David To Kwon: “Chill!”

April 20th, 2016
A teammate has his trap open too often.

A teammate has his trap open too often.

Lavonte David, stud linebacker that he is, is a really laid back cat off the field. Quiet. Humble. If you didn’t know any better, it would be hard to guess David is a top shelf NFL linebacker.

Ray Lewis-like, David is not.

But the guy lining up in the middle of the Bucs’ linebacker corps, Kwon Alexander, is the opposite of a shrinking violet. Dude is so hungry to get back on the football field and more importantly, win games, Kwon just cannot contain himself.

And sometimes, that doesn’t mesh with the easygoing personality of David, so the Pro Bowler said today at One Buc Palace.

While David loves how Kwon’s enthusiasm is rubbing off on the team, sometimes, it is a bit much.

“You can’t even get him to shut up,” David said of Kwon. “He’s talking all day. We always run into each other [as linebackers] and I hear him talk all day. Sometimes I tell him, ‘You have to chill. I’m tired of you talking. You talk too much.’ That’s the excitement we have.”

While Joe understands how Kwon being such a chatterbox could rub someone the wrong way, Joe just loves the attitude. Kwon’s passion is why folks with the Bucs consider him the Jameis Winston of the defense.

Kwon, like Jameis, will simply will this team to win.

I like Kwon talkin, he wants to win!!! nothing wrong with that we need more guys who are fiery in the locker room

  2. bee Says:

The only thing Kwon needs to chill on is the PEDs. Keep talking and producing Kwon!

  3. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Never heard a Raven complain about Ray Lewis constantly running his mouth.

  4. NashvilleBuc Says:

  5. Joe Says:

Maybe cause dudes get killed around him?

    LOL!!!

  6. 813bucboi Says:

kwon should tell lvd to get ampted up…you can chill once you win a super bowl…until then everyone should be fired up just like kwon…that’s the problem with this team now…our best players and supposed leaders just want to chill and feel comfortable losing…screw em that….kwon stay fired up and continue to be a leader….lord knows we need this type of leadership….GO BUCS!!!

  7. JimBucsFan Says:

I don’t think this is a condemnation of Kwon at all. LVD is as straight of a shooter as it comes, and I can relate. I think LVD was just speaking very, very matter-of-factly, and it sounds a bit like he isn’t fond of Kwon’s enthusiasm. I think he actually likes it, he just very objectively stated that the dude talks a lot, to the point where he has to tell him to chill. NBD, LVD!

  8. DB55 Says:

I bet Brooks had the same talk with Sapp.

  9. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

LVd is a silent assassin. Kwon balances that out.

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Now that Lovie is gone….Kwon can “Kurse”…..

  11. DPewter Says:

David is like Derricks Brooks and Kwon is like Ray Lewis, I don’t see a problem. The Mike is supposed to be the loudest, craziest son of a b!$ch on the team.

GET AMPED KWON! Stay studly David.

  12. Johnny Says:

makes me think of Hardy Nickerson. Didn’t he have an issue with a teammate in the locker room? Perhaps Keith McCants? I hope there’s no comparison here.

  13. Ben the Ga Buc Says:

I’m fine with the talking, as long as he’s doing something, which he was before the suspension. And Lavonte should feel the same way.

  14. Stanglassman Says:

I can see but don’t remember McCants and Hardy not seeing eye to eye. Hardy was such a smart player with a hard work ethic and McCants was the opposite. My father called McCants “see ball get ball” because he talked to some Buc coaches who said privately it was his nickname because he was had such a low football IQ.

As someone who is guilty of talking too much…you can tell from my lengthy posts LOL….just as my lengthy posts and personal conversation habits irritate some here and others in person…I think Kwon’s chatterbox style may just rub LVD personally in the wrong way because he’s a quiet guy.

I know from experience some people feel the need to get away from people like me or Kwon or #3 who simply love life and do not even attempt to limit our enjoyment, enthusiasm and participation in all activities including talking!

I do not take this as a putdown or an indication of any jealousy of Kwon…LVD is simply a quiet guy who doesn’t really like talkers that much. He’d certainly loathe me. LMAO

  16. StPeteBucsFan Says:

BTW as an old dude I can provide a hit from 1960 that describes LVD’s reaction perfectly.

Joe Jones with “You Talk Too Much”. If you listen to the first lyrics you can almost hear LVD singing…..

The more of your “talk” I read STPETE the more I know I would enjoy having multiple conversations, I to am a talk a lot type person.

  18. Buccfan37 Says:

Sounds like to me that LVD thinks Kwon has taken some of his thunder away.

  19. Billdabuc Says:

This makes teams better put it on the field and see witch is better! GO BUCS!

  20. StPeteBucsFan Says:

Thanks a lot Rusty. I suspect we’d have some great chats.

  21. Buns Collector Says:

But the guys at PFF said Kwon is garbage!!!!!!

  22. Espo Says:

Maybe LVD should’ve chilled before saying ONE PLAY ruined their confidence last year.

  23. SOEbuc Says:

I watched that video on buccaneers.com and I dont think LVD meant that in any kind of bad way Joe and Im pretty sure LVD wasn’t saying he was being a chatterbox or rubbing anyone the wrong way. I think LVD was just saying that Kwon is a young guy that is very hyped and can’t wait to get back on the field

  24. CrustyCrab Says:

I hope you guys watch the video he was joking. Like a big bro will tell his little bro

  25. Trubucfan22 Says:

I love the relationship these 2 have. Kwon is the “yang” to David’s “ying”. 2 sides of a coin. It is a match that will last a lifetime and i can’t wait to see them grow on the field even more.

  26. BFFL Says:

Between gmc and Lvd it’s obvious why their defense has been perennial losers
