Jason Licht Is Not Insecure

A man of confidence.

Sometimes, Joe does not understand the rank paranoia that surrounds some NFL types.

Take this nonsense about Miko Grimes, the colorful, flamboyant wife of new Bucs corner Brent Grimes.

Allegedly, there are three wet nurses posing as general manages who have all the balls of Principal McVicker, who shake in their seats at the thought of “distractions.” Word is these three empty suits who have their underwear bunched up in the crack of their arses are scared of Miko Grimes, thus, would never sign Pro Bowler Brent Grimes.

Of course, the three insecure suits would not identify themselves. Go figure.

Joe’s going to let his readers onto something: You know what the biggest distraction of them all is? Losing! Players are PO’ed, coaches are PO’ed, front offices are PO’ed, fans are enraged, players’ family members are harassed in public places, sports radio is berserk and more importantly, owners are ready to clean house.

There is no bigger distraction than losing. None.

For any general manager to claim he is scared of a talented player’s wife, therefore won’t sign the player is one of the biggest cons Joe has ever heard.

Miko doesn’t block. Miko doesn’t tackle. Miko doesn’t pass or run the ball. In fact, Joe’s willing to bet she has never put on a pair of shoulder pads or a helmet and stepped onto the field of play for any of her husband’s teams.

This is the same kind of nonsense you hear that NFL teams won’t sign Tim Tebow because he’s a distraction, but are willing to drop seven-figures on career losers like Stewart McClown. Stop it! Distractions are distractions if you let them be distractions. Focus on the task at hand.

It’s galling to Joe that many front office types will look the other way when players run afoul of the law whether it be DUIs, suspended licenses, weed or worse. You don’t hear any GM cry much if at all about that.

But a player’s wife is too much of a distraction because she uses social media? Give Joe a friggin’ break!

Joe is so, so glad Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht is not one of these spineless empty suits.

Joe can just imagine the scene of the three aforementioned scaredy cats when their coaches asked about signing Brent Grimes.

  2. DB55 Says:

Oh man, I have a feeling she’s gonna rag on a certain elite player more than I do. 😍

I just read Gil Garcia’s open letter to the Grimes, it’s worth a read.

  3. Howard Cosell Says:

    Nice rant, Joe.
Howard tends to agree for the most part, although maybe the contract should include a “Miko” clause.

Joe, she hits better than Mike Jenkins.

I don’t know JOE, you might live to regret this article… Did you read her Tweet about Tannehill ejaculating in little birds mouths (fans and press)… Sounds like a real classy lady!!

Don’t worry JOE, I’ll remind you that you wrote this and of coarse you’ll deny it. Saying “Why make stuff up?” I hope it works out, Grimmy is a solid corner. Joe should beware of being critical of Grimes or you might end up with that cheetah on YOUR back, like that poor dude from the Miami Herald..

    She’s not that good looking.

^^^^ Especially once she opens that mouth!

  11. bucsblud Says:

I agree, she is not good looking at all. But her attitude is perfect. My wife is very similar and I love it. I actually think we need her.

  12. Tiny Tim Says:

Yea I just love the birthday cake she posted for her husband’s 30th birthday. Very flamboyant indeed. I also like the fact the dolphins front office had to call in Brent to talk about her antics and comments numerous times. Definitely not a distraction for him. Its funny, the great Derrick Brooks says anytime you are answering questions and devoting time to something that has nothing to do with Sunday’s game, then its a distraction. WHat does he know? He is only a first ballot hall of famer. The joes say its not a distraction. Who do you believe?

    Wow….for you to this:

U are just as misleading as Lovie Smith during mid week press conferences…the Woman is attractive. Would I vote for her on Ms. America, probaby not but don’t sit here and say this female is ugly. C’mon man!

  14. The Real Malloy Says:

    Yeah, what David said bucsblud…..

Plus, he pretty much said his wife wasn’t attractive on social media…..

    yikes

Obviously we won’t have any crazy QB rants from her while Brent is with the Bucs. Winston is way better than Tannehill. The dolphins are a sad sack of a franchise these days. Not that the Bucs are doing all that well lately either. But things are looking up for the Bucs. We have a GM that seems to be doing things the right way. And hopefully we have the right coaches in place to help push this franchise to the next level.

She is a super fan of her husband. I don’t blame her one bit for that. And I don’t blame her for being who she is. It is her right to voice her opinions. If things do get out of hand though, then we simply wash our hands of Brent and his wife and say we tried our best.

I don’t blame the Dolphins for cutting grimes. The things she said about Tannehill, although hilarious and accurate, are well beyond the line of simply criticizing a team or player. Luckily it took 3 years for that frustration to build up. We signed Brent to 2 years. We’ll be out in time before the bomb goes off.
