Bucs Trade Up And Draft Roberto Aguayo

April 29th, 2016
Aguayo

Lifelong Bucs fan

Robertomatica?

It doesn’t quite fit, but it’s what the Bucs are seeking by trading up to take college football’s premier kicker, Roberto Aguayo, in the second round tonight.

Wow!

Aguayo is considered a game-changer, a once-in-generation kicker from Florida State. And he’s a Bucs fan, so Aguayo told Joe at the NFL Scouting Combine in February. Aguayo’s parents brought him to Bucs training camp as a kid in Orlando and he enjoyed watching Matt Bryant (now with the Falcons) and others.

The Bucs coughed up their third-round and one fourth-round pick to move up and get the No. 59 overall pick from Kansas City.

Bold pick by Jason Licht. But is it really? Points on the board is money in the bank.

Great teams have money kickers. The Bucs have 30-year-old Connor Barth, whose best days might be in his rearview mirror. Barth was a miserable 6-for-11 from 40+ yards last season, among the worst percentage in the NFL.

    WOW!!!

  3. Marksalot Says:

I know kickers put up a lot of points…….but not happy, Von Bell is still available

  4. iamkingsu Says:

Wasting picks. We don’t have to trade up to get these players

  5. buc89 Says:

With PAT’S being so important now, This is a brilliant move

  6. DaRealistBucFan Says:

Like I said Licht Is an ABSOLUTE MORON!!! You just gave away 2 potential starters for a kicker!!😅😅😅😅😅 laughing stock of the NFL

  7. BucMania Says:

    Awesome .. Love it

  8. Guzzie Says:

Depends what we gave up we could’ve had him in the 3rd without giving up a pick nice pick but way to high

  9. Leighroy Says:

    No pressure…..

  10. ElioT Says:

3 injury prone DTs on the roster, no Safeties, thin at WR.

I can’t believe we traded up for a f**king kicker.

  11. Bucsfan1986 Says:

Omg that moment when you do a cartwheel in your living room over drafting a kicker #bucslife

  12. BucGator Says:

Love it! A little early but if he is our starting kicker for 10 years it will be worth it

  13. JabooBuc Says:

I’m a Nole but not a fan of this pick. A 3rd and 4th to make this pick is way too much.

  14. ChessMaster Says:

LOVE IT! Kickers score more points than anyone. Gramatica is the all time scoring leader in Bucs history.

  15. Tampa Tony Says:

This kid better not miss a kick for at least 3 years

Gave up 2 picks to get a kicker? When we still need a WR and dl????

  16. iamkingsu Says:

    Stay put Licht!

  17. NJBucsFan Says:

    Hmmm. Too early

  18. Walter Says:

Excitement was high after getting Spence, now I feel deflated

  19. McClorasMaddenDaddy210 Says:

I don’t watch watch college sports so…so yea, i don’t know what to think lol

  20. tbucs Says:

I love it, I like how Jason thinks.

  21. AceofAerospace Says:

Am I the only one that has correctly picked these first 3 picks. No, I didn’t do it on this site. Too bad, you’ll just have to trust me.

  22. buccfan305 Says:

OMFG!!!!! I never knew my drinking would affect the Bucs choices…..I gotta quit now!!! What a f#@king dumb pick…

  23. MadMax Says:

NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought we might be able to get him later, but someone couldve been targeting him, and we just couldnt take that chance.

  24. wesley Says:

Great pick, kickers are way underrated.

  25. rayjay1122 Says:

So we gave up the freebie 4th round pick we fleeced the bears for so basically we used a 3rd rounder on a guy who is going to start and score points. I am OK with it. We got 3 new starters. Solid draft and anything else is gravy.

  26. Vincente Says:

When he starts kicking game winners your gonna eat it. 3 points is better than no points.

  27. flmike Says:

29 of 41….that’s all you need to know
That was the Buc’s field goals last year

  28. Mr. T Says:

    Goodbye Barth and Murray

  29. Bird Says:

Maybe the best kicker in college football history. Darealist who keeps posting here. You are an absolute moron. They had extra 4th. Can still get safety from duke in 4th round. Obviously bucs didn’t like vonn bell. No lease stop saying licht should be fired. Great draft. Sure kicker is a luxury pick but points win games and kicker position average at best

  30. finishers Says:

    f**cking dumb!

  31. ChessMaster Says:

With so many games decided on last second FG, this will add at least 1 or 2 wins a year.

  32. MadMax Says:

Well, Raiders drafted Janikowski with a 1st. And look how that turned out for them!! I love the pick! It fits a need and he’ll be money for us FG after FG.

  33. Astrobob Says:

Grr was. Light in bathroom!!? A kicker this early and trade up!,.

  34. Mike Says:

So we basically gave up the free 4th rounder we got- you guys won’t be whining when he is making game winning kicks.

  35. Bucnut Says:

This is the kind of crap losing teams do. Look at the raiders with janakowski. A once in a generation kicker who kicked for losing teams his entire career. Jason licht becomes Al Davis. We could have a had a nice slot receiver and more offensive help in the third and forth round. Terrible!!!!

  36. Tackleblockwin Says:

I like the pick, but did we need to move up? Maybe they got scared someone was taking him and they wanted him in 3d.

  37. ndog Says:

Im not sure how this is a bad pick. I mean with the new rules for kickoffs and the extra point being longer this is a great move. Plus does anyone remember the Houston game last year were we lost it 100% because of not having a kicker?

  38. Floridaboybill Says:

My dream almost true all we need now ls wr

  39. DaRealistBucFan Says:

One positive thing about these picks is Licht cant blame anyone but himself when they fire his dumbass! Thank for setting us back 4 more years Jackass!#FireLichtNow

  40. unbelievable Says:

    Who’s got big balls?

