America’s Quarterback With Germany’s Receiver?

Fearless!

The stat geeks must be soiling their panties trying to make sense of German draft prospect Moritz Boehringer.

Their spreadsheets don’t stretch across the pond.

Boehringer is a wide receiver who played against a bunch of nobody’s in Germany’s top division. A recent ESPN story quoted an unnamed NFL scout saying German football is similar to high school football in the United States.

But Boehringer has an NFL body, 6-4, 227 pounds, and he runs a 4.41-second, 40-yard dash. He can catch, too, and he wowed the gathered scouting masses at a recent “pro day” set up for him in South Florida.

Boehringer has pre-draft visits set up with the Saints, Falcons, Panthers, the Bucs’ NFC South rivals, among other teams.

Would Bucs general manager Jason Licht consider such a prospect? Of course! Licht is the guy who traded up to draft a Division III left tackle last year and then made him a starting right guard. This Licht guy is fearless. The German manbeast is projected as a fifth- or sixth-round draft pick.

Boehringer sitting down with Bucky Brooks and Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com is a fun interview below, with some wacky footage out of Germany. Enjoy.

    Dont tease us Mr Licht!!!!!!

  3. Mr Tampa Says:

Thanks Joe. I’ve seen this kids pro day and I would love to see him with our offense. Imagine 6’5 Evens 6’5 VJ and this 6’4 and 1/2 receiver. The sky is the limit.

  4. DallasBuc Says:

Can he catch the damn ball? If so it’s an immediate upgrade.

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

“Pablo is disturbed…..a German WR?…..what about a quick little Mexican or a tall Honduran?….it seems Pablo’s Bucs would even consider a sticky-handed Lithuanian before one of Pablo’s amigos”

    LOL!!!

And I’ve seen a lot of film on this guy..besides being very nice on the eyes..that man can catch staples in the dark!

  7. James Walker Says:

If he can play special teams he can get on a roster. He will be on a short leash so he better play well immediately.

  8. unbelievable Says:

This dude looks like a very raw, faster Gronk.

I would definitely consider him, maybe even as high as the 4th or 5th round depending on how the rest of our draft shakes out.

  9. d-roca Says:

I think someones gona take him in the 4th. Prob sf since they have 12 picks n chip kellys there now.

  10. Stanglassman Says:

Is Sparkass his team’s sponsor? If we draft him that can be his nickname.

  11. Kevin Says:

Grab him in the 4th Jason!!

  12. Toxic Says:

As a Bucs fan from Germany I would be thrilled to get him!

  13. Trubucfan22 Says:

6-4 with 4.4 speed? i would be surprised if he made it past the 3rd. That size and speed is rare. All of the basketball players turned TE can learn football in a year or 2. This guy already playing football with those measurables will be a hot commodity.

If he played in the US he would be gone by second round

  14. Mike Johnson Says:

The NFL is not the NBA. This is not the..Greg Papovich European layaway plan.
Leave the kid in Germany and let him play..kick the ball between the goal post.

  15. SB with Jameis Says:

Absolutely Loving the guy! 4:41 is probably faster than anyone on our entire team. But HUGELY fast for a 6’4″ 227 pound cat. If he really has good hands he is worth a 4th or 5th round flyer IMO

  16. the real Bucobruce Says:

    Wow,take him at 9!!!!!!!!!

  17. Joehelldeloxley Says:

I read a thing about this kind saying that he should be drafted only to be place in practice squad for one or two year.

  18. DemBoysFromDaBay727 Says:

Licht is the type of guy who like finding those small school, under the radar type of guys so if he is available in the 6th or 7th why not? I could see him going undrafted and the bucs putting him on the practice squad as well.

Never hurts to add a burner to a offense that doesn’t have one right?
