Vincent Jackson strangely was invisible until about one minute left in the first half. Sixty seconds later, V-Jax had two catches for 32 yards and a thrilling touchdown (shown above).

After the game, Joe caught up to a chatty V-Jax in the SuperDome locker room. The veteran receiver was lauding Jameis Winston, America’s Quarterback, for setting him up for the TD throw.

“We figured they might be in a 2-high coverage. And Jameis saw it, you know what I mean, he gave me the right route,” Jackson said. “That mike linebacker, it’s a tough play for him. He has his back to the quarterback. Jameis knows. We work on this play all the time. Put it high in the back and I’ll go over somebody to get it.”

Jackson was bubbling about how huge a division win on the road is, and how his new QB is raising his game

“Every time he gets in the huddle, he just brings that positive energy,” Jackson said of Jameis. “He makes everybody around him better.”

Only thing people are looking for is a GMC update. Get it together Joey.

  2. Bucnut2 Says:

Right, how was the positive energy when JW is taking needless sacks and not recognizing open receivers?

  3. ndog Says:

Oh Bucnut you’re going to have a tough time over the next 10-15 years of you keep this up.

  4. Trubucfan22 Says:

Shut up bucnut. Its sad that you cant be happy about a bucs win. Maybe you should be a titans fan. And then you can drool on mariota, and his great leadership he displayed today.

  5. Bucnut2 Says:

I won’t if JW plays like this. In 3 years hell be gone

  6. buc4life1979 Says:

Obviously Bucnut, there was plenty of enuff energy to pulloff a win

  7. tdtb2015 Says:

Yes Joe, you know your QBs!!!!!
    Go Wins-a-Ton!
    Great Game!

  8. Seminole Bill Says:

I was pleasantly surprised at today’s win. I did not expect to win, and I think most of the team did not expect it either. But we’ll take it and build on it.

  9. Gmc Says:

That is a game the Bucs typically choke, glad to see them turn the corner……at least for one week.

  10. Bucnut2 Says:

Im VERY happy ABOUT THE WIN. Just think JW had little to do with it. I guess the good news is he didn’t lose it!

  11. Bucnut2 Says:

    you guys are demented.

jw has big time issues that did not cost us a win today. Doesn’t mean his issues don’t exist. Let’s not forget that he looked OK against a bunch of guys who were driving beer trucks a week ago.

  12. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

    Keep waitin on it.

  13. dabucs Says:

Bucnut you act as if you have never seen a rookie QB play in the NFL before..please keep your uneducated opinion to yourself..please an thank you

  14. StPeteBucsFan Says:

That toss to VJAX was a true NFL quality throw. He put the ball where only VJAX could get it and nobody else.

He did the same thing later with that pass to ASJ in the endzone…had to feather it high over the rusher, the only difference was VJAX made a play and ASJ didn’t. Both passes were things of beauty.

  15. Lue0615 Says:

    Bucnut2

    Go blow MM

  16. Buccfan37 Says:

Jameis played good enough to get the win. Jackson was his usual self, coming up with some clutch catches. I don’t remember Evans catching a pass, though he may have. The Saints are turning back into the Ain’ts. I don’t think they will beat Carolina next week.

  17. This Guy Right Here Says:

7 sacks for Mariota… Looks like the NFL has figured him out already..

As far as Jameis? That 2 minute drive was MONEY! This kids stock is on the rise. He’s gonna clean up his fundamentals and only get better… The Future looks bright Tampa!!!

  18. Tampa Tony Says:

Winston and the d overcame Lovies ineptitude

  19. Bucnut2 Says:

dabucs, I am not uneducated, the rest of you have homer bias. Had jw played at USC, none of you guys would have taken him #1. This guy has big time issues, slow release bad feet and limited field vision. You’l seen when we are drafting the BUCS next QB in 3 years

  20. Mikeck Says:

What is so sad is that there are so many “fans” who would rather see the Bucs lose than Winston succeed. Can’t be happy if he plays well and the Bucs win because they felt like Mariotta was the better pic. Well, maybe he is or maybe he isn’t but take Winston as he is, your QB. If he sucks, fine…but why root of him to fail just so you can be “right”
    Pathetic

  21. Mcruzer Says:

I will take a Division win no matter how ugly.

  22. Mikeck Says:

@bucnut: actually, the analysts are pointing out how good his mechanics are for a rookie. As Manning said years ago, you have to be able to throw off your Back foot and against your body…the times you can step up in an open pocket are too rare”

  23. Bucnut2 Says:

Miceck, wrong, go check out Greg Cosell’sa analysis. You are talking out your **. I don’t know ANY analysts that think he has good mechanics.

  24. Newbucsfan Says:

Wow…really! To all the JW naysayers; can’t you just be happy for the win and shut up all the negativity. You really can’t be Bucs fans and feel this way about your own quarterback!? Did you happen to see the completed 55 yard bomb made on the run by JW??!!

  25. Bucnut2 Says:

Look I hope he makes and will be glad to post and say I was wrong. Facts are Facts, JW has a LONG way to go to be a GOOD NFL qb. Don’t forget, the Joe’s told us he was PRO READY. I haven’t seen that yet.

  26. JAB83 Says:

PEOPLE!!!! PLEASE STOP REPLYING TO FOLKS LIKE “nut” and others who have a idiotic perspective… Its only because they need attention that they post in the first place… Its annoying to read what they post but its even more annoying reading reply… It is fruitless… Let’s all stay to used on the positives…. Even though the negatives are relevant…

  27. Bucnut2 Says:

NBF, you are right. he did have 1 really great play!

  28. Bucnut2 Says:

JAB-so because I’m a REAL fan and don’t buy all of the pablum the majority are spitting out, people should ignore me? I thought this was america? Are you a communist?

