Connor Barth On Notice

April 29th, 2016
New Bucs kicker Roberto Agauyo.

New Bucs kicker Roberto Aguayo.

Connor Barth, you have been put on notice.

The Bucs traded back up into the second round to pick one of the best kickers in NCAA history, Florida State kicker Roberto Aguayo.

If you are a kicker with dicey accuracy and your team just drafted a legendary kickerĀ in the second round, you better get your s(p)it straight in a hurry.

Or rather, call U-Haul.

Enjoy some of Aguayo’s kicks.

Somewhere, Gil Arcia is going shots.

Always remember and never forget: What Jameis wants Jameis gets.

  1. Marksalot Says:

Licht has inside information on the patriots, they were going to take him.

  2. SB with Jameis Says:

I can tell you what, on the site I most frequent and occasionally write for, we are getting LAUGHED off the board for this one. I just had to log out cause there were too many comments to fight. WOW………Licht you better be Great on your 4th rounder

  3. Rrsrq Says:

Not sure you trade up, you stayed put for Noah. I’m glad he’s a Buc, but he better not miss two FG’s in a row

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

    “Pablo is very excited……Viva Hason!!!”

  5. Greg Says:

Buh-bye Conner, don’t let the door hit you in the ass!

  6. Guzzie Says:

Marsalis….are you high the pats have the best kicker in the league

  7. pete Says:

    Amazing – Awful decision!!!

  8. chargedcbh Says:

the patriots wouldn’t take him. they already have a very good kicker. Like the player but hated the trade. Connor is NOT on notice, he is gone!

  9. Jankowski Says:

Good pick we really didn’t give up anything and look how good and how long Jankowski has been playing if you forget 16yrs I’ll take it

  10. Marksalot Says:

I didn’t even know kickers have highlight reels.

  11. Buc1987 Says:

    Wow….waaaaay too early.

  12. Buc1987 Says:

He is awesome though. He’ll be a Buc for the next 10 years.

  13. TheShaz Says:

Watching the highlight tape – at least he doesn’t go jumping about after a kick.

With the new rule and our own experience last season. A kicker will be the difference in about 2-3 games.

Good kickers are no longer the 3rd – 4th – 5th round prospects anymore.

  14. Leighroy Says:

On notice?!?!? Uh more like Goodbye Conner.

  15. WheresYourBuccaneers? Says:

people are forgetting our kickers cost us wins last year. problem solved. still would rather have gotten Rankins and Bell, both going to the Saints.

  16. P'cola Buc Says:

You naysayers will change your tune when the game is on the line and you need that 50 yard field goal….this guy is a special kicker and win games for you….a couple of times each year! Wonderful pick Licht !

  17. Greg Says:

Go ahead and let them laugh their asses off, this is a weak draft class, Licht has hit a triple so far! Screw all those losers that wish they could have gotten Aquayo in the fourth or fifth round–suck it bitches!!!

  18. Alan Bucs Says:

Don’t see why everybody is freaking out over this one. It is a gutsy pick but this guy has been automatic. There is no guarantee he was going to be there with our 3rd pick.

  19. Gus Says:

What the hell am I doing with my life. Sitting here watching highlights of a damn kicker lmfao

  20. Bucfan007 Says:

We’ll be making kicks we wouldn’t have tried before …..

  21. Beeric Says:

I guess I can’t laugh at the Jaguars anymore. 2nd round??????????!!!!!!!! I’m shocked that Koetter signed off on trading up.

  22. Mr Magoo Says:

I may be blind but this was a brilliant move. This guy will win so many games for us for years to come. People who discount kickers don’t know the new NFL.

  23. lurker Says:

    were there highlights last year?

  24. rayjay1122 Says:

There is not a player that we would get with our 3rd round pick nor the 4th rounder from the Bears that would contribute as much as Aguayo will. Great pick. Solid draft thus far. Would a Safety or DT in the 3rd or 4th round make as much of an impact? Nope. All of the good WRs were gone so I love this pick.

  25. Trubucfan22 Says:

10 yrs? He’ll be a buc for the next 20+.

Elite kickers do get drafted in the first and second rounds. And the best kickers last 20 years in the NFL.

  26. denjoe Says:

We have needs a kicker in the second is a luxury pick and I bleed garnett and gold.