    Licht’s got big balls!

Yes Licht’s got the biggest, balls of them all!\

  41. 1nebuc Says:

Im a florida state fan love the player but not the move up. However this draft is about ATTITUDE! WINNING ATTITUDE! SO IM GOOD WITH THE PICK. WE WILL MOVE BACK INTO THE 3RD

  42. DI Says:

Apparently everyone forgot the amount of games we’ve lost recently because of poor kicking.

  43. iamkingsu Says:

Hold on we gave up a 3rd and 4th?? Nobody was going to pick him before we select again. We’re going to give away so many picks under licht tenure smfh

  44. Richard Dickson Says:

Clearly they didn’t think Aguayo would last until their third round pick. If he’s the guy you want and you don’t think he’ll be there, go get him.

  45. mark Says:

For everyone hating this pick……how many games did we screwup by missed field goals? It might not be so bad pick.

  46. Abdominal Snowman Says:

Very surprised with bell and billings still being there but I’m not that upset. We got a generational kicker who will score us a lot of points. How many games do we have to lose based on choked field goals every season? I can think of at least two just last year.

  47. Trubucfan22 Says:

Kicker was a dire need. Did we forget the 3 games we lost thanks to our horrible kicking last season?

Sure some fans thought he would be there in the 3rd or even 4th. But obviously the bucs had intel saying he was much more coveted than that. I am happy to have the best Kicker in NCAA history. Not a bad deal. Kickers have gone in the FIRST round. And here sits the best kicker in college football history late in the second round.

Im happy with the pick. It is a need and he is the best in the business.

  48. dmatt Says:

Whaaaatttttt? We gave up two picks to get a kicker? r u kidding me? As bad as we need defensive help kicker is the last thing we need to draft. I cant believe this is happening. Did we not learn anything from last year’s bonehead trade to get a rookie kicker from detroit.

  49. Bird Says:

And we didn’t give up two picks. The third into the second is a switch and then we gave up the second 4th we obtained.

  50. rayjay1122 Says:

If we had of had solid kicking last year, we would have won a few more games. This is abstract but solid nonetheless.

  51. buccfan305 Says:

I Understand the pick….but to give up picks to trade up and take a kicker????….are you F#@king kidding me????? Now we don’t have a 3rd or a 4th WTF???? Are they paying attention to what our division rivals are doing???? We my as well start looking for a new coach and GM

  52. Power Vapor Says:

If he is elite, I like it. If he is solid for 10+ years for us imagine all the games he will have a chance to win

  53. MadMax Says:

And Janikowski was also from Fl. St.

  54. Capt Blighe Says:

Vonn Bel land Braxton Miller and we take a fing kicker in the 2nd round.
    You Suck JL

  55. iamkingsu Says:

I’m not saying the pick was bad. It’s just that we didn’t have to trade up to do so

  56. Guzzie Says:

Stupid plain and simple kicker in the 2nd get the f33k out of here, and give up a pick we could’ve had Braxton Miller Andrew Billings Vonn Bell that’s a trying to be smarter than everyone else and looking like a dumb SOB, anyways it’s over now, welcome to Tampa Roberto

  57. Costa Rica John Says:

We could have stayed and got him in round three. Damn it. I know he will be a long time great kicker and will be a starter but he would have dropped to us.

  58. wesley Says:

    Exactly right Mark

  59. MadMax Says:

We still have a 4th……calm down. Even if we didnt, he’s money and worth it.

  60. WheresYourBuccaneers? Says:

confidence restored. This may be a decent draft after all

  61. BCB Says:

I cannot believe that just happened. Unreal.

  62. Capt. Tim Says:

This draft is as bad, as last year was good
    Just yerrible.
I was estatic this time last year.

Mayock is laughing his ass off at this team. They didnt need to trade up for a damn kicker
Instead, we give up a 4th round pick needlessly
Not to mention that a 2nd round pick is waaaay to high for a kicker

Coulda drafted a DT in 3rd, Damn kicker and S in 4th

    Slow, Short Cb
    Short DE with baggage
    Kicker

Yeah- Lovie was doing the drafting

  63. Trubucfan22 Says:

Kickers last 20 years in this league. Spending a couple mid round picks to address the need is wel worth it. Good kickers are not found on the street.

  64. flmike Says:

    http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/stats/playersort/nfl/year-2015-season-regular-category-scoring

Checkout the top scorers in the NFL….this is why you don’t let a once n a generation kicker get past you if you have essentially free picks…

  65. Rswag Says:

So stupid, we gave away our 3rd rounder to trade up for a kicker? We were doing well until this. You need all kinds of d-like help and maybe another receiver. Seriously, this is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen. Just like Peyton Manning said years ago, all over an idiot kicker? Unbelievable? I don’t care if you need a kicker. You shouldn’t be relying on the kicker to win you many games anyway. Go score some freaking points or knock the lights out of the other qb. What kind of craziness is this?

  66. JabooBuc Says:

I find it hard to believe they needed to trade up to make this pick. Kickers are fickle. The guys comes in and misses a couple early and he may never be the same. I like the kid and again, I am a Nole, but this seems like a really big reach.

  67. Destinjohnny Says:

Jason is way 2 smart to make that move.
    Channeling his inner mark Dominick

  68. Bucnut Says:

bucfan 305 said it all!! What a dumb ass pick.

  69. Jake Says:

You idiots that don’t value this pick are the retards burning your hot dogs in the parking lot and staring at our hot ass girlfriends asses by the pirate ship of us guys who actually played and understand football and the scoring system. Jason licht is the on the verge of being the best general manager in the NFL!!!!!

