What Is Worse?

What has you down on Bucs WR Mike Evans?

What has you down on Bucs WR Mike Evans?

Bucs second-year man, wide receiver Mike Evans, is not off to the best start of his short football career.

Hampered by a nasty hamstring in preseason, Evans has been all but invisible — or dropping passes — thus far in the passing game.

A far cry from last year where he blew up the NFL with a simpleton at quarterback.

Now Evans made news — well, that is stretching the word “news” — when like a lot of NFLers with a weekend off, he traveled back to his old college stomping grounds to watch some football.

And so there was Evans on the sidelines at Kyle Field in College Station, sporting a Johnny Football Browns jersey.

Joe thought that was cool. A fair number of Bucs fans Twittered Joe unnerved at the scene.

Andy Nesbitt of FOX Sports wonders if that is the worst thing Evans has done this season, in this FOX Sports video.

Dont care about this. Him and Johnny Football go way back. I remember Caddy and his boy Ronnie Brown hangin out every chance they got. So what.

What worries me is that Evans could have had himself a couple TDs by now and picked up a few important first downs to help out the team on drives. But, hes gotten sloppy with his hands, his route running, and he isnt fighting for the ball. Oh, and he whines like a little girl and argues for a flag every time he drops the ball.

  2. Buc1987 Says:

    Meaningless.

  3. BucFan20 Says:

BFD. Just more losers trying to start spit about nothing.

  4. Sapp, STFU Says:

Let’s stir the pot with this rhetorical question: Are all 1st round Bucs receivers named Michael all busts after their first year?

    Anger slinging in 3. . 2. . 1. . .

  5. This Guy Right Here Says:

After watching how excited Evans was when Lovie announced theyd get a few extra days off (He was literally jumping up and down)… This made me question the kid’s mindset.

Look at how Bobby Rainey wished we didnt have the week off so we could build off the momentum… Thats the difference between a veterans mindset, and a youngster like Evans..

Hope he gets his game going vs the Skins, like he did them last year.

  6. I know why Says:

    mike evans = mike clayton…yikes!!!

  7. Pick6 Says:

he could wear an Aaron Hernandez jersey in his time off for all i care. just catch TDs and deep balls while you’re wearing the bucs #13 jersey

  8. Buc1987 Says:

You mean some media outlet outside of Tampa is actually covering a semi-Bucs related story? Wow…good job Mike. Now start catching the damn TD passes.

  9. Buc1987 Says:

Sapp, STFU…Mike Williams was pretty productive after his first year..

  10. Buccfan37 Says:

Evans who? I thought the Bucs traded him. He has been close to missing in action. Seriously I’m pulling for him to be a factor in beating the name off the Redskins. A loss to our Bucs will render them the Deadskins.

  11. DB55 Says:

I’m not saying we coulda drafted Aaron Donald but I’m just saying…. I’m sure Evans will turn it around soon.

  12. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Mike will be just fine….maybe starting Sunday.

  13. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

    He’s no Odell Beckham

  14. Hawaiian Buc Says:

This is probably the one thing that I know is meaningless, but it still bothers me. If he was wearing his college jersey I have no problem. However, he’s wearing his NFL jersey. I just can’t imagine Jerry Rice wearing the jersey of another team. Guess I’m just getting old.

  15. JAB83 Says:

I wish he would a wore his own jersey to be honest. However I think him putting his old QBs jersey on is a sign of respect and a bit of support for Johnny… What would have been a story is if he put on JW FSU jersey!!!

  16. cmurda Says:

I guess I’m in the minority that have no problem with this. That’s not to say that Hawaiian doesn’t have a valid point. It would have been a wiser decision to wear Johnny’s Texas A & M Jersey but it didn’t feel like a slap in the face to the Bucs or their fans IMHO. However, shame on you people blasting Mike regarding his on-field performance. He has earned the benefit of the doubt. He’s getting over a rough injury and missed valuable time getting comfortable in the offense. The dropsies are the only thing worrying me but he’s still getting open and will become more comfortable and be a bigger part of the gameplan as the season goes on. It’s hard to blame the fanbase based on M Clayton’s Houdini act after year 1, but it’s way too soon to relegate him to that status.

  17. James Walker Says:

That is friendship, not a big deal. The touchdown part, that is a big deal.

  18. meat Says:

needs to lean out- clearly he doesnt eat as clean as he could and his lifestyle is not that of an oylmpic athlete- thats what I want from my pro bowlers. Like Watt on HardKnocks- over the summer to keep gains he was getting 12 hours of sleep a night going to be at like 8 or something….. Evans came in and had instant success and figured he naturally has it. IE Carmello Anthony….. needs to keep his head down, stop wearing browns jerseys, and get on the jug machine and the treadmill.

  19. k1ngadroc Says:

who cares what he’s wearing?? Just catch the damn ball on Sunday!

  20. bucsbedabest Says:

Does anyone else remember last years game between the Bucs and Browns? Mike Evans caught the TD pass and when he was in the end zone celebrating he gave the “Johnny football” money sign? Not only did he do it once, he did it twice? Did anyone hear if he was dong it out of respect for the QB who played in college with him or was it a rub in which Evans was saying to Manziel “you should have bet your “money” on my team” or “the Bucs are kicking your teams donkey!” Now Mike is wearing Manziel’s jersey to watch his college team play? Maybe no one else sees anything wrong with it but if I was playing in the NFL and going back to my college for a game I would be sporting my teams colors for sure. Is Mike trying to say that he wishes Johnny was his QB in Tampa?

  21. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

None issue for me. Now…if he wore it when the Bucs played the Browns? That would tick me off. Otherwise…who cares but the TROLLS?

  22. BUC IT Says:

No problem with it. Would’ve preferred it be an A&M jersey though. He is making a statement that he supports him and also considering McCown and Manziel have been his qb
