  1. Buc Neckid Says:

Still don’t know who his Defensive Coordinator is
so i am a BIG Maybe

  2. WalkdaPlank Says:

    Koetter or Gruden.

  3. Clodhopper Says:

I can’t decide. He has so many pros and just a few cons but I just can’t make up my mind. Two weeks ago it would’ve been YES!. But today it’s maybe

  4. tdtb2015 Says:

Lets get to the playoffs first. This poll is as good as predicting next years wins and losses…

  5. Ray Heinly Says:

Yes only based on who we know they’ve interview to date.

  6. University of Seffner Says:

At this point, Gruden is the guy for last resort. As much as the Seffner Trailer Trash wants him here, Koetter is the guy to go for continuity.

  7. Brad Says:

I like Koetter, but there is no way he should be #1 on anyone’s list, including the Bucs. #5 offense is a load of crap. You can skew the stats anyway u want to. I know, #5 in total yards. This is the same offense that went into the Saints game and was going to exert our will to run the ball, while everyone else in the whole league threw on them at will. Did you see the Rams try to pound the ball against us? NO, they took advantage of our weakness like any good offensive coach will do. In Koetter’s defense, maybe it was because of Lovie we would start some halves playing caveman ball with 7 runs in a row. There shouldn’t be any rush to sign Koetter now. He can only leave for a promotion. All of the other good coaches are in college or still coaching. Now that SF went with Kelly we should wait this one out for a while and interview the guys in the playoffs still. I’m still holding out slight hope that they’re trying to woo Saban.

  8. D-Rome Says:

I voted no. I have nothing to base how Koetter will perform as a head coach. I’m not sure why anyone would vote yes.

  9. OnlyGodnoles Says:

Can’t an OC go get a number plate without people thinking he is going to be the HC, I live in a twilight zone I really do!

Chip has gone to the 49ers there goes that narrative the 49ers were impressed with Dirk!

Now let’s look it at another way, wouldn’t the bucs look like they don’t know what they are doing if they select Dirk after he has interviewed with other teams and not get hired? Why do people think he should automatically be promoted to HC after one season. If Dirk was the man all along why wait for him to interview elsewhere only for him to be rejected and then come back to the bucs to be hired??? When did the bucs become brides maid? Again where is the logic? And why would lovie hire dirk in the first place if he felt he was likely going to take his job at the end of the season even if the Glazers are unpredictable?

We need to fix the whys of my questions then maybe we can who see who the bucs are going to hire to be there next HC!

  10. The Buc Realist Says:

I voted maybe, just not enough information to say yes or no!! maybe once hired and full staff is listed.

  11. tdtb2015 Says:

Only Koetter will allow Bucs fans to remain sane at this point.

I think the drum roll guy at One Bucs Palace has fallen as sleep waiting…

  12. tdtb2015 Says:

If Koetter is not hired, Joe should change the stadiums name to The Den of Madness…

  13. Defense Rules Says:

A definite MAYBE on this one Joe. Love Dirk as an OC, and especially the work he’s done with Jameis this year. But if he gets selected as HC, how much of that will continue?

As HC, he couldn’t possibly spend as much time with Jameis, even if he’s dual-hatted as the HC & OC. So now he’d most likely be in the position of needing to hire a DC and an OC.

Something just doesn’t feel right here. Never been a big fan of HCs who also served as either the team’s OC (as Jon Gruden did) or as DC (as Lovie did). Chucky pulled it off in 2002 only because he inherited Monte Kiffin and one of the best defenses EVER. Chucky didn’t mess with the defense from what I remember seeing (for good reason). My guess is that Lovie probably didn’t mess with Dirk’s offense too much, but he sure did mess with the defense … unsuccessfully unfortunately.

  14. Dreambig Says:

Had to vote maybe. I’ll have to leave this up to Jason Licht to pick the best guy. I have questions about Koetters leadership with the players. Yes he did a great job with Winston and shoring up the Oline but there were chronic problems through out the year with player discipline on the offensive side of the ball that were never addressed. Lets look at Mike Evan’s behavior. He mouthed off at officials all year long and not only did a coach not get in his face and make him knock it off, he finished off his crowning achievement by getting ejected from the last game. What action did anyone on the offensive coaching staff do to bring this idiot under control? Evans had 30 yards of unsportsman like conduct in one series against the Saints. Switching to the offensive line, in one series this year during a long drive, almost every member of the oline was penalized for jumping offsides or holding. Jameis kept saving them with great plays and they kept backing us up 10 yards. It ended up taking points off the board and we ended up with 3 pts instead of 7. That crap continued all year long. If I was Licht, I would want to know Koetter has what it takes to teach and maintain player discipline because that is how you beat other winning teams. If we pick him I am all on board, but it shouldn’t be a gimmie, he should be the best guy for the job.

  15. Elle Says:

I voted yes because it just makes perfect sense, even though I’m not completely sure he’ll end up being hired, and I wouldn’t mind someone else as well. Someone who can come here, command the respect of the locker room from the get go and steer the ship in the right direction. In other words, someone who isn’t directly chosen by the Glazers. As for Koetter, he has worked within the team for a year already, he knows the main protagonists, their strengths and their limits, and he has promptly proved that he can make an impact in a short period of time unlike Lovie Smith and his tiresome “we’ll get better, we’re on the verge” bulls***.