  27. SB with Jameis Says:

I am going to throw the football with my son now. I am REALLY trying to process a Kicker in the FRIGGIN SECOND!!!!!!!!

  28. salish_seamonster Says:

Most boring highlight reel of all time.

  29. JabooBuc Says:

I guess on the bright side we could argue the Bucs drafted the best player at their position for their top 3 picks for whatever that’s worth. Anyone know who the best long snapper is?

  30. pelbuc Says:

Surprising at first but when you think about it , it’s a decision about adding points and field position. Also for all those knocking Licht, he added 4,starters in last year’s draft and has added another 3 already on this year’s draft.

  31. JJV Says:

The Bucs are ready to kick off the 2016 season now!

  32. WINdycitybuc Says:

Not sure what the freakers are freaking out about, this is a pick based on an adaptation to the modern game. It isn’t sexy, but it is smart. Why waste the pick on a fringe player in the 3rd, when you can get a significant contributor at the end of the second?! Let’s trust in the process.

  33. rayjay1122 Says:

For everyone who is griping…. We got 3 solid starters with our first 3 picks. Some people just can’t be satisfied. SMH…Now hopefully we can get another solid contributor like Kwon in the 4th and this will be another great draft.

  34. Jameisbucsfan Says:

The last great kicker from fsu drafted high has been on the Raiders for the last 15 years. Imagine not having to worry about a kicker for the next decade!

  35. BigMacAttack Says:

Fantastic pick. Low risk, very high reward. He may very well become the highest scoring player on the team.

  36. Eric Says:

Oh Lordy I dunno about this.

He better be Adam Veniateri 2.0.

    Lordy.

  37. Brandon Says:

    Wow, worst highlight tape ever!

  38. DB55 Says:

On the clock for Dalvin Cook in 2017. #FSU

“Oh Happy Days” – Jameis Winston

  39. Bucfan007 Says:

Licht is 3 for 3 …. Going for another Grand Slam !

  40. RonRicoFSU Says:

3 awesome picks so far I’m happy.

  41. Alstott40 Says:

    “What Jameis wants Jameis gets”
Isn’t that what got him in trouble in college…

  42. Larry RBF Says:

Unbelievable. How about someone to help protect the franchise like Le’Raven Clark, Christian Westerman or Connor McGovern. No? Then how about someone over 6 feet tall to roam the middle of the field and hit’s like a truck Miles Killebrew. Oh, not our cup of tea. How about a WR to help the aging VJ and the vapor locked Mike Evans like Leonte Carroo. NAH let’s get a kicker. Anything less than 100% field goals and extra points is unacceptable at this price.

  43. SB with Jameis Says:

Wake UP People! It isn’t about IF he is good or not. He is GREAT!
However No other team was going after him before the Fourth IMO!

  44. Eric Says:

Of all the things I never thought I’d see.

    A kicker in second round.

When we need sooooo much help on defense.

Even if the kid kicks a ton of field goals what’s the point if the other team is scoring touchdowns?

  45. SB with Jameis Says:

I think the Bears just scooped us by taking Bullard. I think we would have taken him. Two picks away

  46. BigPoppaBuc Says:

When need meets BPA right, Joe? Don’t know why some freaking out that we traded up for it. It was obvious to most that Licht acquired that extra fourth for exactly this purpose; to trade up and strike when you get a feeling your next targeted player might go before you can pick him. IMO this draft class kind of sucks compared to the past three or four years and it just happens to contain a once in a decade kicking prospect. Don’t have a heart attack Bucs fans we grabbed a starter in the bottom of the second round and didn’t lose a pick.

  47. Supersam Says:

Patriots Panthers and saints all wanted this kid bad and we’re all willing to take him in the second round, Love this pick! Thank you Licht!! I don’t care what the haters think, you want someone you draft them it don’t matter what round!! It’s nice to have a GM with some balls!

  48. meat Says:

WHAT THE F*** are we doing trading up to get a kicker that high!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have far too many holes- love picks one and two but when did we become the Raiders!?!?!?!

  49. rayjay1122 Says:

    @Supersam, well said!!

  50. BigPoppaBuc Says:

Kicker was one of our holes… We needed one. Aren’t you tired of the average run of the mill kickers?