  29. JAB83 Says:

    *stay focused on the positive

  30. Bucnut2 Says:

I am staying focused on reality

  31. Newbucsfan Says:

    Bucnot oops bucnut2

I’ll be glad to give you an overview of all his great plays if necessary. Might take me awhile to compile the list though.

  32. JAB83 Says:

I didn’t say to not let you have your idiotic perspective… I said ignore it… Its called a REPUBLIC… Not a democracy… Hope you grow up so you don’t have to be ignored your whole life…. Just a tip for your personal life…

  33. buc1948 Says:

Bucnut2, HE IS A ROOKIE GIVE HIM A CHANCE How long have u been watching football must be a newbe or maybe u were on mars when P manning came in or how about B Farva he looked so bad ATL traded him.

  34. Bucnut2 Says:

NBF, i think 30 seconds will suffice

  35. JAB83 Says:

Andand my apologies for replying… Just didn’t want the guy to cry himself to sleep… I will never reply to the trolls again PROMISE!!!!

  36. Bucnut2 Says:

!948- really bad comparisons. both of the QBs you mention had really good, quick releases. JW winds up like Byron Leftwcih.

  37. VeeJay24 Says:

All I know is he threw for 1 TD and ran another; they won the game. In the end that is all that matters. Your dumb ass quotes a guy who never played or coach and learned the game at NfL Films. But fails to mention guys like Mariucci or Jeramiah, who have actually done something in this league. Get another team and suck ass!!!

  38. Bucnut2 Says:

JAB, you are afraid of interacting with anyone who disagrees with you? That’s odd. Are you not sure what you think?

  39. Bucnut2 Says:

VJ- wow you seem really angry. My experience is that people who get angry can’t argue their case logically. do you secretly think JW is a bust?

  40. JAB83 Says:

As far as JW goes I think he managed the game well today… Hope he continues to jell with the fellas… Look like he there to about 6 different guys… Which is awesome… Also hope the D continues to jell…. They looked hungry for a win today and got rewarded…. Still a little soft to start the game… But I give them a B minus for the all around team effort…. Oh and ST played very well as well!!!!

  41. cmurda Says:

Good point about the ST Ja. They were solid. Rainey continually gave us nice return yards and set us up to tilt the field, which we did. This was a good effort. This conservative playcalling when winning is annoying though. I wanted so badly to see JW ice this game but the coaches didn’t give him that chance. I suspect that was Lovie’s idea.

  42. JAB83 Says:

I’m done… The trolls won the message board game

  43. Bucnut2 Says:

JAB, thought so. Thanks for coming out. Let me know when you want to chat with someone who doesnt share your view on everything.

  44. Bucnut2 Says:

CMURDA i agree ST were very good today

  45. LargoBuc Says:

I think Jameis showed some improvement over last week. Thats what really counts. Its too soon to assume he cant fix his issues. His footwork is night and day compared to last week. And while his release isnt the quickest, it looks alot more fluid compared to the first time we saw him in August. Wether he gets better at reading defenses and finding open receivers, its impossible for me to tell. I would hope so but who knows. But the main thing is that there has been progress.

  46. Bucnut2 Says:

Largo- what you you said. Finally a voice of reason!

  47. Bo Says:

    Bucnut
Go be a Titans fan…we don’t need you here..

  48. Mac Says:

apparently bucnut knows more than VJax

  49. LargoBuc Says:

I cant be hard on bucnut. Theres a difference between being a hater and having some objectivity. Thus far, I have not seen anything too over the top from him. He appears more skeptical of Jameis than many on here, myself included but im fine with that. What gets me is the posters who say Lovie Smith sucks because he only plays Tampa two. Thats not true and there are plenty of reasons to be critical of Lovie without making things up 😉

  50. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Why can’t we just be HAPPY ABOUT A WIN?????? Let’s leep the “Winston sucks” talk for a game that we lose. If he makes it, he makes it. If he doesn’t, he doesn’t. Just enjoy the ride and hope for the best. If we have to draft another QB in 3 years, then that’s just the way it will be. Complaining about Winston won’t bring us Mariota. I, for one, will be rooting for Winston to be good and the Bucs to win, not for Winston to suck just so I can be right about Mariota. GO BUCS!!!!!!!

  51. gotbbucs Says:

Jamies has a ways to go, as does Mariota, as does Andrew Luck. They are all young QB’s who flash brilliance and boneheaded moments.
We won the game and for the moment look like we have a legit chance in what appears to be a down year in the NFC.
Second game in his rookie year and already the arm chair GM’s have their minds made up. Only Bucs fans are lame enough to argue about this kind of stuff two games into a rookie QB’s career. Enjoy the win.

  52. Big Irish...Section 318 Says:

    1-0 in the division.

  53. Bobby Says:

well, let’s see….Jameis only lost one game in college. I know, I know…they won in spite of him not because of him. The analysts said he was the more NFL ready QB. After 2 games in the NFL he and Marcus are both 1-1. Don’t forget, it was our defense that Mariotta beat, not Winston. Today I thought Winston was the better QB. His completion % would have been much higher had Murphy held on tho the pass and if Seferian-Jenkins had held on. Not to mention the score may have been higher too. Marcus impressed me in game one and I thought Winston was still favoring the ankle but today he looked like a leader and a true NFL QB. He actually looked the part of a #1 pick. The throw to VJAX was a thing of beauty and the throw to Murphy on the run was nice too. Good decision making and he’ll learn to get the ball out quicker which will cut down on the sacks.

  54. chipbuc Says:

Bucnut 2 , All i can say to you after all these jack ass takes is BITE ME. You are not a true Buc fan, trolling is your game.

  55. RealkillersmoveinSilence Says:

    Mariota played great today
