Titans Watch: 24 More Days

August 20th, 2015

Ken Whisenhunt, Marcus MariotaJoe’s already called opening day against the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 13 in Tampa a “must-win.”

It’s not a must-win for the standings. Duh. But it is necessary for the psyche of a fanbase that hasn’t seen a home victory since 2013, and compares Jameis Winston to Marcus Mariota.

Offensive line fears and troubles don’t just live in the Tampa Bay area. They exist across the NFL, and they’re festering nicely now in Tennessee.

This offseason, the Titans signed former starting Panthers tackle Byron Bell in free agency. Now, as of this week, he’s playing a new position: guard. Keep in mind Bell was on the Panthers’ O-line for their playoff push last season and Carolina let him walk.

The Titans’ big money left guard, Andy Levitre, is now working at center.

Tennessee offensive line coach Bob Bostad was Greg Schiano’s man with the Bucs. That should offer some comfort.

If the Bucs’ defense can’t penetrate that bunch and flummox a rookie quarterback, Marcus Mariota, then the Bucs are going to have a brutal time at New Orleans and at Houston in Weeks 2 and 3.

You realize of course that the Titans are saying the exact same thing about us….just swap “Jameis Winston” for Mariota.

MM threw his first pick. So its jameis 74 int Marcus 1.

Just remember, That if the Bucs lose. Its because Lovie is throwing the season for a top 3 pick in next years draft for a DE!!!!!

Kinda easy to keep the INTs down while focusing on keeping MM comfortable with constant screen passes. Also, you do recall “Operation Rattle Jameis”? No wonder the difference in INTs. Pull for your QB … Go Bucs.

    ‘Flummox a rookie quarterback?’

As in, Cullen is supposed to tell the DLine “Remember guys, your mission today is to flummox the quarterback.”

    Flummox … love it Joe.

The Titans sure have an ugly helmet. That T must stand for turds.

  9. Java Says:

One of a handful of winnable games for the Bucs. It’s going to come down to coaching and which rookie QB makes more plays.

    We are in trouble then!!!!

  11. Pawel Says:

Just like last year we had a must win and easy game vs backup QBs, those hopes were flushed down the toilet.

The ugly T helmets against the ugly Burger King uniforms in the Den Of Depression. Should be a great game!

Dick Lebeau, who is a much better defensive coordinator than Lovie, is throwing every thing but the kitchen sink at Mariota and he is meeting the challenge. I’ve been too three practices and Winston is just not accurate. He throws it high, low, in the dirt and just about everywhere the ball is not supposed to go. The guy we saw last Saturday night, is the same guy in practice. Buc fans from what I am seeing, we drafted the wrong guy. It is upsetting to see this. It makes me ill. I was around for the nonsalad days of the 80’s and I am seeing history starting to repeat itself. Call me what you want…I am a realist, not a homer…yes people are the enemy of progress.

Handful of winnable games….LOL! Java you crack me up! Apparently only a handful of people in the Bay area that also think the Bucs are the real deal too. Been a Bucs fan my whole life, you’d think fans would be getting behind this time right now. But no, people are still doubting this team after 1 pre-season game. This QB is something special and HE WILL take us to the promise land. Can’t wait for everyone to pull their jerseys out of the closet and start coming to the games by week 10 because they soon realize the Bucs are making a playoff push.

Nothing but a bunch of transplants here anyway…

BucFann37, we are in no position to criticize any other teams uniforms

You apparently know more than the Titans HC, who has been quoted as saying they’re taking it slow and easy with Zmariota, which was emphasized by their preseason game.

I swear, some of you are pulling for Winston to tank. The cynic in me tends to think some of you are looking through glasses of orange and blue.

Nobody is pulling for the Pewter to tank.
But when we keep drafting the wrong guys time and time again it gets old.

I hear that Tennessee is bussing in fans to the game. Should make the game nice and loud (when we are on offense)…
