Bucs Court A Free Agent Cornerback

February 18th, 2016

McCain

The Bucs haven’t cut any cornerbacks yet, but other teams have, and one will be at One Buc Palace today, so claims a Hall of Fame Voter.

Joe’s referring to Jason Cole of BleacherReport.com, who Twittered this morning that journeyman cornerback Brice McCain is visiting the Bucs following getting cut by the Dolphins last week.

McCain, 29,was a sixth-round pick of the Texans in 2009. After five years in Houston, he bounced to the Steelers in 2014, and made nine starts and had three picks for the Steelers. That earned him a free agent payday with Miami, where he made 10 starts last year.

Joe can’t comment intelligently on McCain’s game, but he’s got plenty of experience, and it’s interesting that he’s played in a load of 3-4 defenses.

Doubt that he will sign, don’t see why. There is one free agent corner I would like to see them, pursue and that is former giants CB Prince amukawmara(think that’s spelled right) he could come right in and start but he will probably demand top dollar and we would have to release one of our starter prob. Don’t think hunk it will happen but he would look good in pewter & Red.

Don’t think **that** it would happen

In 5 years, Amukamara has only played one full season and has 7 total INTs. He has been a quality player when on the field, but health has been his big issue. Amukamara has missed 13 games over the past two seasons due to bicep and pectoral tears.

Hopefully we draft VH3 instead. Sign O.Vernon and draft a DE in the 2nd 3rd or 4th. The draft is loaded with DE’s. It’s gonna be interesting to see what they do at the CB position. Will they resign Sterling Moore? It’s said that Verner and Banks will get a clean slate with the new coaching staff so someone’s gonna be the odd man out if we draft a corner. Banks will be our #2 corner I think. Who knows what there gonna do, Only coach Smith does I guess.

I bet they are bringing him in the gather information on a certain DE and his situation. It keeps them from tampering.

    @bucs4life86

If they keep Verner and Banks (which I think they will), then don’t expect them to take a CB in round one. Laters perhaps.

I think it will play out more like this:

Rd 1 DE, Rd 2 OT, Rd 3 DE (unless we sign a DE Vet) or CB, Rd 4 CB or WR, Rd 5 OG

  7. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

They might even skip OT this year and put it off until next year…and go for OG to get an heir to Mankins.

  8. Espo Says:

Leonard Johnson just got released by the Pats. I think his career might be done.

The year we signed revis I wanted brent grimes. Solid corner better value. But we got revis rehabed him then let him go. No to this guy

  10. 813bucboi Says:

they could be bringing him in and telling him a can be the starting FS…decent player at cb but I think he could be really good at FS…GO BUCS!!!
