Donovan Smith “Should Be Ready”

September 3rd, 2015

DonovanSmithmugYes, the Buccaneers’ rookie starting left tackle, Donovan Smith, is getting around with a sprained ankle in a walking boot.

The boot went on after Saturday’s Browns-Bucs game, and he didn’t play tonight. But there was an update during the Bucs-Dolphins broadcast, courtesy of Ronde Barber.

The Bucs icon and color announcer said Smith remains in a boot but “should be ready” for opening day.

Joe’s trying to remain calm. Tampa Bay and the Titans kick off in just about 9 1/2 days. Smith has to play. He has to. Right?

A tipoff on Smith’s condition might be unveiled this weekend. If the Bucs jump to claim a left tackle off waivers, then it could be a bad sign.

Look, its going to be rough, but unlike before there is an upside. Leave Smith, Mankins, Who ever Center is, Marpet, Cheerios as the O line, let them build cohesion. By midseason they won’t be a liability anymore.