  70. The Real Drew Says:

Some people on here need to go brush up on math when they claim we gave up 2 starters or 2 picks for this guy. When you trade 2 picks for 1, you are only losing 1 pick.

  71. 1trubuc Says:

No Hate here! I love the pick, dont like giving up our 4th to do this but, this is our #SEABASS#GOBUCSGO! I’m hyped so far but damn we need a WR & S. Lets get it done tomorrow please

  72. Arealbucsfan Says:

WTF!!! We could have gotten Andrew Billings!

  73. buccfan305 Says:

I’m so done with this F#@king draft ….I hate to say it…but Lovie’s dumb a$$ wouldn’t have made that move….

  74. Arealbucsfan Says:

If we don’t go after Braxton, Ima be p!ssed!!!!

  75. Capt Blighe Says:

And we gotta pay him second round money.
We just let the Jets off the hook. a 3 and a 4 WWWWTTTTFFFF

  76. rayjay1122 Says:

New England was poised to take him which is why they traded back right after we made the pick.

  77. Mike Says:

You Morons! We didn’t give up two picks. We gave up a 3rd and a 4th rounder and got a second. We lost a 4th, ONLY, which we got for dropping 2 spots and still getting the same guy we wanted. I think this pick is great! He coulda/woulda won us a few games last year! Or do you forget that.

  78. NashvilleBuc Says:

With so many games decided on last second FG, this will add at least 1 or 2 wins a year.

    —–

    I agree!!!!

  79. Bucnut Says:

So much for the Licht is a draft genius rep. The rest of the league si drafting REAL players and we are trading up for “generational” kickers.

  80. buc89 Says:

You guys are WAY underestimating the value of ACCURATE kickers in today’s nfl. We basically spent a 4th because the 3rd was a trade

  81. BigMacAttack Says:

This is a great move and awesome pick IMO. Licht must have had scuttlebutt that someone was going to take Aguayo. So again Licht made a bold move to get his guy. It should solidify the position for years and years. Besides, how many first and second round picks have the Bucs wasted over the last 10 years. This kid is rock solid.

  82. Trubucfan22 Says:

How is VH3 slow? 4.45 is damn fast. Plenty fast to keep up with any WR. The difference between 4.44 and 4.35 is literally faster than a blink of the eye.

  83. Mike Says:

Entertaining reading post from people that don’t understand the compensation we gave up….my 8 yr old son understood the trade. I hope you guys are drunk and not just stupid.

  84. Jameisbucsfan Says:

Best kicker ever! I just jumped across my living room! All the haters will eat it soon enough.

  85. Bucnut Says:

we should have gone after Braxton Miller. We would score touchdowns with out having to make 65 yard field goals. ONLY FSU and a few misguided other fans like this pick.

  86. iamkingsu Says:

    @buc89

You’re missing the point. We didn’t have to trade anything for him. He was going to be there when we select again.

  87. Erick Says:

Some Bucs fan will just never be satisfied. How can you not at least give Licht the benefit of the doubt after the last 2 drafts? Yea it’s a risk, but what pick isn’t? If this pans out, he will be our ALL-TIME leader in points 10 years from now!

  88. DaRealistBucFan Says:

    @BucNut
You are so right. Only losing teams build from the back end to the front. Licht is as dilusional as All Davis was in his old age. Thinking its about time to jump off this sinking ship and become a Jags fan. They’ll get to the playoffs before the Bucs will.

  89. ShutTheBucUp Says:

He would have been there in the 3rd…

  90. I Got What I Wanted Says:

Anybody saying Licht is an idiot over this move, absolutely doesnt know a thing about how to build a team. This is a true foundation pick. This dude will be solid for the next 10+ years.

  91. StPeteBucsFan Says:

Some here get it…others do not. Aguayo is not just a kicker.

    From Walter Football

Aguayo is one of the top kickers in college football history and was a three-time First-Team All-American. He connected on 81 percent, 90 percent, and 96 percent of his field goal attempts over the past three seasons, respectively.

Aguayo has a strong leg and never missed an extra point over three years. With the change of the NFL’s extra point rules, Aguayo is even more valuable.

  92. DaRealistBucFan Says:

Erick only retards give up as much as we gave up for a kicker. Only retards draft slow n short dB’s with short arms to cover tall fast lengthy wide receivers.

  93. BigMacAttack Says:

Don’t be surprised if Licht gives up his 4’th and more picks to move back into round 3. It ain’t over yet ladies. This gm had brass balls and has an eye for good players.

  94. Buc1987 Says:

DaRealistBucFan ….yeah thinking that’s a good idea for you.

  95. richbucsfan Says:

is the draft over? of course not … who knows what else Licht has up his sleeve…. he’s filling needs one at a time …. give him some space will ya

  96. mike10 Says:

This guy wasn’t making it to the third round! He’s been projected to the second round for months now.. I just don’t like what we had to give up, compared to what we go moving back 2 picks in the FIRST. Grow balls Licht, win a trade for once.

  97. MadMax Says:

He moved in front of the Patriots 2 picks…..they had back to back picks and knowing bellicheat, he couldve used one of them on the best kicker in the draft. I think thats what Licht was thinking. Remember, he studied under Bellicheat!

  98. mike10 Says:

    Got*

  99. Vorblaw Says:

The consensus best CB in the draft. The consensus best speed rusher in the draft. The most accurate NCAA kicker ever. Good draft. Suck it haters!

  100. Trubucfan22 Says:

We had a FREE 4th round pick from the hargreaves trade. So we used house money to move up and ensure we got our guy. It was a legit great move. A typical Licht move. He is always moving up in the second round. It is awesome to see the bucs get the guy they really want. I love it.

