  1. destro44 Says:

I figure the offense looks pretty good and improving. We need to fix the defense. I think Lovie can at least help with that. If we were good on defense and our offense was as bad as our defense I would have no confidence at all

  2. John McKillop Says:

Lovie and Jason Licht have this team pointed in the right direction. We have very little talent on defense this will be addressed in the next two drafts and free agency, Mario Williams could be a very nice fit, back in a 4-3 defense. A few more pieces on offense for Jameis and this team will be very solid.I think Lovie and Licht will get it done!

  3. The Buc Realist Says:

I think many here do not realize how soft the schedule has been this year! I would not be surprised that the Bucs are playing in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl!!!!

Next there will be some real teams that the Bucs will have to face, We will then get to see where the Bucs really are then!!!!

  4. Clodhopper Says:

Two weeks ago I voted little confidence with the caveat it could go up or down depending on how I felt about the defense. It got torched by a no name. Again. So I went down to no confidence. Sorry, Lovie. You’re a defensive coach with a bush league defense. Get your head out of your arse. I dont care about the lack of talent excuse or the youth excuse. Fact is, no defense gets their heads kicked in by talent-less second string QB’s so consistently like yours. Regardless of age or talent. There is no excuse

  5. Buccfan37 Says:

Confident is too strong a word to reflect reality. I’ve read all the comments pro and con Lovie. Most fans are patient and see progress, then regress takes hold, WTF! Hurry up and wait.

  6. The Buc Realist Says:

I keep asking the sheep, but like usual they have no answers, But I will ask again! If Lovie is here next year, How many Hall of Famers players and pro-bowlers does he need to run his defense???

  7. bucrightoff Says:

Still 60% or so with little or no confidence. Wonder how high that number gets if they lose out. Either way Lovie has no rope next year, if they’re sitting at 1-3 or 0-4 after the first month next year I suspect he gets fired in season.

  8. BuccaneEric75 Says:

I usually think that the Realist is way too negative, but he’s right on next years schedule being a hard one. Home games against St.Louis, Seattle, Denver, Oakland, and Road games against Arizona, SanFran, KC and SanDiego. We also play the teams that finish in the same spot as us in the NFC East and North. Hard to predict from this far out, but I think winning 7 or 8 games against that schedule would be a sign of improvement over this season. Sadly, that would also mean no playoffs.

  9. The Buc Realist Says:

    @BuccaneEric75

could very well be Detroit, and Dallas!!!!

  10. bucrightoff Says:

Yeah looking at next years schedule they could theoretically improve on the field, maybe even by a good amount, and still have a worse record than this year. It’s why Lovie has dug himself a very big hole, this should have been at least a 9 win season with the schedule. Certainly any average coach has us at 9 wins this year.

  11. Buc1987 Says:

Little confidence last week to little confidence this week.

Realist these HAVE to be your favorite threads of all time…I bet your eyes light up like a Christmas tree when you click on the page and see the poll is up again.

  12. Buc1987 Says:

Oh and baaa baaa baaa lol

  13. The Buc Realist Says:

I do love the confidence polls, I mean its no Pirate ship sinking at RJS when the Bucs lose…

Jameis says: ” Buc Realist, why do you like the Confidence Polls so much???”

The Buc Realist says: ” Cause I like to keep my sheep accounted for!!! “

  14. WalkdaPlank Says:

Very close, but still confident. The offense went from 32nd in the league last year to 7th this year. You can thank Jameis, Koetter, Marpet, Smith, and Hawley for that (as well as Doug’s breakout season). Who brought all those guys in (aside from Martin)? Lovie Smith. I’m not a huge fan of the guy, but I have actually been able to watch the Bucs this season and be entertained.

However the other side of the ball is where this all gets bad. Lovie is a defensive guy, and the defense is rotten. Sure, the run defense is not bad but what good does that do when guys like Kirk Cousins, Matt Hasselbeck, Ryan Mallet, Case Keenum, and Derek Anderson (TWICE!) look like HoF’ers against your pass defense. What does Leslie Frazier even do on this team? There is some serious work to do but at least we have guys like Kwon Alexander, Sterling Moore, GMC, and LVD to move forward with.

A poor showing these next two weeks, failure to bring back Doug Martin or VJax, failure to discipline the most undisciplined team in the league, or even attempt to address the swiss cheese sized holes in this defense will drop my rating to no confidence.

  15. ATrain Says:

I love the patience some fans have with Lovie who has the worst record out of the last three coaches.

No patience with Schiano and he had new players, Raheem Team, PILLHEAD QB and MRSA…oh and had a much harder schedule.

BUT PLEASE tell me what Lovie has done to deserve patience .
Losing teams , Destroyed first game by a Rookie QB. Won a few and back to the same Bucs now with two games left

  16. RustyRhinos Says:

Little Confidence , When can we depend on our Defense to get us off the field on 3rd down, 3rd and long, 3rd and short, 3rd and medium almost feel like we can’t stop the opposing teams ever. Only when we stop the other team on 3rd down can we get the ball back, unless they do not respect our defense and go for it on 4th down, and why not it is not like we have a fantastic record on 3rd down anyway. Why is it our DB’s always appear to be 7-10 yards away from the receiver on nearly every play, no matter down and distance. We have little to no pass rush every game, sure we get a few sacks now and again but never when we really need it like 3rd down. Is it not or could it be our Defense game planing is just not that good? Game after game after game? Who is in charge again?

I feel like our offense is moving in the right direction, good QB, growing Oline, okay WR’s, TE’s need improvement Brate is getting better. We FINALLY have a legitimate OC crossing my fingers we can keep him long term.

  17. Samiam Says:

You can’t fire him unless you know you can get someone better. We’ve swapped out coaches far too often with little to no quality difference between them. Since Chucky it’s all bee retreads that haven’t really done a thing.

  18. RustyRhinos Says:

    Good stable of RB’s

  19. SteveK Says:

The Buc Realist says: ” Cause I like to keep my sheep accounted for!!! “

That was absolutely hilarious, thanks Buc Realist. Love your point of view and the ability to still love this team without being blindly devoted like a sheep.

  20. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Realist, yea, I saw the Detroit and Dallas possibility also.

  21. HIRE JIMBO Says:

    FIRE LOVIE HIRE JIMBO

  22. Dreambig Says:

Well here’s the thing, and there really is no getting around this … Starting with the Titans and finishing with the last two weeks, when it was the most important, the team was not mentally in the right place to compete. Add a near NFL record for penalties, last years 2 win season, the horrible free agent misses, you have to be a fairly blind Optimus to rate Lovie with much confidence.

  23. 813bucboi Says:

totally confident…this team looks way better than last year and with a good draft and good FA we will be in good shape….sure the schedule next year may look tough but games aren’t played on paper…some of those teams may take a step back…imo I think we have a chance to win at least 10 games and make the playoffs with the right additions thru the draft and FA…GO BUCS!!!

  24. Jason Says:

Someone will do wonders with this group of kids, but it won’t be Lovie
