“Tampa Is Like A Weird Team, Man.”

November 5th, 2015

BoomerPlaying the Giants means big time attention for your Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Big Apple.

Boomer Esiason weighs in on the game with co-host Craig Carton on WFAN-AM, Gotham’s sports radio giant, via the CBS video snippet below.

You’ll note Esiason seems surprised Jameis Winston, America’s Quarterback, isn’t capturing national media attention, which is exactly what Joe broke down earlier.

The media doesn’t want to give Jameis any positive media attention. They’ve been out to bury this guy from jump! I guarantee the minute he gets a ticket for J-walking, They’ll be more cameras in his face and more media crazies than a superbowl media day. There were too many of the media pundits that were wrong about Jameis and they will not want to admit it. They are praying he does something crazy soon!

  2. SCBucsFan Says:

This game is very important for Jameis. The media’s opinion of him for the rest of the season depends on how well he plays in this game. It could go either way.

  3. Tampabaybucfan Says:

The Bucs are a weird team….schizophrenic…….Blown out in home opener to Titans…..beat the Saints in NO……meltdown vs Skins…..beat Falcons in Atlanta.

Face it, we have no idea what kind of team will show up.

If I had to guess….our pass defense will let us down again….we will be stout against the run…..the offense will move the ball….and we will have some field goals.

The key again will be the turnover battle.

  4. Mike Johnson Says:

It does not take an Einstein to figure..Our team will go as far as Jameis and the Offense take us this year. It will NOT..be on the backs of our Defense. Jameis is going to have to win his share of NFL Shootouts this season. Starting with New York. IF..our Defense can get the occasional stop, then we might be able to hang on. Our Defense will improve with the addition of players next year. Jameis is not getting more attention because he’s just starting to rise. The good thing is Sports commentators are seeing it..right before their eyes.
Keep playing well and the attention will more than come.

  5. Buccfan37 Says:

Ah New Yorkers, God’s gift to humanity. Who else is going to tell us better that we are not doing it right? A great “New York City” song is John Lennon’s song by that name. He along with the Plastic Ono Elephants Memory Band.

  6. BrianBucs Says:

After watching the Giants’ defense last week against the Saints, Jameis should have a big day on Sunday

  7. MadMax Says:

Well, suits me. Im the type that doesnt like attention anyway….and being a Buc fan Im used to us hardly getting any. You fly under the radar…in a weird way…and I like that.

  8. Newbucsfan Says:

Go Bucs…..please kick their know it all as&!!

  9. JMN Says:

Better to fly under the radar. Jameis is quietly getting better and better each week. As Bucs fans we all can see that…who cares if the national media is noticing.

  10. Tiny Tim Says:

Why would Jameis get national attention when you have a radio host in this area not willing to give Winston credit for being rookie of the week twice or give him credit for being the first rookie qb in history to throw for 200+ yards in his first six games? That same radio host wants to talk about the bucs limiting Jameis’ reads (which is BS by the way) but will not mention that Mariota only has completed two passes that has traveled 20 yards in the air. Matter of fact, Mariota is 2 for 13 in that regards. I believe Winston is 13 for 24 with 2 tds. Those number may not be exact but it is very close to that. Winston doesn’t even receive credit in his own hometown of Tampa. What do you expect from a national perspective?

  11. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Tiny Tim you are right on, big dog is such a clown for not having an open mind on jameis and then being so close minded on lovie and thinking he is successful, but big dog could be doing the oldest schtick in the book by being anti-jameis because he is a hurricane fan, i would hope he would have given jameis the benefit of the doubt or open mind….jameis is by far the most shining light on this team…i am a 100% Gator but love jameis and glad he is on the team, but do not want another year of lovie

  12. Joe Cool Says:

Bid Puppy blocked me on twitter last year when Jameis was making his 2nd run at an undefeated season at FSU. All I told him was that Winston was the real deal and the Bucs should draft him, and all he could come back with was that “he was a turnover machine” Told him to look at the Win/Loss column over the last two years and then he blocked me for being “annoying”. Tiny Tim, you nailed it. He will say he “doesn’t” hate Jameis, but the truth is I don’t think he is a fan of him what so ever. Until he brings the Lombardi trophy to Tampa, which he will, he will never give him credit for anything. He is playing better than most rookies I’ve ever seen, besides Luck’s LUCKY first year. serious. Even yesterday he didn’t want to give Winston credit for having an “average” game. Oh, and by the way, I do have him on my fantasy roster and he gets me solid points every week in a two QB league. He is full of Bull Spit….as far as that’s concerned. (Can he say those two phrases more?)

  13. Tiny Tim Says:

Oh and pay attention to when someone talks bad about Mariota, that said radio host will fly off the deep end to defend him. He even hangs up on those people at times. Your local radio host defends a player more adamantly then he defends his hometown qb who is actually playing much much better. Unbelievable.

  14. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

I wouldn’t even know that guy existed if it weren’t for posts here. He might as well be Santa Claus.

He’s about as consequential to the Bucs as a hotdog vendor.

  15. JAB83 Says:

Yeah, Kwon just showed the rest of the D what they have been lacking….

    Hint, its not coaching!!!!!

31-17 BUCS and if we get 5 sacks and a big pick six from LVD….. I smell a statement SHUTOUT GAME….. Everyone will take notice than!!!!

Win or lose…. The future is so dag gum bright for this team… I believe in what Lovie is doing to a degree…. Offense is what gets you over the top… You build it… The Defence will come!!!

At the very least he is really helping to establish a long term plan that for all I care the next coach can finish…. Is Dungy Gruden…. The only thing I do care about is that is comes AFTER HIS CONTRACT IS UP….. If and only IF he is struggling to get the job in the win lose coloum resolved… But to me that will be a formality of all the other things he is doing so very well right now….

JW will get all the attention he deserves when the time is right… So far the plan is working just fine… He first has to become The Pride of Tampa… Then America will see who there QB is…. Oh and plus Brady and Manning need to retire and we need to make Rogers McNab 2.0 in the playoff…

The Giants will be able to move the ball the same way Atlanta did, up and down the field. The difference will be New York is not going to give the ball away four times. In order for us to win it, the game comes down to Jameis. This week he needs to hit those open receivers he was missing last week. Doug Martin and the OL need to control the clock. No turnovers and they have a shot to win. The two most difficult games on our schedule this year, other than Carolina, are the Giants and the Eagles. A win would make us 4-4 and would be the first back to back wins in some time.

  17. The original "Kevin" Says:

Glad to see Im not the only one who thinks that Little Puppy Big Dog is so full of himself he wont give credit when its due. I listen to talk sports most of the day, but when this guy fets irritated with people and starts yelling and hanging up and cutting them off before they can even make theyre point…I have to change the station. Im sure the amount of followers he has a chance to block will go down unless he changes his tune. Sounds like a clown to me

  18. Cat Says:

    JW can Super Bowl
MVP and Little Dog will complain about one incomplete pass

  19. MadMax Says:

@Jab, you’re on your way. You properly spelled offense with an s instead of a c. We’re here to help….keep up the progress my friend 🙂

  20. Ray Rice Says:

Man I still remember the playoff game where they went to Tampa and beat the brakes off of our YUCS. Revenge is a MF. Getem MESSIAH!
