Derek Carr Talks Jameis, 2014 Bucs Draft

January 28th, 2016

JoeBucsFan.com is live at the Pro Bowl exploring all things Bucs.

Did you really expect Joe to be at the Senior Bowl when five Tampa Bay players are in Hawaii eating pineapple?

In the exclusive JoeBucsFan.com video below, second-year Raiders quarterback Derek Carr offers advice to Jameis Winston, shares memories of Jeff Tedford, and of his pre-draft dealings with Bucs, and much more.

Enjoy.

Derek Carr should be bowing at Jameis thrown and making sure there is a rose pedal where ever Jameis steps

Personally, I hope Derek Carr and Winston both make it to the same Superbowl. How sweet would it be to beat them in another one?

    Oh, the irony!

As to Pro Bowl vs Senior Bowl?

Senior Bowl wins. At least it is a real game.

    Worth quoting…

I really liked Derek Carr and in the 2014 draft he was my top QB, really wanted the bucs to trade up for him. His is going to have a very successful career.

That being said I didnt know the glories of Jameis. Let’s just say I am happy the way it all turned out.

And hey like Bonzai said. I would love to face Derek and the Raiders in the Superbowl. Wouldnt that be something.

I love where we are with Jameis, but Jolly, I was with you. I wanted to see what Glennon had but Carr was my hope as well for 2014 in the 2nd round. Being said, I didn’t see either of the two of their progression to be as good as it is.

Facing Carr in the Super Bowl…repeat of Bucs versus Raiders would certainly be cool…but let’s face it…the Super Bowl matchup we really want to see is the Bucs versus the Tennessee Titans. The QB hype for that would reach levels of hysteria!

Carr seems like a good young guy. Also a very good young QB. He and Jameis will have some memorable match ups in the future, I’m sure!

I remember pining for the Bucs to pick Carr during the draft, back when the Bucs needed a top-shelf QB. Living out here in SoCal, of course I have a lot of friends that are die hard Raider fans, especially one of my best bud’s Dave who annually puts on one of the best Super Bowl parties around with smoked meats, lots of fixings and gallons of drinkings too, the best place to be in town for 6 years running now.

I’ve been telling Dave since that draft day “you’re going to love Carr as your QB” all the time wishing the Bucs had gotten him instead. Of course noe we’ve got Jameis and I pined for him too as yet another draft year approached, with the Bucs desperately needing a QB leader. With Evans hopefully learning how to catch BEFORE taking his eyes off the ball, Bucs should be rolling on offense for years to come, so it’s turned out for the best. So here we are and both of these fine young QBs are first time Pro Bowlers, congrats to them both.

I bleed pewter and red and always will, but believe me when I say that Carr has been a pleasure to watch and he’s a QB who’s “got it”, period. With a little bit of luck needed for both teams filling holes on their respective rosters, a rilvary of the Bucs vs. Raiders may soon be must see SuperBowl TV, with promo commercials showing a Buccaneers’ Man-O-War led by Captain Jameis shouting out, “Batten down the hatches!!” as his mates are loading the cannons taking dead aim at a silver and black pirate ship nearly scuttled already and taking on water…..

Aaaahhh, that would make those slow-smoked ribs and tri-tip roasts taste that much better too, one Buccaneer fan raising the flag over a bunch of Raider seadogs drowning in their tears…..Go Bucs!