  101. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    DarealistBuc

Hey we can agree at last!

Thinking its about time to jump off this sinking ship and become a Jags fan.

Exactly dude. We couldn’t agree more. Don’t let the door hit you in the arse on the way out and btw take your weak assss posts with you.

  102. Tom T. Says:

Good. Lord. We have holes everywhere on this team and we give up picks to take a K in the 2nd round!?!? Ignoring the WR position isnt going to make it better! Brutal pick this early.

  103. Spanishbuc Says:

To the people who say that this was a stupid pick, you don’t know anything about football. Nobody scores more points than kickers

  104. Erick Says:

We gave up the 4th we fleeced Chicago for. So basically we traded our 3rd for a 2nd. I agree with Mike, I hope some of you are just drunk and not that stupid.

  105. Buc1987 Says:

SPBF…Hey we AGREE. This clown needs to become a Jags fan. Embrace it.

  106. Bucnut Says:

I just got done looking at a list of the players we might have drafted instead of our “generational” kicker. It is sickening!!

  107. BucDaddy82 Says:

Love all of the NFL GM’s on here. LOL Great pick, you need a great kicker. Automatic points! GO BUCS!

  108. salish_seamonster Says:

I hate this pick, but I’ll be glad we have him once he starts popping game winners.

Still think we need a safety and a DT.

  109. Rswag Says:

You don’t spend a second round pick on a kicker, I don’t care if he can kick it 100 yards. You don’t rely on 3 points. This team has been doing for years and that’s why they struggle. They settle for the field goal. Go for the win. You think the patriots won because their kicker scored? Their kicker scored lots of points because he was chipping in on a team who could put up possibly 6 touchdowns a game sometime plus his field goals on top of that. Craziness, no wonder we don’t ever figure it out. We’re not tough or have the winning attitude. We’d rather settle for the 10-15 point games and hope our d holds up. Can’t hold up when you don’t have enough talent in the front 4.

  110. Jmoneyisback Says:

    Patriots were gonna take him

  111. Buc1987 Says:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_vpfblTqng

  112. buc89 Says:

    @Iamkingsu

You know he would be there in the third? If Jason Lichts Intel says no he’s not then you make the deal. Keep in mind there’s a reason he’s getting paid millions to make these decisions and you’re not. No disrespect.

  113. 74 bucs fan Says:

    What were your picks bumbassrealist?

  114. Spanishbuc Says:

Do you guys remember when we lost to the Texans last year because we couldn’t kick a field goal? That’s not going to happen again for the next 12 years.

  115. Bucs53 Says:

Some of y’all need to pay more attention. They’ve moved extra points back and the kickoff is changing. Aguayo’s ability to pooch kick and his automatic aim are game changers. He’s going to help the Bucs with points and field position, and all it cost us was the extra 4th we got yesterday to go up and get him. So, in essence our 3rd round pick was Agayo.

    Done and done.

  116. Mike Says:

Erick….when are they going to realize we gave up a 4th that we got for free. It’s all over this blog and yet people still can’t believe what we gave up. SMH

  117. MadMax Says:

Grand slam coming up again if Pharoh Cooper is still sitting there when we pick in the 4th.

  118. Capt Blighe Says:

we have too many holes to spend 2 picks on a kicker.
    He was projected round 4-6

  119. Bucnut Says:

Erik- you are correct we gave up a third and an obtained 4th for a 2nd. I have no problem with that. We did it last year to get Marpet. My problem is with WHO with selected. HE would likely would have been there we we picked in the third and we still would have had the extra 4th. Trading up for this guy is a HUGE waste

  120. THETRUTH Says:

How many of these people complaining would like to have janakowski on team the past 12 years , where it’s almost automatic points. Exactly !!!

Good pick , have to give up something to move up into 2nd round so good we had another 4.

The GM sucks comment is from fans who don’t know football , look at last years draft dam excellent job. Trust buc fans

  121. Buc1987 Says:

You don’t return kickoffs from Aguayo unless it’s from the back of the end zone.

  122. Rswag Says:

Nobody scores more then kicker? Haha…. Yeah nobody on the bucs ever will cause we want all field goals. Why would we anything different? It’s so fun to watch our team settle in on games and play not to lose. Sheesh….

  123. Sadbucfan Says:

I might of died a little or am feeling deep respect for licht can’t tell yet

  124. Buc1987 Says:

Bucnut…he would have been there according to you.

  125. Buccaneer Rob Says:

Licht must have had knowledge that Aguayo would not be available much longer, and pulled the trigger. This guy is a generational kicker and I think it is a brilliant, ballsy move. We got four starters in the first four rounds last year, and already have 3 starters in this year’s draft. If Licht can pull off one more miracle and get a starter in Round 4 (still got that pick, nice move going back in round 1) he will be a friggin’ genius for doing it two years in a row. #puttingkohonesonthetable!

  126. Steve Says:

Guys the 4th round pick we gave up was house money. Im essence we picked this guy with our 3rd roind pick. To everyone saying we gave away so many picks…We only gave away 2 got 1 in return there we gave away 1 that being the free 1 from the bears in the first. Chill out how many games did we lose last year because of missed field goals???

  127. Brian Says:

    Erick.. they ARE that stupid.

  128. Buc1987 Says:

He’ll be kicking for us for the next 10 years. So learn to like it.

  129. Dave Says:

No problem. They gave up a 4th and they still have one.
I would have preferred waiting to see if he was there later, but no problem

  130. cometowin2 Says:

I wanted Braxton Miller and would of been happy with Billings or Von Bell but I certainly don’t want Licht fired. He was not going to be there in the 4th round. Just wish we would of kept the 4th and waited till the 3rd. He’s got brass balls that one. What if he ends up in the HOF and kicks for 15 years? Chill a little.

