Protecting Jameis

"Thanks for having my back, bro."

“Thanks for having my back, bro.”

Even though the Bucs had a grotesque amount of penalties last week at Washington, there was one personal foul Joe actually liked.

Former Bucs safety and current Redskins leading tackler, Hawk Goldson flew in and it appeared speared America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, in the back.

Fellow rookie Ali Marpet didn’t think that was kosher. So he blasted Hawk and drew a flag. Marpet talked about the incident with Joe earlier in the week.

“The safety came down and the ball came out and he sort of speared our quarterback in the back,” Marpet said. “That’s not going to be cool for any offensive lineman.”

While Joe thought it was a good way to send a message not to eff with Jameis, Bucs coaches were not so happy, Marpet noted.

“Oh, I got chewed out,” Marpet said. “There’s protecting your quarterback and going a touch too far. [But] just a touch.”

Marpet noted that he and Jameis and other rookies believe they really are a band of brothers.

“The rookies here, we want to do something special,” Marpet said. “It is a tight group.”

Love this guy, you’ve got to have each others backs. Attitudes like this are what turn teams into winners.

Don’t worry about it kid. If I was your coach, I’d give you a pat, a high five and a raise. You hit the QB like that, you get your a$$ kicked. I MIGHT have chewed him out for not spiking Hawk like a football though. If you’re going to get the flag, earn it. Beat the guy DOWN.

    Also, largo Sam, stfu.
