brought up that scenario a few times as well as a few other posters.

  24. Berserker Says:

He was talking about making the playoffs on Madden

  25. salish_seamonster Says:

I think we should stick to the facts on the issue of ASJ, instead of making up stories and speculating about his intentions. If you see him in interviews and listen to teammates and coaches, they don’t doubt his commitment. He’s been hurt. He’s made bonehead penalties, and had questionable judgement on the field. He’s also shown poor judgement in his twitter behavior, engaging with trolls and haters. Oh, and he wasn’t prepared during one OTA session. Then Joe and everybody out here starts speculating and making up stories about his commitment, his desire to play in Tampa, his character… These things are all made up bits about him, apart from the facts. Some of it may be true, some not. As Bucs fans, I assume we all want him to succeed and play up to his immense talent… so let’s quit the bashing. He’s still kind of an immature kid. I think back to when I was 25 years old, and I can’t imagine how I would’ve handled the various pressures that come from notoriety. It’s a lot to ask. As long as he’s not infecting the locker room with a crap attitude, I see no reason not to be patient with him.

  26. LifeOfABucFan Says:

Well said Salish…he’s 23! I would have loved to see Sapp at 23 tweeting..it’s a non-story and it’s all many of these reporters have..

Headline “ASJ tweeted” so the flock what? I can say there’s one rookie drafted this draft that had really questionable stuff on his page and he took it down when he was drafted. But I caught it…and would I would NEVER say who it was..and why? Because he’s a youngen!

And those that troll ASJ is simply because they are jealous of him..I mean look at their pics..they are homely as sin..lol..

  27. Destinjohnny Says:

Jason passed on sooooooooooo many good players to draft this clown.
His first draft isn’t looking that good more so for the players that we could have hAd.

  28. cmurda Says:

ASJ’s twitter shutdown only lasted an hour, but I tell you what, that was a hell of an enjoyable hour.

  29. Biff Barker Says:

    petulant

    adjective pet·u·lant \ˈpe-chə-lənt\

    Simple Definition of petulant
: having or showing the attitude of people who become angry and annoyed when they do not get what they want.

    Miriam Webster folks.

    Backlash.

The great Twit sign off, being it self imposed, or the more probable organizational suppository, has the life expectancy of chili dog at the beer fest.

ASJ apparently is more committed to his image than the playbook.

  30. Buc1987 Says:

    I…don’t….care…..any….more.

Bring on the football. How many more days until preseason?

  31. Buc1987 Says:

Weeeeeeeeeeeeellll somebody do the math for me already….

  32. Kevin Says:

Asj is a complete joke. A sideshow clown. The guy has a mental disorder that doestn allow him to block out talk and concentrate on his profession. He should be banned from the league and his pay withheld. Make him get a real job. He thinks he is entitled and needs to get a reality check. Goodbye dumbasse!!!!!

  33. LakeLandBuc Says:

So now, being on twitter is a crime.

  34. THETRUTH Says:

Here come some typical bucs fans !! Let’s find someone to kickoff team.

What has this guy really done , you don’t like his tweet poor babies you know what you don’t , SIMPLE DONT FOLLOW HIM.

Only thing wrong was not be prepared for voluntary minicamp.

He isn’t beating people , not getting arrested or dui like half the fans at stadium drive after a game.

Please someone tell me what he has done so wrong except that you have to find someone to kickoff team. Usually it’s McCoy though he is seen by his professional peers who know more about sport than any of us as a top 100 player.

  35. MadMax Says:

Can he play and is he healthy enough to do so?!? Good grief, the guy is very immature, we get it, so are some others. This is that grey area where players need to cut themselves off from fans and nonfans. If he cant figure that out as easy as it is, then yes, I question his abilities figuring out a playbook.

I want him to succeed but also want him to shut the he!! up! Good grief dude, shut them up with your performance on the field! Make some plays that count during this season and all is well.

  36. DemBoyzFromDaBay727 Says:

    @Lakeland Buc

It’s not a crime but when you make this big anouncment and try to be sincere and tell everyone that your not getting back on twitter till the playoffs AND YOUR BACK A HR LATER!!?? Cmon that should tell u everything u need to know about this guy, it shows the commitment and lack of discipline he has. I was really rooting for this guy to turn it around and hoping he hears that sonic boom soon (wich is his head popping out of his @$$) but he’s making it hard for me to do that. focus on football, not lame @$$ twitter ASSJ.

  37. Buc1987 Says:

THETRUTH…ummm he threatened to fight a fan at One Buc and made vulgar statements about a fan’s wife. Ummm I don’t know he also hasn’t really done anything on the field to support his foolish antics. Lots of fans like me could probably overlook the Twitter thing if his production matched his mouth. Which is why I’m Sapp’s biggest fan.

Then he said he would get off of Twitter until the Bucs made the playoffs, only to return an hour later.

This news is on other Bucs sites. So the story is relevant or no one would be writing about it, nor blogging about it so much.

  38. Buc1987 Says:

@Joe…I only know about the stories from other sites because of fans telling me that on your site. I wouldn’t waste my time on those other sites. 🙂

  39. Mikealstottgreatestever Says:

    ASJ clearly has ADHD.
