McCoy speaks

Gerald McCoy and the giant scar on his left hand were back on the One Buc Palace practice fields today on what officially was a “limited” basis, per the team injury report.

McCoy, who missed last week’s game and won’t describe the procedure performed on his hand last week, talked about it after being on the field today.

He joined a team that has transformed.

“It felt great to be back out there,” McCoy told the Buccaneers Radio Network. “Very different feel out there now, and when I say that I mean guys know what’s on the line. And you can sense that in practice in how guys are practicing. It’s not an uptight feeling, but it’s a sense of urgency. More so than it has been because this is an opportunity that’s, I mean it’s almost like it’s ours to lose. And we understand that.”

Will McCoy play Sunday? Joe is skeptical, but it would great if McCoy could wrap up that big mitt and explode off the ball on a limited basis, especially in pass rush situations.

I’m sick of this injury cloak and dagger. Some responsible journalist better be writing all these down and get some answers in the off season.

Anyone comes on here and badmouths GMC, they can stick it where the sun does not want to shine! PERIOD! He was on the sidelines Sunday, and got as pumped up as I did. Cripes, I’m in Orlando listening on radio. Go Mighty Bucs and GMC whether he plays or not!!!!!

    Love McCoy!

Glad other players got a chance to step up and fill in for him. Maybe they matured a little in that moment. Now reunited, the group is stronger than ever.

    GOOOOOOOO BUCS!!!!!!!!!!

I certainly sense and share your frustration but football coaches are football coaches. They are trying to get the Saints to game plan for GMC whether he plays or not. If they announce he won’t play then that’s time freed up to game plan for our other players.

Others here will know more than me…especially if we have any true gamblers but the NFL also has some pretty specific protocols on what teams are MANDATED to release in terms of injuries. IE…Whether GMC plays or not is information that could actually move a line if he’s deemed important enough.
I guarantee you that if we announced #3 was injured and MG8 would start the line would absolutely move! Because gambing on pro football is so huge the league wants to make sure nobody gets inside information and that everybody has the same chance of knowing who is playing who is not.

Kind of like the rules the Stock Market has on transparency to avoid insider trading. Of course those rules do not work and neither do the NFL’s. LOL

I thought maybe the surgery was to implant the new experimental “let’s occasionally dominate the line of scrimmage” capability…

  7. Pick6 Says:

yep, because it’s possible to average 2 sacks every 3 games for the last 3 years or so without occasionally dominating the line of scrimmage. i guess gerald is SUCH a nice guy and SO soft that opponents give him pity sacks in exchange for helping offensive players up off the ground. i just don’t get how some folks process information

  8. tnew Says:

I’ve been critical of GMC, so I’m here, but I hope he plays more than anyone. Team is better with him on the field. That being said, if he needs another week to get right, he should take it. We need him for the PLAYOFFS!

  9. Rojas Says:

Just read somewhere some veteran DE’s might be cut like, Mario Williams, Charles Johnson, Cameron Wake.

  10. 813bucboi Says:

I may have also been a little too harsh on gmc but its only because I see the potential…I hope he plays because we are a better defense with himon the field…with that being said..players stepped up last week in his absence and it would be nice if they had a repeat performance to give gmc the proper time to heal….GO BUCS!!!