    Move up for Braxton.

  131. Guzzie Says:

I’m taking Roberto in the 2nd round of my fantasy draft….CHAMPIONSHIP

  132. chipbuc Says:

I dont know if i would pick the kicker this high if i was GM, but i think Licht knew his old buddy Robinson from Tennesse was ready to pounce on Aguayo at the top of the 3rd round. So Licht made the deal with KC to pick Aguayo. All we can do is wait and see how he turns out.

  133. Buc1987 Says:

    Guzzie…good call.

  134. Bucco Bruce Says:

They essentially just drafted the guy they would have in the 3rd but earlier. The 4th we got from the Bears was trade bait at some point and was pretty much a free pick. If this is what they would have picked anyway but wanted to make sure thy got him I really don’t see the issue. It’s like if we picked him at 3rd round pick everyone would be good but because they made sure they grabbed him we are now bad? They got the CB you all liked got the DE I wanted from the start, at which point most ppl were ecstatic. They then pick up a good kicker and everyone ( most of which I never even see post here this last month or 2 ) scream for Licht to be fired? Come on man. You are either behind this team, front office, coaches, and players or not. If not gtfo period.

  135. DaRealistBucFan Says:

He was 5-10 past 49 yards last year and he pukks everything right. Yes he’s real automatic

  136. Greg Says:

Capt Tim, et al, all of you that are freaking out need to relax, this is a crappy draft class, and I think Licht has hit a triple so far! Love this pick, this guy is MONEY for the next 10-12 years!

  137. Rswag Says:

It’s funny to hear people on here explaining why we need a for sure kicker. What’s that good for again? 1 extra point and one field goal for this team? You can’t get points with your kicker if you don’t have the offense to get it down there or the d to turn the field around on downs or a turnover. We don’t know anything about football? Quit being a bunch of sissy’s. Kickers shouldn’t even be a part of the game. Waste of a pick this early. I wouldn’t care if he was there in the 7th round. Kicker barely plays the game anyway.

  138. WhatTheBucIsWrongWithYou Says:

Lol does anyone watch NFL football? They just changed the rule for the extra point. Aguayo has never missed under 40yds, provides a safety net, and Winston can trust he always has a great shot at three points if he gets past the opposing 40. We got a free pick from the Bears so this was basically a 3rd round pick on a potential 10-15yr player. Anyone who doesn’t see that potential along with the risk is being naive, every pick is a risk but this guy is proven.

  139. Couch Fan Says:

Would you people stop with the ignorant, “We’ve got to many holes” crap. A kicker was a hole that needed to be filled. it’s now filled. 1 less hole. Sound like a bunch of clueless whiney kids.

  140. Buc1987 Says:

That’s true Bruce. He MIGHT have made to their pick in the 3rd. Might, but they didn’t really lose anything id that was their target.

  141. StPeteBucsFan Says:

Last year 25% of all NFL games were decided by 3 points or less. Can some of you guys do math and figure it out?

BTW…figure this…we drafted 3 defensive players and one offensive player.

Aguayo will be the ONLY player on the Bucs to play both offense and defense.
Offense obviously when he’s kicking FG’s and the no longer automatic extra points.

Defense when he kicks off giving the opposing team no field position.

  142. Buc-Naked Says:

These posters drive me crazy. Yeah, you know sooooooo much more than Mr. Licht??? Go back to your job and let a REAL NFL GM, do his! Great draft so far! GO BUCS!!!!

  143. WhatTheBucIsWrongWithYou Says:

Newsflash, kickers are a part of the game and lost us games last year. Our offense had a rookie qb throw for franchise records…js

  144. Buc1987 Says:

DaRealistBucFan …why are you still here?

    http://www.bigcatcountry.com/

  145. Buc1987 Says:

    SPBF…I know your happy.

  146. Rswag Says:

You don’t know if he’ll be kicking for 10 years. Get a clue. I wouldn’t care if he could. I’d rather spend a second round caliber pick on a guy that will smash qb’s for a good 5 years then this or a wr who will put up good numbers for years and score some points.

  147. DaRealistBucFan Says:

Everybody that keeps saying this scrub is money plz explain to me why he was 5-10 from 40 yds or more. Go ahead I’ll wait!

  148. WhatTheBucIsWrongWithYou Says:

Da realist you lie. Lol he’s only missed 9 kicks in his career

  149. Buc1987 Says:

Rswag…come back during the season and say that.

  150. Bucco Bruce Says:

I just wish people would be actual fans and get behind their team and stop crying every 5mins. You are either with it or not. Give them a chance to make this team right. They have been working on and improving a team that has been in the doghouse a while now. Until they give me reason otherwise I am being positive. Hell I didn’t like Hargreaves but I am not crying about the pick. If the front office and coaches feel he is what we need I will respect that. They have done well so far.

  151. Buc1987 Says:

Rswag …he’ll score more points than any WR the Bucs could have drafted.

  152. Bucco Bruce Says:

As a side note for some of you. If you want to be so negative about your team there are 31 other teams to go root for. We won’t miss you.

  153. Spanishbuc Says:

Rswag hit the gas mask bong with Tunsil and it killed too many brain cells

  154. Lumpy Football Says:

Buc53 is absolutely correct, with the rule change putting touchbacks at the 25 you need a kicker who can pooch the ball inside the 5 and keep the returning teams from reaching the 20. Just watch FSU games from last year to see how many times Aguayo held teams inside the 20.

