Charles Johnson Visits One Buc!

March 8th, 2016
charles johnson

Free agent target is in town.

A very, very, very interesting alert Joe just received from the official Bucs app on Joe’s Android phone minutes ago:

Free agent and currently unemployed defensive end Charles Johnson is at One Buc Palace!

Or is it past-tense?

In the alert, typed by multimedia maven Scott Smith of Buccaneers.com, Smith typed Johnson “got a look” at the facility. Presumably, he also met with Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht?

Joe could be dead wrong here, but Joe never remembered getting an app alert from the Bucs of a free agent visiting One Buc Palace. The last time Joe remembers getting such an alert was when America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, first stepped foot into One Buc Palace prior to the draft.

Mike Smith is in the building too so hopefully he got to work his magic on him

  2. Rrsrq Says:

Hope I’m wrong, yawn, vet presence is good if we drafting a DE in the draft, I want to see this team grow together, not a piece for a year or two unless we talking Julius Peppers type

  3. Bucfan951 Says:

Will he be flying commercial or in the glazers private jet?

  4. 1Gr8Buc Says:

Joe, what I found interesting was the last sentence in the alert. Keep an eye for any updates throughout the day. Kind of like they were teasing something may be breaking. Hopefully its not the news you reported about the WR.

  5. Dabe Says:

I think Doug And Charles will be anounced today.

  6. biff barker Says:

Cant wait to see the new Cam Slam in Pewter.

  7. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

@dallas( don’t worry folks we gone get one of these DEs)And another thing when I say”just wait on it” I’m talkin to real Buccs fans not imposters like ya self. I’m speaking to those who can clearly see the type of talent being attracted to this team that will make them bonafide contenders here shortly. Don’t care about how many practices or games you attend I can smell imposter from mile away.

  8. biff barker Says:

Interesting news about the G Men only offering JPP a one year deal.

  9. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

1 buc sure might be more enticing with that brand new indoor practice facility….the UF Gators popped one up in 6 months the bucs have not broken ground….the bucs need to loose their crappy uniforms and start being a first rate organization with the best for its players, coaches and fans

  10. MarineBucsFan Says:

Yes!!! This is the news i have been waiting for, I hope we sign this guy.

  11. MarineBucsFan Says:

It is my opinion that this would be a nice signing. Even better if he and Doug are signed before the official start of free agency so we could put the full court blitz on another player. Would make that player feel like he is our priority. Besides we would be a much more attractive team to play for with those two players in place. Im just saying…..

  12. TheShaz Says:

OK – when a NFL player gets to free agency, do all of their last names become “Johnson”? Are we really going to try another Free Agent named Johnson on the DL?

  13. MarineBucsFan Says:

I just realize i said “full court blitz”….haha. Im sure the grammar and writing police will enjoy that mistake.

  14. Hawaiian Buc Says:

I’m good with this signing, but it better not stop here when it comes to DE’s. We need one more, plus a high draft pick. No more playing around at this position. You cannot win consistently in this league when you have zero pass rush, or even an inconsistent pass rush.

  15. MarineBucsFan Says:

This guy is nothing like the previous Johnson’s though???

  16. DallasBuc Says:

NosBos- lecture a little more to me about “real Buccs fans” that you claim? And why would these so-called real fans care what you have to say after you tirelessly defended incompetent Lovie Smith in the face of abject failure for so long? Maybe it’s because being a real fan in your eyes is blindly accepting the poor professional performance of whoever the Glazers hire to run this team. Please continue your lecture tho. You’re wisdom is awfully entertaining!
Can you define imposter and in any way articulate how that word relates to me?

  17. Tom Edrington Says:

    Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwn..

  18. DallasBuc Says:

Charles Johnson would be a nice pickup. Hard to do worse than the last Johnson’s lapdog Licht signed. Third time’s the charm hopefully.

  19. DallasBuc Says:

Charles Johnson would be a nice pickup. Hard to do worse than the last two Johnsons lapdog Licht signed. Third time’s the charm hopefully.

  20. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

I’ll refrain from wasting anymore energy wit you guy.

  21. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Charles Johnson is on my wishlist because he and Mario are so close in skill level and production over the last 6 years.

    The biggest difference? Age.

Marios MIGHT give us 2 years.

Johnson might give us 4 or more.

And Johnson’s injury is not a concern, because he returned for the post season and produced 3 sacks.

    My wishlist

  22. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Real fans don’t troll. So if you are not trolling, you are safe.