  51. GetToTheChoppa Says:

That’s three starters in three picks. I like it. Now make it 4!

  52. mike10 Says:

I’m excited about this pick.. But that video was painful to watch

  53. Aaron Says:

Only FSU homers like this pick….

  54. Jjbuc Says:

Full disclosure I’m an FSU grad, this is a great pick! Everyone is griping about taking him and giving up 2 picks. But did we really if you break it down. We went from 9 to 11 and got the guy we wanted anyway. Everyone knew that 4th we picked up was trade bait. So essentially, we traded a 3rd for a 2nd and gave away a FREE 4th rounder that we did not have prior to the draft. This is why Jason Light is smarter than all of you (and me). We needed a kicker, this guy is the best kicker in NCAA history and didn’t even play his senior year. From the stats I saw, I don’t believe he has ever missed inside the forty. With the extra point being moved back, this is invaluable. He could be Janikowski, Gostkowski, Vinitieri (sp.?). How many would give left nut for one of those guys. In hindsight, they would all be high 1st rounders, so chill. Glennon for a dourth looking better and better, Kevin Hogan in 6th would make up for it.

  55. mark Says:

Next year when they win a game by 3 because of him, just maybe you’ll remember how we lost some last year because of missed field goals. Laugh all you want about a kicker in the 2nd……but they can be the ones that win the game. Look at some of the super bowls that won or lost by kickers. TRUST in the GM…it’s his job.

  56. Jjbuc Says:

    ^fourth

  57. rayjay1122 Says:

Gator fan here who loves this pick.

  58. SOGGY Says:

The lonesome kickers get no respect until they are needed and put points on the board. Its football and he is very important to our future SB.. Just sayin.. we only gave up our free 4th and used our 3rd in the 2nd.. I like it.. Go Bucs..

  59. ColoradoBuc Says:

Kickers win and lose game and you want to pick up someone off the street? Look what that idiot did to us at the beginning of last year How many games did he lose for us? I applaud the balls you showed, Mr. Licht.

  60. Topdoggie Says:

WTF guys most games are decided by 3 points. Two years I remember for sure we missed the playoffs by one game and said game could have been won multiple times by a missed friggin kick. One year we made the conference title game and lost by allllll together now a missed kick. I sure glad our GM gets that even if the fans don’t.

  61. aaronmay Says:

When you take a kicker this high he better be near 100% – the last time I think of, without googling, a kicker that went this high was Oakland – what have they done?

We need depth and possible real starters every where – so make sure we track all of the possible picks after this kicker and how well they do before we say this was such a great pick…

This was not a pick for the future of our franchise.

Great Dallas, Pats, San Fran, Green Bay, Steelers teams – I can’t remember, and with a trade up in the 2nd round XYZ takes a KICKER! F- ME!

  62. Mike Johnson Says:

Some of you Buc fans have very very short memories. How many games we lost over the last 2 yrs by 1 to 3 points/ Answer..a whole bunch, And Conner Barth has been shakey. its like his better days are way behind him. We need another..Automattica Grammatica people. Look at this kids upside. Very Young, Very good, and still developing and growing. I like this pick. It has nothing but..upside. Really good kickers are hard to find nowadays. Aguayo
    will pay off.

  63. LifeOfABucFan Says:

Wow..good post Mike..good to see you happy about this kid!

    On a side note:
When Aguayo was called..I went immediately to Barth’s twitter page..he took everything down on his bio about Bucs..I mean ALL wording is gone..now all he has is the side business he’s doing..

How many of you think we will take the German Body of a God but bad farmer’s tan WR???? I do!!!!

  64. LifeOfABucFan Says:

and this pick has overshadowed that we got Spence too..lol…

  65. MartyB Says:

    Seriously ?

“Always remember and never forget: What Jameis wants Jameis gets.” Jameis is a promising young QB. He may answer questions about players he knows…but…there is no way Jameis dictates what players are selected by the NFL team he is employed by.

  66. ATrain Says:

All of you who said this was a bad pick, PLEASE tell me what Team you have been part of a draft for? Or better yet any GM’s in here..

Remember what y’all said about Marpet …….

This kid will score a lot of points.. No losing by 3 or 6 this year