  155. Scurvy Dogs Says:

    @DaReslistBucFan

I think I speak for all the real fans when I say, we have no respect for anything you have to say after saying you will jump ship. Just go away or reinvent yourself with a name change.

  156. WhatTheBucIsWrongWithYou Says:

    3 time all American

  157. Mike Johnson Says:

Buc fans have short memories. How many close games did we lose last yr and the year before that? If this kid is the real deal..and I suspect he is, We could have another ..even better..automattica grammatica in the house. !! Seriously, Who is to say he would be there in the 3rd when we had picked again.? If the kid puts points on the board fron far out? I’m all in Buc fans. And you should be to. Conner barth is very unpredictable. And this kid has a lrg and youth on his side. No, I don’t like giving up a third. Butt…we may have a lifetime kick’em thru the uprights man for a long long time who..wins a lot of close games for us.

  158. BUC55 Says:

This is GREAT pick. You haters obviously don’t understand the game. Pretty sure Light knew where he had to take him. Maybe the best kicker in the nfl as a rookie??!!

    Best cover corner
    Best edge rusher
    Best kicker in 20 years
    Not done yet

  159. ndog Says:

So we have drafted the best cover corner in the draft, the best pure pass rusher in the draft and the best kicker in the draft and everyone is pissed?

  160. the real Bucobruce Says:

for those of you who don’t like the pic get football educated

  161. Couch Fan Says:

“I’d rather spend a second round caliber pick on a guy that will smash qb’s for a good 5 years then this”

We already got one of those.
    ————————————–
“or a wr who will put up good numbers for years and score some points.”

Not a pressing need but You do realize Kickers score lots of points right?
    —————————–
Your posts makes no sense other than it seems you are just wanting to bitch and moan for no apparent reason.

  162. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

“Pablo approves…for sure…..and Pablo thinks fans that don’t like this pick may be racist”

  163. WhatTheBucIsWrongWithYou Says:

I picture some trolls as ugly creatures, others have the bright pink or blue hair. Not sure which ones are posting tonight.

  164. cometowin2 Says:

Almost everyone of us would of moved up to get Spence including me. If Licht did not move up for Spence then I am confident he had to move up for Aguayo.

We hade more starts from rookies last year than any other team. It will happen again. Have a little faith in your team. .

  165. K2 Says:

The Bucs could save millions and countless hours of work…all they need to make the right decision is a bunch of guys drink beer. Who knew?

  166. Brent bull/buc Says:

Lol! The consensus best speed rusher if you can keep him clean!! He got kicked out of the big 10!!! Can anyone say ybor!!! I was just starting to calm down then you take a kicker in the 2nd and give up a 4th. What a panic move. Bad year last year kicking so we panic. Sad.. Can find a kicker dime a dozen. Heard he missed 5 kicks last year anyways. Bell billings Bullard all out there. Wow!! You can’t even spin this bs. Honey pass me the jack I’m done tonight..

  167. Bucco Bruce Says:

Feels like the haters have suddenly disappeared. Just like how they act as fans. Post crap, talk smack, then run while the smart people here talk football. It’s tempting for some you huh? Just think 31 other teams out there for ya.

  168. ShutTheBucUp Says:

Get real people. A f#&$king kicker? One of the dumbest draft picks I’ve ever witnessed. What’s next? Gonna trade up for a long snapper? What a waste

  169. rayjay1122 Says:

I LOVE THIS DRAFT CLASS SO FAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO BUCS!!!!!!!!!

  170. Buccfan37 Says:

After reading the archive link article and comments on the Aguayo interview with Joe, I question this pick also. Buc 1987 had concerns with Aguayo’s kicking outside the 40 and his declining % of successful attempts. Sure he is a good kicker, in a later round. Perhaps the Bucs roster is stronger and with the coaching changes better than most think.

  171. rayjay1122 Says:

To all of the fans that are happy and actually understand football, don’t let the morons steal your joy. Never argue with an idiot as they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

  172. Rswag Says:

Here is our kickers weaknesses that you guys are so excited about coming from people who study players and all: Saw his accuracy dip in 2015. Made just 5-of-9 field goals from 41 yards and beyond. Will occasionally lose track of a kickoff and knock it out of bounds. Only attempted six kicks of 50-plus yards during his career. While quality of kickoffs have improved, still doesn’t have a booming kickoff leg.

Is that worth a second round again? I’m not sure, but I’ll go with the ones saying kickers get screwed up, if things go down. It could mess them up pretty bad. How did that work our kicker last year when he couldn’t fine the goal posts? Never mind while you guys mock me or others with your sissy kicker love. You can all have fun when our team sits there and settles for field goals. Because as one of you idiots put it, Jameis will know he has an automatic 3 points. I’m sure if you’d ask Jameis if he’d rather have a kicker over a reliever or any other target, you’d get a big fat NO. You obviously, don’t know Cut throat football. Bunch of pansies.

  173. Bucco Bruce Says:

It’s not about the kicker being picked. It’s about being behind your team. We have yet to been given a reason to “Licht” the torches. Just be a fan and not a drama queen. If all this blows back at some point sure voice the anger and or disappointment. It hasn’t yet though so give it all a chance.

  174. Danthefan Says:

    Please leave darealistbucfan.

