Simple Formula For Bucs

Film study suggests the Redskins, led by Brother of Chucky, cannot win games through the air.

There is an old football axiom nearly as old as the game itself: Stop the run and you put yourself in position to win.

The old gridiron cliché was as accurate in the 1930s as it is today. And it even applies to the Bucs’ game against the Redskins at Obamaburg Sunday.

If one is to believe the typings of Xs and Os guru Andy Benoit of theMMQB.com, then the Redskins are not built to win through the air, despite having Brother of Chucky as their leader.

If Benoit is right, and Joe has no reason to believe he is not, then Sunday’s game is old fashioned football: stop the run and win.

It really is odd that the Redskins invested in an offensive guru like Brother of Chucky, yet they cannot consistently pass the ball effectively. Sort of like having a defensive head coach who has a lousy defense. Doesn’t add up.

Redskins may have hired an offensive guru as their chief, but they forgot to put any arrows in his quiver.

  2. Tom Edrington Says:

Unfortunately for Daniel Snyder, there are no quarterbacks currently for sale

Sort of like having a defensive minded head coach, playing hand picked players, having a lousy defense…Hmmm.

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

My fear is we will do exactly that…..stop the run and force them to pass…..are we ready for their passes?

We need to stop the run & stop the pass.

  5. Howard Cosell Says:

It’s all a ruse. Redskins will come out passing and continue to pass as
long as they can burn Jennings and Jenkins.

  6. Tampa Tony Says:

Washington by 10, loser lovies soft d will make cousins a pro bowler

  7. Sick of Lovie Says:

I will gladly eat my words on this, but Im sure the Redskins have been watching the film and they are salivating at the opportunity to get to play our secondary. Hopefully, McCoy and Co. can bring some heat Sunday and put Cousins in some bad situations.

  8. DefenseRules Says:

@Sick of Lovie … OK, prepare to eat your words. Bucs defense will play lights out Sunday.

With 2 weeks off to fix what’s been broken with the secondary especially, plus getting several defenders back healthy again, there’s no excuse for the Bucs defense not to ‘kick ass and take names’. Fully expect that the LB pass coverage will improve, and that the CBs and safeties will cover like glue(especially with Banks and Verner back in there). No more of this having WRs and TEs running free in the middle of the field. Also expect that the DLine especially will shut down the Redskins running game, keep pressure on Cousins, as well as be a lot more effective on 3rd down and in the Red Zone.

With 5 games under our belt, every aspect of the Bucs play has improved significantly far as I’m concerned. Team chemistry is improving steadily. Now it’s just a matter of how badly do they really want to win. No more screwing around.

Fantasy wish…#3 gets the wind knocked out of him. MG8 comes on and tosses a couple of TD’s. #3 returns in the 2nd half to add two more!!! We crush the Deadskins.

Snyder so frustrated by his own horrible QB’s and enamored over MG8’s two TD passes gives us a 2nd and 4th round pick for MG8!!!

  10. Mike Johnson Says:

This game will be all about our Defense. Can we get enough pressure to cause some errant throws? We shall see. No pressure and COUSINs looks like Johnny Unitas. Our secondary has ben quite questionable thus far. This game could go either way depending on our….some-time-ey Defense. I do believe our Offense will play well. But what good is 21 points when the opposition scores 24? Don’t let cousins fool you, he is due for a good passing game. And what better Defense to go against.

The closer it gets to game time, the more I like the Bucs chances for a win in the game.

  12. The Rockstar Says:

Washington would be a great fit for Glennon. But wait until after the game to trade him please.

Washington plays the Patriots after us which would put them at 2-6 and that would be a wrap on their season. Its a must win. While Captain Kirk Cousins had a day that in no way resembled anything close to good last week, something tells me he is going to light us up Sunday. The Bucs must do whe Jets borrowed from the Falcons, they took away the run. They forced Cousins to beat them and it obviously worked. Here are some things to watch out for. Redskins have held opponents scoreless on opening drives in each of the first six games this season. The Redskins opened the scoring on their first possession on a two-yard touchdown pass from Cousins to wide receiver Pierre Garçon. The exact same route the Texans DeAndre Hopkins burned Tim Jennings for a TD on. Cousins has now thrown a touchdown pass in six consecutive games. The Redskins allowed only one sack, without Trent Williams. Redskins registered three takeaways and have now forced three turnovers in consecutive games. They plan to get a lead on the Bucs, stop Doug Martin, then force them to throw the ball and get some pressure, then Winston will struggle. Looks like we have to watch another week of dink and dunking 3 to 5 yard passes again. Oh well..as long as we get a win.