  16. BuccaneEric75 Says:

I still think that Licht will hire a defensive coach and Koetter will remain the OC. We’ll see.

  17. SteveK Says:

    Maybe

I am curious about the status of the Patriots Coordinators.

Will Koetter get Schwartz to run his defense? If so, sign me up.

  18. Buc-Up Says:

There shoyld be a fourth option: Will he do better than Lovie would have?

  19. Espo Says:

I will forever vote maybe for any coaching candidate because I thought Lovie was the man. Plus, Dirk has no resume on that level.

  20. Mike Johnson Says:

IF…our Bucs are smart, we will keep Koetter as OC where he is very comfortable and select a Defensive minded coach. Sure Koetter will take the job. But he’s said a million times he’s comfortable and happy being the OC. Buc reporters, sports Journalist have sold Buc fans on Koetter as HC. But this will be quite a transition for him. And in 2 yrs? You judas Priest Fans will be calling for his head too!

  21. Bucs Fan Since '76 Says:

Who are the current successful HC’s that were former OC’s?

    Same question as to DC’s?

  22. ATLBucsFan Says:

I voted maybe. Can’t predict who will take them to the Super Bowl. The HC may get them to the playoffs but advancing to the SB may take return visits before the coaching staff gets what it takes to make it to the SB. They have a learning curve too.

  23. MT Tom Says:

Like the president of the US. It’s all about the people he hires. Who will the OC be? Just because Koetter is the former OC doesn’t mean he will be available to do hands on with Jameis. Who will the DC be? It could be a mess. Who is Koetter likely to rely on?

  24. Jeagan1999 Says:

YES….with the right staff around him! Look, we saw something from the offense this year, that we haven’t seen in a while….an ability to move the ball downfield and score points! Over 4,000 yds for rookie Winston…who should continue to get better with Koetter overseeing his development….a strong running game…despite a suspect Offensive line at times. We even had our fair share of injuries to our WR core….and yet this squad showed some real progress in moving the ball! HIRE KOETTER (unless Gruden is waiting in the wings), get the best staff money can buy around him, concentrate on O-line and DE in free agency, trade out of the #9 spot in the draft to get more picks (unless you can move up to get Bosa), instill a sense of discipline and cut out all the freakin penalties….and watch this team continue to improve!

  25. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I voted Maybe…..because I would have voted maybe to Chucky and he did……the law of averages says that every coach should be a maybe…..
There are too many variables involved….

I really appreciate the yes votes…they are votes of confidence that Koetter will need out of the gate.

Look at this way, he’s off to a good start…he’s got the Buc’s vanity license plates.

  26. St.pete 77 Says:

Can everyone, get it through there thick F~CK head Gruden is not coming BACK!!
    Get over it…

  27. OnlyGodnoles Says:

Rick Stroud does come up with some theories how does he make it through the day without his head exploding?????

Rick Stroud ‏@NFLSTROUD 3h3 hours ago
If Koetter isn’t hired by the weekend by the #Bucs, it means they have an interest in an assistant involved in the playoffs.

Wasn’t he involved analysing GMC’s mind regarding his relationship with #3?

  28. RealityCheck Says:

    Schefter just said it’s Dirk.

  29. Vincente Says:

As of last night I was on48 hour watch. Looks like they will make it official tonight.

  30. Sapp, STFU Says:

The 49ers have taken their next step toward futility. This leaves Shanahan, Coughlin and Saban still in the realm of possibility (to varying extent.)

  31. Clodhopper Says:

I change my vote to yes!!

  32. Newbucsfan2 Says:

ESPN Adam Schaefer just announced the Bucs are naming DK as HC!

  33. BucFanForever Says:

He better be the answer. #Winning2016

  34. ToesOnTheLine! Says:

I voted maybe, but from the sound of it we’re going to be finding out very soon if Dirk can do it.

  35. Newbucsfan2 Says:

    Bet JW is relieved:)

  36. Buc1987 Says:

    Maybe

  37. cmurda Says:

NFL.com is saying Dirk has been promoted to Head Coach and the deal will be finalized soon. I’m glad to see this. I will be able to rest easy soon.

  38. ShutTheBucUp Says:

Don’t matter now it’s his team

  39. Bucs fan in NC Says:

    It’s Dirk! Finally….

  40. buccfan305 Says:

Well folks….its official according to NFL Network. Dirk is our guy …..hope Dirk knows what he’s doing….

    GO BUCS!!

  41. ATrain Says:

How did Matt Ryan and Atlanta do when he was there?

    How does Atlanta look now?

Rookie QB with 4000 yrds with the a hurt VJax, under drafted WR, Harvard TE and a dropping every other pass Evans.. Imagine how many yards Winston would have had if Evans caught the passes that hit him in the hands.

Two rookie OL one being LT…

    Really y’all QUESTION Koetter..

All under the watch of Lovie…He deserves a HC job and a medal

  42. BuccaneEric75 Says:

I guess I was wrong about Koetter! Lol!

  43. Silent_Partner Says:

No. Just ride it out Jameis and hope Tampa doesn’t turn on you during the upcoming unsuccessful Dirk Koetter era. Mediocre major conference HC fails 100% of the time later as NFL HC. That’s what history says, not me.

  44. ATrain Says:

Be a Fan give the man a chance..

Damn Lovie got beat by a Rookie QB first game and y’all stay with his DEFENSIVE Mind….