  175. The bucfan 88 Says:

Okay first of all realist go to the jags and be happy with there team not winning a super bowl ever!!!!!! Second I like the pick he’s the best kicker with the game changing we needed a kicker third the pats was going to take him I’m sure the traded back as soon as we pick him fourth I keep hearing about all these holes and I say what holes we got the secondary fixed sure we it would be nice to get a saftey but I’m sure will get that soon the D-line is set we have got the spence brothers gmac jack smith look pepole if u don’t like the pick please for the love of God……..GO ROOT FOR ANOTHER TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  176. Bucballya Says:

If he continues to be a money kicker, he will help us win a lot of games, and he WANTS to be a BUC! So he should stay here his whole career! Licht probably had good reason to think the Pats were poised to draft him so he traded up and grabbed him first, schooling his old boss Belichick in the process!

  177. WhatTheBucIsWrongWithYou Says:

It’s ok, most of these fans want the flash and the position player pick. Prob were pissed when we decided to use picks on protecting our rookie qb. Anyone who has eyes and knows what American football is knows that a kicker is very important especially now and this guy is the best prospect in years…I could see some whining over a punter or kr but kickers score points every game unless there’s a shutout

  178. Brent bull/buc Says:

You guys who think lichts drafts are sooooo great are way to early. Last year looks good. 2 years ago starting to look average (only Simms Evans are legit for sure). Pamphile? This year woo! Looks sketchy to anybody other than homer buc fan on lol aid. We”ll I hope it works. but bad moves are bad you can’t ignore them.

  179. NashvilleBuc Says:

I dunno. I first I was kinda fired up but after looking at his stats…
    1) his accuracy has declined every year from 95% down to 80% last year.
    2) he was only 50% between 40-49 last year
    3) he was 1-3 beyond 50
    4) is longest successful FG was only 51 and his next highest was only 43
    Not really excited about that.

  180. Rswag Says:

Best cover corner, best pass rusher, best kicker? Haha give me a break, I loved the first 2 picks, hate that third, but you can’t come on here and say that yet. That’s not how reality works bro. Especially saying beat kicker for 20 years. Haha….. Clueless ….

  181. Brent bull/buc Says:

    He ain’t sh@((t!!

  182. BucFan20 Says:

If you don’t like it. To bad. He is a Buc and Licht is the GM not you. Your crying like little girls because you did not get your way.

  183. Rswag Says:

NashvilleBuc: finally someone willing to get real with it. Not worthy of this high a pick. It’ll be interesting to see the ratings on that pick for the bucs.

  184. WhatTheBucIsWrongWithYou Says:

Rayjay…haha hilarious “beat you with experience”

Rswag: if you’re going to insult someone, don’t make a fool of yourself by discussing something that has nothing to do with the topic. It shows a sign of weakness. Of course Winston would want the 6 pts, that’s a no brainier. Aguayo provides a comfort. It’s a team game. The xp was moved back, and he hasn’t missed an xp or inside 40yds. Take the L.

  185. JenaW Says:

LOVE THIS!! With all the changes to kicking rules the NFL has enacted a good kicker is essential. With Aguayo the Bucs go way beyond good to ‘the best’! (Aguayo was considered a lock to win his 2nd Groza award in 2014 & him NOT receiving it was highly questioned) Given the number of points left off the board due to Bucs kicking last year, how any of you think this is a bad pick is incomprehensible to me.

EVERY SINGLE NFL TEAM spoke with Aguayo. EVERY SINGLE NFL TEAM had an interest in. There was no way he was going to last much longer. Maybe teams might have waited until the early third round but the Bucs wanted (needed) him and made the move before someone else did. BWT – doesn’t anyone else see the similiarlity between the Bucs making this move and doing much the same last year to take Ali Marpet (horrors! Not even from a power 5 school!) having heard that other teams were interested in him?

Remember the screams last year about trading up for ‘a third division player’? Look what we got! With ‘Roboto’ Aguayo, we have a known quality. You can bet all you own that Jameis was doing a happy dance with this pick.

Also, Aguayo is a long time Bucs fan, wanted to play in Tampa and is pretty much a ‘local’.

    Go Bucs! Go NOLES!!!

  186. BuccaneEric75 Says:

It’s all about risk. 3rd round picks bust at a 70% clip. 4th rounders at a 80% clip. I get that we took him high and could have gotten other players, but some of you guys are acting like we traded HOF’ers for him. The draft is a crapshoot as it is. Why not take the player whose position is the easiest to translate to the NFL game. The percentages show that those picks we used will probably bust anyway. And the 4th we used to move up was the pick that we stole from the Bears due to them getting their BrownEyes OWNED by Licht.

  187. Rswag Says:

Crying like little girls? Last time I checked, we fans want a winning team.

  188. WhatTheBucIsWrongWithYou Says:

Lol haters be like “I knew we should’ve gotten tavon Austin or Tyler eifert instead of revis”…”why didn’t we draft keuchly!” Daily life for you guys must get pretty negative…”I can’t believe I live in a country where I have Internet and can complain on a website!”

  189. WhatTheBucIsWrongWithYou Says:

Yes like little girls? Or boys? He insinuated you are being a child and immature…

  190. BucFan20 Says:

    @Rswag
That is correct. Wanting a winning team is one thing. Crying over just about every move Licht makes because it is not in agreement with the armchair GM is foolish and childish. Let the man do his job and build the winning team!

  191. BuccanAy Says:

we drafted a goddamn kicker in the 2nd round and gave up a 3rd rd pick to do so…you …never mind…this area deserves this

  192. TpaBayFlyFisher Says:

You can argue as to whether to ever draft a PK in the third round, but he actually cost us only the “new” 4th rounder. Personally, I think that for average teams a great PK could mean 2 more wins a year.