  23. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

And since you ask for one my defintion for imposter is a fake a phony a pretender. Someone that convinces people they are one thing in truth they are something else. Like I said on the other article yoy fit the bil homie.

  24. GhostofSchiano Says:

JOE. Reading reports that the Dolphins are the front runber to sign Mario Williams, if thats true I hope licht gets this done but i would like to see another DE FA sighning. 2 DE upgrades would be a very welcome occurrence.

  25. Lord Says:

I think I may like him most of all the DEs we can sign. He looked good in the playoffs still once over injury and 30 is not a bad age for elite DEs as evidenced by guys like Demarvus Ware and Julius Peppers. Hell Mario Williams was like 30 when he dominated in the 4-3 before last year

  26. DallasBuc Says:

NosBos- This use of imposter more of your unsubstantiated insight into people you do not know? Reminds me of your shameful race whoring over the incompetent professional performance of your LovieDaddy.
You have yet to tie me to that word. As usual, can’t back up sht.

  27. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    @DallasBuc

I remember when you first arrived on the scene here. You were a good, respectful commenter.

Now, all you spew is hateful words. Now, I realize pointing this out will only cause you to direct them toward me, but…big surprise…it doesn’t matter. Won’t phase me a bit because I’m secure in the knowledge that I’m better than you.

    Nanner Nanner.

  28. biff barker Says:

Hawaiian, agree, signing one solid FA DE is but one finger in the dyke. It does take the pressure off the first pick though and may enable us to trade back.

  29. feelthepewterpower Says:

I can count on a couple of fingers the number of free agents over 30 that have made a huge impact on the Buccs.

  30. MadMax Says:

Alright, 3rd times a charm….3rd Johnson, and draft a 3rd DE from Clemson, Dodd or Lawson. Cant believe Im saying that but yeah, just feeling it. Come on Bucs do it! Hopefully Dougie is back too but if not, then Im afraid we’ll have to spend that 9th pick on Elliot….then move back into the 1st for Dodd.

  31. biff barker Says:

    Plucked this off twitter…

“From 2010-14, only four players recorded more sacks than the former third-round pick out of Georgia: DeMarcus Ware, Jared Allen, Cameron Wake and J.J. Watt.”

    Pretty impressive company!

  32. MadMax Says:

    Nice find biff!

  33. DallasBuc Says:

Bonzai- pretty sure I’ve been around JBF longer than you. And when have you ever not disagreed with me?
Look, if there weren’t things to be unhappy about concerning this team then the negativity from this fan would be replaced with abashed positivity. But I have not only had to endure the incompetence of Lovie Smith and his lapdog GM but I also had to fight all of you do-no-wrong-Lovie deniers whistling past the graveyard for the last two years.
Why don’t you worry about you and keep me and my motivations off your fingertips if you don’t like what I have to say.

  34. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

You are imposter because since I’ve discovered this site I haven’t seen one positive post come from you number 1 number2 when this team wins a game you’re no where to be found but when they lose agame you’re often first in line to me my friend that an imposter.

  35. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

And no worries Bonzai about any heat he may throw. He mention he going no where, that makes two of us homie. I’ll always be here to go head up wit ya trust and believe.

  36. DallasBuc Says:

NosBos- should I be negative when we win? This would somehow make me less of an “imposter” to you?
    Try again NosBos!!

  37. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

I love it dallas you take the bait everytime homie😉..

  38. DallasBuc Says:

NosBos- when we have won ball games, rare as it was under incompetent Lovie Smith, I went out of my way to give credit where it was due. You of course conveniently do not remember this because it doesn’t fit your uninformed opinion of this anonymous commenter.

  39. DallasBuc Says:

    Every time!

  40. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

You good wit me Dallas, I’m just anal like dat. I’m far from a bully but I do posses a little bit chit start if you what I mean.

  41. MadMax Says:

Thats the real Dallas, not someone pretending to be him. I can tell by the attitude (meaning that respectfully Dallas).

  42. MadMax Says:

Ya’ll have fun, Im out. 3rd shift work tonight.

  43. LifeOfABucFan Says:

    Take care @ MadMax

  44. BUC IT Says:

Would be a good signing for us…. also high on my wish list. He will even have a chip on his shoulder that Carolina cut him. This is good if he can stay healthy. Then we draft Buckner or Bosa!

  45. LifeOfABucFan Says:

    Check out his twitter account..and it’s EPIC..lol…

Looks like he’s still in Tampa…I think we got him..I am hoping..