  193. Rswag Says:

Haha, what? Try to keep up guy who is trying to sound tough by having a fake swear word in his name. Made my point very clear. Somebody put words in the mouth of Jameis and tried to make it sound like he would be ecstatic about having a safe 3 points. Get a clue bro, that’s weakness? A football relying on 3 points from a kicker is a sign of weakness. Remind me again how did relying on 3 points work out for this team last year when they needed it from a kicker early in the season? You don’t even have any proof that this guy can get it done when you can barely get close enough to to get within 40. You brag about how good he is close, but there is little evidence he can hit the big kick. Just so you know, you’re wasting time here trying to defend a kicker. Got that? A kicker. Not a qb or an actual player who has to get the ball to a position where the kicker can even have a role. Whatever tho

  194. Tdubbs Says:

Look.longer extra points AND new 25 yd line kickoff rule means we need an accurate high ball flight kicker, especially on kick offs, to keep teams inside 20 yd line…keep your fingers crossed and pray that licht is a genius, or did ALOT of homework on aguayo

  195. Rswag Says:

Bucfan20: crying over every move? Bro, I mentioned I love the first 2 picks. They’re great. But seriously, a kicker at the bottom of the second round? I’m sorry, I’m gonna go with I’m allowed to have an opinion here. Guys on here saying we basically used a 3rd or 4th to get him. I don’t care, we didn’t take him in those positions. We took him late 2nd where there would be far greater needs to address like oh maybe a pass rusher, wr, heck even a defensive tackle in the middle. I mean a kicker right there? Really, do you even live in reality?

  196. ndog Says:

So Rswag if/when this crappy pick wins us 2-3 games next year are going to come on here and say you were a moron for talking so much crap or will you just not show up?

  197. BuccaneEric75 Says:

We didn’t give up a 3rd, we used our 3rd on him with the Bears 4th to get him in round 2. It’s like the Bears trade never happened and we took him in the 3rd. Look at it that way. But everyone “knows” that Von Bell or any of those other guys will be difference makers. Draft pics aren’t guaranteed contributors. Calm down, armchair GM’s.

  198. iamkingsu Says:

i get it you’ll just like to overspend on everything. You’ll rather spend 7500 on a car when you can get it for 5500 but as long as you got it you’ll are just fine right.

  199. WhatTheBucIsWrongWithYou Says:

RSwag Lol quote “remind me of how relying on three points did for this team last year”…exactly why we got a kicker? Thanks? Stats are stats buddy, you want to point out the misses then I point out the makes. And again you literally must read whatever you want cuz I said he’s a comfort to Winston. But keep arguing with yourself cuz it’s entertaining everyone.

  200. BucFan20 Says:

    @Rswag
I did not say you did. You asked a question. A lot of the posters go way back to the Free Agency and have been crying. They were the same people last night and tonight. No matter what Licht does they will cry because they do not get what they want. Sorry. We do not run this team. We all want to win. Now let the MAN do his job. He is the GM. To disagree is one thing. But I stand by the rest of what I said.

  201. WhatTheBucIsWrongWithYou Says:

And for the record…it’s called a play on words. But swag is original…

  202. iamkingsu Says:

    @buc89
So his Intel said that marpet Kwon Alexander and now our kicker were all going to be gone?? Is that Intel or paranoia?? Nothing was wrong with the picks I just see a pattern. I mentioned this during last year’s draft also.

  203. iamkingsu Says:

I’m surprised he didn’t jump up for Spence because @joe for darn sure wanted him too.

  204. Richard Dickson Says:

If we’re relying on our kicker to make 50+ yard field goals all the time, then we have bigger problems than having drafted a kicker with what amounts to an early 3rd.

  205. BuccaneEric75 Says:

I’ve said this before. All these players are right now are names on a board. In 3 years we can look back and get our “I told you so’s” in. No one here, including me, knows if we made the right choice. And to all of the people who say that Janikowski was drafted too high because the Raiders never won a Super Bowl with him, would drafting someone else in that spot, that one player, really turned the team into contenders for the past 15 years? I don’t think so. And he went in the 1st round.

  206. iamkingsu Says:

Now they’re are laughing at us on nfl network smdh

  207. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Richard, I’ve said close to the same. My son said something about a DE’s slow 40 time. I told him if there is a play where the DE has to run 40 yards, we have bigger problems than a slow DE! Lol!

  208. tnew Says:

If anyone says we gave up a 3rd to make this pick they should be banned from JoeBucsFan.com forever. We gave up our 4th to exchange our 3rd for a second.

Being said, I loved our draft, without this pick. Would love to see Braxton Miller in the slot. The only player, I would’ve made this move for was Tyler Boyd and he was gone.

I hope he’s better than I think he is….. I just didn’t think Barth was that bad. I just hope Barth isn’t tweeting about kicks that he would have made in week 3.

  209. DavidbigBucsFan Says:

For the cry babies up here the 1st 2 picks are for keeping points off the board this one is for putting them on it. For the clown talking about putting our faith in a kicker, you got it twisted. We put our faith in Fameis, Koetter and the offense. The kicker is a back up plan when they don’t come through with tds. You guys have very little understanding how to build a team that’s why you work where you do and not a GM of an NFL franchise. I got one name for you Adam Vinatieri one of the greatest kickers of all time.

  210. Tick Says:

Jimbo always felt comfortable crossing the 50 because he knew he had 3 pts in the bank. We got our janakowski for the next 15 years. Go Bucs!!

  211. j$mac Says:

This is one of the top needs well addressed I might add. I’m in love with this clutch ass pick too

  212. Big Irish Says:

Outstanding pick! Best kicker in FSU history. Look at that impressive list of Seminole kickers that Roberto surpassed.

  213. Red86 Says:

I normally don’t advocate taking a kicker in the draft, but this guy had ice water in his veins. With the curse of wide rights and lefts that cause FSU to lose, he raised above pressure and made the kicks. I like it.
